Speaker 1 (00:04):
The NFL is upping its security protocols. The league offices
have been closed since July twenty eighth, following the shooting
that happened in Manhattan outside their offices, and I guess
inside the building too. The head of security for the
NFL is told all team owners and presidents they're going
to have a meeting to discuss what their new protocols
are going to be. But I would assume if you're
(00:25):
going to a game, you'll probably have more issues where
you have to be screened a little bit more. And yeah,
that's what's going to happen at games this year. I'm
not necessarily against this. I think it's kind of sad
that a person who I believe was suffering from something
(00:48):
mental went and did this and the tragedy that happened
from it. But unfortunately, when this happens and somebody sees
holds our weaknesses in this skit, the reaction is is
to make sure that that doesn't happen again to somebody
else that may be of a similar mindset. And so
we'll probably see this at preseason games and regular season
(01:11):
games and anytime that team personnel is present in NFL facilities.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, and like you said, it's a shame that something
like this had to happen, But we see it, you know,
not just as force, but we see it in everyday life,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
I don't think I don't think it's taken us. I
think fifteen years now we can we know, you have
to take your shoes off of the airport. That's that's
really when you go through screening, you can leave them on. Now.
I think that was I don't remember the year, but
it's fifteen eighteen years since that rule has been implemented.
I still understand that you can't bring drinks through the
screening area because then you can buy them right over there.
(01:50):
To me, it's just a ruse to get the airport
to make.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
That exactly what it is, and you hit the nail
right on the head exactly what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
And I understand that if you know that you can
transport something that's not water in a water bottle, I
get all that, But that's, uh, that's kind of one
of the inconveniences of the world that we live in
these days. But yeah, there any time that there is
something that a hole is discovered, the reaction is to
make sure it's patched up. And that you screen people
(02:17):
more significantly.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, and of all places like at NFL headquarters, it's
you would think that, you know, the security would be
not that it's not already tight, but it would be
even more tight lipped and and you know tightness around it.
But it's just the the non chalant, lantnessness that the
(02:40):
guy just randomly in broad damage.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I mean that's also building security too, because there was
although his target was the NFL and NFL staff, there
were other offices in that building that were not NFL
related exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah. Again, for me, the biggest thing was just seeing
some of the the pictures in the video that he's
not the gentleman, was not hiding the weapon, He had
it in playing sight, just walking from the street. So
I'm not blaming the New York public up there, but
it's like, how does nobody.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Say anything to get a time one on their phone
as soon as immediately?
Speaker 2 (03:21):
But yeah, that's the unfortunate side is when things like
this happen, it's it is a terrible thing. But that's
how not just America, but a society in general is
able to, Okay, this happened, let's course correct, to try
to make sure that this doesn't happen again, all.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Right, if the Detroit Lions have instituted what they refer
to as the Hut rule. The Huts rule is that
when Aidon Hudgenson beats his lineman and registered a hypothetical
sack on a play, the coaches are ignoring it and
letting the play continue. And this is because he has
been such a disruption on the Lions offensive line and
they can't block Kim that they've decided, Okay, when he
(04:02):
beats you, we're just gonna keep going and pretend that
he didn't because nobody else in the league is as
good as he is, so maybe you can block them.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I'm not gonna lie, Andy. This is this is when
you know it's a slow day because every team does this,
Every single team does this camp.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
But here's the deal. Memo to Dallas, please sign that
Mike as soon as you can. That their edge wresher
needs to be in in gear right now.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah. Well, I mean that's what happens when the Lions
lose an offensive coordinator and also lose a Pro Bowl center,
and I think they lost somebody else as well.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
All Right, we'll give you a FedEx Cup. Update and
a golf up date for what's going on in Memphis,
and a couple other things to finish up the show down.
The ticket
