Speaker 1 (00:03):
This is the Andy Average Extravaganza podcast from the podcasting
studio on Stone Oak in two eighty one. Yes, I
shouldn't say that to me. It could be somebody waiting
in the parking lot.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
That's okay. We got security.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
He looked really dangerous. He was shorter than Tom Cruise.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
And actually they're security monitors. No, they're tough, all right,
big games tonight. Knicks are pacers, uh man, I got
the Knicks. I'll take the Pacers. I got the Knicks,
although I think that Tyrese Haliburton might have just gave
them some bulletin board material with the old choke sign
in game one when he just tied it.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
I'm more confident for the Knicks tonight. Not so confident
about hockey. No.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
No, that's gonna be a tough one man.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
That is that is going to be a war. Oh.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I think it's going to be a great game to watch.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
The Yes, a great game to watch, and I think
the advantage. I just don't think Skinner is a great goalie.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
That's tough.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
And the Stars do have a great goalie Star, yes
they do. We will see what happens in that game. Okay,
we've talked earlier about Oklahoma City, whether anybody's gonna beat
Oklahoma City anyway. They look really really strong and really
really good. And they too can score.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yes, and they've got defense though they shot people down.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
And they give away a lot of T shirts, Yeah,
they do. They give away a lot of T shirts.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
You know what I don't get though, And I guess
it's a tradition, but them standing until they score, I mean,
what happens if they go for it? Because the other
night the game was a Game one or Game seven,
I forget which one where there was like four minutes
before they scored.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I was in those poor people.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
You know. Did Spurs fans ever do that?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
No, I think there was a time at the arena
that not in I don't remember that. I'm trying to
think if that ever happened. I know when I was
in college.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Well, college makes sense. I get that in.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
College Wichita State, the crowd would stand until the other
team scored.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Kyle Field, they stand the whole game. Why do they
even have seats?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
You can't tell.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Why do they have seats?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Stand up?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I know, but why do they even have seats?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I mean, then you know, you could probably fit more
people in there without the seats.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
They might do that, don't don't.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Two hundred thousand people in there and they just do that.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Cooper fly clearly the number one pick, and I think
the Mavericks have already selected him.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, well they say they have. Well wouldn't you?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Okay, well yeah, but who do the Spurs take?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Well, that's tough.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
And you know, both those kids out of Rutgers are
good players, but I think Harper has the edge.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Okay, Now I haven't read anything on the NBA pre
draft camp. Okay, did those Rutgers kids go to that
pre draft camp? I don't know. I don't know, don't know.
I have to you have to have to find that out.
Maybe we should do that for next week.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Should we? Should we go ahead and book an NFL draft.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Expert or an NBA draft export No, no, I know,
I don't want to mention any name. No, No, could
do that. We could we could, so Cooper Flag number one,
Spurs number two. I think one of the Rutgers kids.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
I think so. I think so.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Giannis from the Bucks. Giannis told the guy for the
ESPN guy that he doesn't necessarily want to leave.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
No, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
I mean, you know, everybody all this talk about where
he could go and where he could end up, has
anybody ever heard him say that? You know, I definitely
want out. I mean, think about this. He's the highest
paid player for the next three years in the NBA.
His contract is that much. Yeah, so it's going to
be hard to move him. First of all, if you
want him, you're gonna have to You're gonna have to
be very creative to get him.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
I don't like I say I know nothing because I'm
not talking to anybody or anything like that. But I
wonder what the draft, the Spurs money situation looks like,
because when you have all these young players, they start
their their rookie contracts run out, and I think the tall,
skinny kid, he's going.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
To get a lot of money and a lot of money.
You're going to get a lot of money. And you
realize he's still growing. I know, he's getting taller apparently,
which is amazing. You know what we should talk about
next time? Okay, you want to do this? I don't
know sure. This project Marvel, I have done very little.
I've done a little bit of research on it and
done a lot. Yeah, and here's here's the hold up

(04:19):
on it though, because you got this mayor election coming up,
and I think both of the mayor mayrina people, Yeah,
the mayoral candidates or might want to put it on
hold until they get more information.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
So this could just drag it out for a while.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Well, they need that to sign him, Yes, I agree,
they need They need that to sign him, and he
needs that for them to sign him.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
And if they don't do this, if there's let's just
say something happens and they don't decide to build a
new arena to the Spurs still stay here, where would
they go? I don't know. Seattle's looking for a team.
They had one member.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
They left, Yeah, I know they want another one.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, I know, I know.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
And that's Vegas one too.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
I know.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
This is the hot place right now.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Vegas is a hot place right now. You ain't you
think about that? If this San Antonio loses the Spurs,
what happens to San Antonio?

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I mean that's kind of.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Not falling off to the ocean, no, but but.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
The identity of Spurs in San Antonio, I mean that
that would be that would be a big hit.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Well, that's the that's the thing we faced in ninety nine. Yeah,
was we don't we don't get an arena. They you know,
the Baltimore deal was just about a none deal. So
you know when we ended up, they hadn't messed up
the building though I don't know, they just hadn't made
it an uncomfortable building.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
But I'm hoping if they do something downtown, if this
actually comes to Fruition and it actually is where they
say it's going to be, build an entertainment district around it.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
You know, That's what that part of it.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Well, that was part of when they build the SVC
Center also was supposed to be that way, and they
never did it. So saying you're going to do it
and doing it are two different things. But if they
did that, I think you'd see a lot more locals
going downtown, you know, spending spending dollars downtown around the arena,
you know, even if you don't go to a game.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
The other important part about this, if I understand it correctly,
and I really don't know that I do, it would
redo the Alamo domes, yes, which needs to be improved. Yes,
so we can continue to attracts and all that kind
of stuff. So that that's also really important, and not
just the final four.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
But there's other things that can come there too.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Yeah. From the sports angle, the college football playoff should
be here, could put it. Yeah, if we have enough
seats and all that kind of stuff, certainly we can
handle the rest of the stuff that goes with it.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
And the other thing about downtown building that arena, what
about parking? Man, you know, what are you going to
do about that. It's not going to have any parking.
Everybody's gonna have to uber in or you know, parking
ride in. I mean, that's always been a situation where
they build that Alamo Dome that holds sixty five thousand
people and build thirty five hundred parking spots.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
We're all not riding together, are we.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
I don't want anybody riding in my car.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
It took me to go to the Alamo Bill this year.
I was on I was on two thirty five whatever, yeah,
thirty seven, and I was approaching the Commerce Street exit
and it took another forty five minutes sco Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah, that's tough time.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
As they had a detour. You had to go Upcommerce
Cut across go around.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Why didn't you go up to Durango. Well, you know
they call it Caesar Chavez.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I didn't know that you can get off there. Again,
I thought they had closed that now that they had
it opened it down, I didn't know that. Yeah, but anyway,
but yeah, I think But I'm what I'm wondering now,
this is just the thought that pops in my mind.
With so many people ubering, why not build a longer
Uber parking lot. I like that, so you can take
Uber and get to a game.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, that makes sense too.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
You can use that old via a transit station they
have there by the albomodough make that turn that into
a Uber parking area.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
If you fly into a big city, like if you
fly it to JFK, there's a separate Uber lot. Thank
you that they take you to. That's off from where
the terminals are, and there are all your Uber cars
and it wasn't hard to find out car at all.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Boom boom, get in go.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
So I'm wondering why they don't just do that.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
That makes sense.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
That would be cheaper than building a garage.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, I think we're laid to get out.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
I don't know about the no no' okay, I don't
know about the economics though, because usually the team wants
to charge for parking, right, so you know, I'll have
to see. And the other problem was if you want
an NFL team, the NFL team wants to control the
parking because they want the revenue. True, all right, we're
gonna come back and talk some more. We haven't give
it out the phone number, but I know you're not
going to use it anyway.
