WNBA wants to get rid of team housing as part of new CBA.

The players have always had team funded housing. If you
are a single player, you have a one bedroom apartment.
If you are a marriage you have two, or if
you have kids, you have to a two bedroom apartment
and the team pays for it. Nice and uh sometimes
say like and if you want to buy your own

house or rent your own house, they give you a
housing stipend as to what the cost of the rental
would be in the first place.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Sounds like college almost.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, But listen, if if I'm going to pay the
star player one point five million dollars.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
They buy their own house, let let's I don't.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
I don't understand the need for team housing at the
at the pro level, team housing at the college level. Absolutely,
you got to keep control of those people. They're the
they're the responsibility of the ad and the coach. At
the pro level, the responsibility of that person is the
person and if they mess things up, they're going to
get waived immediately in their career, are going to be
over I think you can afford fifteen hundred bucks a

month for an apartment if you're making two hundred and
twenty five grand a year minimum.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I first off, I mean I wis I wish my
bosses would I wish you Andy, would you know, rent
me an apartment? That'd be nice. But I think that
I think like this is all just part of the
negotiation tactic.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
We talked about it earlier before the new deal was reached.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
At the time, the WNBA players, they only owned nine
percent of the profits, and now it's up to was
it fifteen percent?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I don't know the number. I know they were trying
to get to twenty five. They probably won't get to
that number, so twenty was probably.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
But I have to understand the expenses are so high.
The expenses are not unlike an NBA game. Sure, you
still have to have an arena, you still have to
have concessions, you still have to have parking and all
that kind of stuff and so, but you have similar
expenses with far less revenue. And that's why you can't
have fifty percent of the revenue, because you don't make
enough revenue.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
That's the simple math. But here's the other kicker.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
A fifteen hundred dollars apartment in San Antonio is probably
sixty five hundred a month in New Yorker, LA. So
that's that's another just saying that's an expense that you got.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
To deal with as well.
