Speaker 1 (00:04):
I saw another story last night and the headline of
this was what is Jerry waiting for? It's only Micah's
price just got greater. That's because TJ. Watt got one
hundred and twenty three million the other day and Jerry
still hasn't gotten the Micah thing done.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
So I guess he gets.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
So let's see, it's forty million a year for three
years basically, yep, so Michael gets forty four.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Michael will probably get forty one forty two for like
four or five years, or and some of.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
It guaranteed, some of it not signing bonus, all that
good stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Or maybe if you know, Mike is a man of
his word, like he's kind of been touting, Yeah, I
can get paid the most money, but then I have
you know, you and I next to him trying to
help out. Or if he takes five million dollars less
per per year, then he can have the availability and
Jerry can have the availability to spend it on somebody

(00:58):
who would actually benefit at the team and help the team.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I mean, that's just what Micah has said. So we'll
see what happens.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I have a feeling that's gonna be now, it's just
gonna be up to the years and the guaranteed money
more than like.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I gotta have some thought that Steven and the agent
are having a conversation and then whenever it's time for
Jerry to get credit for it, then they'll have a
meeting and get it done. I don't know if, but
if I'm Micah Parsons, I want it done before training
camp because I'm not going to participate in training camp
until I have a deal. Well, but I'm not getting
hurt in training camp and then trying to sign a deal. Yeah,

(01:32):
well but he but Micah is still showing up though,
Like even if you can show up stuff and he
was still showing up, you can be there, but I'm
not going to actually do the work where I could
insure myself until you sign me up.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well yeah, the culture that's up there, Yeah, I can
definitely see that. But look at Dak Prescott last year.
I mean Dak Prescott was showing up. He didn't hold out.
He was he was showing up and still attending training camp,
you know, voluntary and mandatory, and even though he was
still working on his deal, still showed up there. There

(02:05):
there are others that are put the team before themselves
as well.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
You know, Jerry, I'm not gonna pay.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
I'm gonna show up, and I'm gonna do the meetings
and I'm gonna go to all the deals. But when
we go out on the field and we start hitting
each other, I'm sorry. I'm not going to risk a
knee injury until my contract is done and I have
a signing bonus and I have guaranteed money because the
last thing the Cowboys going to afford to do is
to pay him out of generosity, hoping he comes back

(02:33):
in twenty twenty six if he gets hurt before the
twenty twenty five season. So I'm not going to be,
you know, training on my owns in some hometown somewhere.
I'm actually going to show up. I'm gonna be a
good teammate. I'm gonna be a captain if that's what
you want.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Me to be.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
But I'm not gonna go tackle anybody or run a
drill until this deal is done.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
And I don't think he should. Well, we'll see what happens.
We'll see what happens. It's all up to I mean,
and it's definitely all up to Micah and to Jerry Jones.
So we know the deal is gonna get done. Here,
here's the stupid thing, Andy is, it doesn't matter what
the deal is. Jerry's gonna be the villain regardless. He's

(03:15):
gonna be the villain regardless, because it's either gonna be
he gets paid, Micah gets paid. He becomes the highest
paid player for a couple of weeks, you know, or
at least until next year, and then all of.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
That and the only thing, the only other edge rusher
is Hendrickson, right, and and that's the only one that's least,
that's only one that's left.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, So but it's it's it's it's lose lose.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Uh. When you just talk about the aspect of it,
He's either gonna he's gonna get Jerry and the Cowboys
will get ridiculed if they make Micah the highest paid
and for whatever they give him, however many years, they're
gonna say, well, here's Jerry doing the stupid thing and
overpaying the player. Or if Jerry in the in Micah
decided to say, hey, let's get if your hometown discount,

(04:01):
I'll help you out somewhere else, then they're gonna say, well,
see this is what Jerry thinks of Michael Parsons, doesn't
think that he's worth that amount of money.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I don't think. I don't think there's gonna be a
hometown discount here. They just don't.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Well, I think Micah wants to be the highest paid
non quarterback in the league.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Well, I mean, who's the TJ is that now?

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Is he?

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, that's what they said yesterday.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Again, if you if and Tel Hendrickson signs, whoever signs first,
the next guy will be get Well, it's not gonna
happen for Hendrickson because he's in Cincinnati that.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
He's gonna have to take a hometown discout because I
have already paid Chase in Higgins.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah, it's I've never understood because this always gets brought
up all the time. You don't have to be the
highest paid in Dallas for status meaning whatever. You can
take a little bit of a hometown discount to help
the team out, because for one, you're a cowboy. Jerry's

(04:57):
gonna hook you up somewhere along the lines. That's the thing.
If it's ten years down the road, fifteen years down there,
I understand that they can hook you up. But the
way that you say face amongst your friends and your
teammates is to say I got Jerry, and don't underestimate that.
That's something that athletes do all the time.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Oh yeah, they want to be because Jerry can say, Okay,
instead of giving you what the Steelers gave TJ.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Watt, We're going to give you thirty six million a
year for three years.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
We're going to say seven million a year on what
we're going to give you, And I'm going to hook
you up with some cars. I'm going to hook you
up with an insurance agent that's not going to charge
you the premiums. I'm going to give you a stake
in my restaurant. But none of that stuff's public. That's
all under the scenes. That's all private, and it's really
illegal anyway, because that's circumventing the salary cap. So the

(05:47):
player wants to be able to walk into a room
and go, look at me, I'm the highest paid guy.
Now who are you? It's an ego thing.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Hey, you know that alcohol company that's the official sponsor
of of your team and my team, Micah, you want
to be the spokesperson for that and gets you your
extra thirty million dollars a year.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I can make a phone call.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, I mean that's well, it's soaking every other owner
and not that that doesn't happen. But I'm telling you players,
you know you don't get Tim Tony ego. Don't get
the Tims and Tony's in mine who's very often who
don't care about their egos. When Pop says that, are
you over yourself? Most people aren't, and especially athletes, and

(06:32):
that will you know, back to the Wimby thing. And
I can see Wimby following in the footsteps of Tim
and David because they could have gotten better deals and
more money if they don't want to do more stuff elsewhere.
And I can see him deciding to take less money
because of the international star that he is and the
fact that he can speak fourteen different languages and and

(06:55):
do ads in every country in the own language. I
can see him doing that because of the type of
person he is. And he is over himself at twenty
one years old. But I don't think Michah Parsons is.
And I think Micah wants to be able to walk
out there and go I won the bidding war and
I got over on Jerry, and I'm now the highest
paid edge rusher who's next.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, and I think unfortunately because he's into his podcasting
and social media stuff. Yeah, that's where I lean more
along the lines. If I don't think he's gonna try
to help the Cowboys out.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
He can.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
He can stay faced and say all the right things,
but at the end of the day, it's what that
final black and white on the contract says. You know,
it's whatever that final number says. And then we'll figure
out if Micah is a man of his word when
it comes to Hey, I'd rather help the team out
so it benefits me and the team to help us

(07:49):
get better, or do I only care about myself?

Speaker 2 (07:52):
I think he can.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I think he wants both, but I think he will.
If Hendrickson signs first, then he'll get a little bit
more than him Drickson does. If Jerry signs Mica first,
then Hendrickson well, and like you said, Hendrickson is probably
gonna have to play for the low thirties. Don't know
how he's going to be able to pull that off.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
He's going to demand a trade, I mean he already has,
but yeah, he's not a Bengal after this year.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
He's not getting the big dollars. The Bengals just don't
do it that way. And they've already paid Burrow and
Chase and Higgins and there's no more money to be had.
All right, one more segment to go, we wrap up
the week. Next, it's The Andy Everette Show on the
