Andy Evert Show. It is a Friday, a cool one
in San Antonio, weather warming up this weekend for all
your fun stuff, and we got a lot of sports
to get to over the next three hours, dissecting all
the things that happened in the last twenty one and

(00:43):
looking ahead to a weekend of NFL and college action
that should be fun.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I'm Andy Everett.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
The audio disseminator and producer of this program is Shane Carter.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Hey, Andy, he you doing? I am good.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
The Cowboys three turnovers not necessarily Dak's fault he gets
credit for him, yep, and a defense that gave up
forty four. But I'm going to say they were really
gave up twenty four because of the.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Turnovers, and.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
George Pickens showed that when cd Lamb is not in
the game, he may not be as good as we
thought he was, because he did not like the fact
that he got double team last night.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Which is weird because when cdee Lamb was out for
those stretch of games early midway through the season, he
was actually a superhero.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
And so you were kind of expecting this shot last night. Yeah,
I know, but and that was the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Is like last night, whenever they would shadow with safety
over him and you saw this, whenever it was either
a Meek Robinson or or DJ Reid covering him, they
always had Brian Branch over the top ready to pick
up the deep route and in most of the time
he's able to get past that, but he was not
able to break free last night.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Ryan Florinoy my guy Southeast. Sorry, he had a.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Great game, he honestly andy, And we'll get this more
as we discate the game. We needed to go and
talk about him as being the true third receiver on
this team over Cavante Turpin. I'm starting to sour a
little bit on the numbers nine.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well, Cavante Turpin with his special team fiasco the last
couple of weeks has gotten ways.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, Bake Wave, it looks like a fair catch when
it's not second game in a row.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, you got to either catch the ball or get
out of the way or a fair catch it.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
You can't kind of do.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
You can't give a a signal that one could interpret
as a fair catch when you don't intend.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
You can't. You can't halfway do either one. You have
to do one or the other. Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
And Jake Ferguson, I love the guy, I really do.
And I'm not going to plame for that for that
obvious bogus passive heirs call in the red zone, but
that fumble Andy and I saw this on Twitter. Then
this I'm gonna give you some a crazy number here.
And Jake Ferguson's first thirty five games of his career
zero lost fumbles, in his last twenty five seven lost problem.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Get it.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
When you get the reputation of turning it over, that's
never a good thing. We'll talk more about the Cowboys
a little bit more in detail coming up in the
next segment. I don't think it's over with yet because
the Eagles still have to prove that they're the Eagles
and not a team that's going to continue to lose.
But I do think the division is there if they
can win out. I don't think they can have any
more any more hiccups, and they're gonna need some help

(03:07):
from Philadelphia, the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
What's that you said if you need help from Philadelphia, Well,
you need to Philadelphia lose. Oh okay, yeah, you need
Philadelphia to lose. You need them to you need that.
That's where the help comes.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
The Arizona Cardinals announced today Kyler Murray is done. He's
not coming back this year. Foot injury is not gonna heal.
They're gonna go with Jacoby Brissett, which I think they're
a better team with him than with.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Murray right now.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
It's kind of interesting how the star and as and
the luster is shined off that star star that was
Kyler Murray not too long ago. I think he's too
short to play the position. I'm not sure how strong
his arm is. He is a tremendous athlete. The Cardinals
will definitely try to trade him in the offseason. The
Cardinals will definitely be in the sweepstakes for one of

(03:52):
those four quarterbacks because they won't make the playoffs, and
they should be a top ten pick and get a
franchise style quarterback if any of those four are but
they probably at best can get a third or fourth
round draft pick. For Kyler Murray. I'm not sure which
team wants him. We'll give you some suggestions on that
coming up.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
In a bit.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
The Matt Campbell from Iowa State, well, sorry, James, Iowa
Happy Valley seems a little bit more lucrative to me.
I actually have a chance to win a national championship there.
I don't necessarily think that he couldn't have gotten it
done at Iowa State, but he thinks he can get
it done better at Penn State.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
So that's where he's headed.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
And now now Iowa State is going to be in
scramble mode for a coach, which is pretty late in
the process to find one. I'd be interesting to see
who Iowa State goes after next. Probably an assistant coach
somewhere that got overlooked to the first wave.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
It might promote from within.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I mean a lot a lot of teams late in
this cycling. We've seen it often as they'll promote either
the OC or the DC that has like a really
tight bomb with the players and the recruits, and it's
really for them honestly, only a one year deal. It's
like a one year proven to see, like how the
team responds to you. I mean, we've seen stuff like
this happen before, and it's unfortunate for Iowa State as
a Red Raider fan.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
But what if Iowa States coaching staff goes with him
and steals those recruits between now and unless they have
already signed, well, then.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Jeff Traylor goes there because then because they're grabbing all
the coach.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I don't think Jeff Traylor can handle the cold names Iowa.
I think I think he I think cold weather and
it's not a dome, stadium and names, so I think
he needs a warmer climate.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
No, I think that. But I do think you'll probably
see another highly sought after group of five head coach
that proved they can win at a group at a
group program potentially get that potentially get poached. Because we
see what we saw already from UH. James Madison, their
head coach. He's going to u C l A. So
it's not hard to imagine that. You know what method
name out there? What about UH with Neil Brown, the

(05:42):
coach for Troy. If they if they beat James Madison,
that's definite gonna improve his resume.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
That would all right.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
There's a player at Georgia, Damon William Wilson. He's a
defensive end and he transferred after his sophomore seats into
Missouri and he took uh Georgie's three hundred and ninety
thousand dollars with him and Georgia issuing him to get
it back God, which I have said from the get go,
we need to have if you take the money and leave,

(06:10):
you've got to give the money back.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Now. Is that part of the deal though? Or or
it like?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
According to the story, the first of all, they want to
enter into arbitration. But according to the story, he was
going to pay the money back if he left, and
he never did so. Wilson played for Georgia as a
freshman and sophomore before transferring to Missouri in January, two
weeks after signing a new deal with Georgia's Classic City Collective.

(06:40):
So one of the reasons why schools do not have
contracts that say if you leave, you have to give
us this money back is that no contract would ever
stand up in court as far as anti trust exemption
is concerned. So I'm going to be really interesting. This
may take us all the way to the Supreme Court
and take three years to figure out. But if if Damon,

(07:04):
if Damon Wilson has to pay this back, and the
courts agree that he has to pay it back, then
that gives the NCAA some teeth. I think to impass
to pass this rule because I if I recruit you
and you're a nobody, and all of a sudden you
become a somebody, everybody wants you, and I offer you,
and I gave you, let's say, fifty thousand dollars, and

(07:27):
I say you're gonna get fifty thousand for the four
years year here, So this is a twelve point five
thousand dollars a year deal.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
You're getting twelve five this year and for the next
four years.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
You're a freshman from Jacksonville, Texas because that's a hot
bed of football players.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
But we're gonna give you a fifty grand over four years.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
And oh, by the way, if you leave, you've got
to give us what's left on the deal. What of
whatever we you know for service is rendered? Now legally
you can't put that in the contract because that doesn't
mesh with.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
With the NI trust laws. But what.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Say, yeah, Well, in some places, seventeen is the age
of consent for a lot of stuff. So if you're
maybe you can, maybe you can sign a contract at seventeen.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
In Georgia, I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Their laws are, but it's going to be really interesting
to see if Georgia can get this back, because if
they do, then that's the Supreme Court saying we don't
care what the UNI trust laws are or whatever court,
and it'll get appealed. And as long as as long
as Damon Wilson loses at whatever level of courts, they're

(08:29):
going to appeal until they get it to the Supreme Court.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
And that's where it's going to be decided.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
What is the legality of the contracts that these guys sign.
And here's what I'm going to start doing what I
was start doing if I were schools.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I'm gonna pay you as you go.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
I may get me, I may tell you I'm gonna
give you four hundred thousand dollars over four years, but
you're going to get one hundred thousand divited by twelve.
You're gonna get eight thousand dollars a month and I'll
and as a school and as the steward of the school,
I'm gonna keep paying you. But once you leave, I'm
gonna stop paying you. And let's see if if players
sign that. We'll get into the details of that and

(09:05):
a little more as well. UH Ohio State and Indiana, Alabama,
Georgia Tech and BYU will break down those games coming
up a little bit. UH. The ball matchups, some of
them have already been decided. Almost all of the ball
matchups are put together by a company called ESPN Events. Basically,
ESPN says here's who I'd like to see play, uh
with the within the conferences ESPN and the American ESPN

(09:29):
and all the all the non CFP Bowl games, they
kind of get together to figure out what, UH their plan.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Is going to be. According to the Athletic and this
is just.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Complete speculation, UTSA is going to play Western Kentucky in
the first responder.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Oh, I've seen them play. That's like that right there.
You remember what text Tech was like. They're in the
air raids.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
That's why Western Kentucky is for.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
That's air raid lights and they have a former Tech
Tech quarterback behind the center. Who's that His name was
Maverickick k he was actually he was actually all American
and Abline Christian.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
I remember the name, but really you know UTSA familiar
with Western Kentucky and that they beat him twice in
twenty twenty one. Obviously Bailey Zappi was the quarterback then
and and Maverick mcgiver may be some similar but that's
what that's what the athletic is saying is the bowl game.
And there may be some credence to that because es

(10:23):
because they're being connected, they're kind of connected with ESPN.
But a lot can change between now and Sunday afternoon.
And we'll find out sometime on Sunday when and win
and where UTSA is playing. Mike Tomlin looking like he
may stay with the Steelers, and we'll talk about their draft.
The w NBA another snag in their negotiations for a
new collective. And also we've got several teams, including a

(10:46):
game tonight where the Tulane coach and the North Texas
coach playing basically for a trip to the CFP are
not going to be coaching their teams this time next year.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
What's the what's the vibe in the room for this.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I mean, I've got some thoughts on what it is,
but can players, And I guess players probably understand, well,
I'm going to go with the coach anyway, So let's
go win here and then we'll go win at Oklahoma
State or we'll go win at Auburn next year. I'm
kind of curious as to how that dynamic happens in
the locker room when your foot is in one place,
in your head someplace else. We'll get to that. The

(11:22):
Spurs road trip continues this weekend, and a lot more
coming up on the show. We'll get to all of
that next It's the Andy Evertts Show on the ticket

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
