Speaker 1 (00:04):
We'll see tomorrow if Mark vandamer can join us as
there in West Virginia this week with the Texans. We'll
also have Dot Garrett move up a day to Tuesday
because I am going to take my last sabbatical on
Wednesday for one day.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Good for you, especially because between as everyone knows, beeen
August and April, you are booked.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I'm booked.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Yeah, my social calendar is full and there you may
get hours, but you're not gonna get days. All right,
I have a story here and I'll be as delicate
as I can with this. In College Park, Georgia, at
the game the other night, between the Dream and the Valkyries,
somebody else decided to throw a toy out on the court,

(00:50):
and adult toy at that, and they arrested a guy
named Delbert Carver. On Saturday, he is going to have
a court date where he's going to face disorderly conduct
publicly public and decency in decent exposure and criminal trespass.
I'm not sure how the criminal trespass works, because he
had a ticket, I guess, But the other stuff, I guess.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
They can throw the book at him.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
And he was released on an undisclosed Bond.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Obviously there are.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Some stereotypical undertones with him throwing that onto the court,
but just as important, when you throw something out where
players are playing basketball, they can step on it and
blow out a knee blot and achilles and get hurt.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
There is absolutely no call for that whatsoever.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
The problem though, that I'm having with this is not
what happened in Georgia, but this happened in Chicago a
few nights before, and there has not been an arrest made.
And it was with the Sky and the Valkyries, and
Chicago police have responded to ESPN by saying, we didn't
see a call of service for that incident. So either

(02:03):
somebody is protecting the person that did this in Chicago
or they just don't care.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, that sounds like and to me, that's listen.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
I know there's probably different laws in Georgia than there
is in Illinois, but you got to you gotta dip
this in the but you cannot let this happen.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
This is not cool. Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
To some you might find it humorous, it's not, uh.
And it's if we're gonna the w NBA needs to
peruse facial recognition or whatever throughout that entire arena to
find out what happened in Chicago, and the person there
needs to face some similar consequences.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
You're if you go to a game.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
One of the disclaimers it's always out there is please
do not throw anything on the floor.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Please do not disrupt the action.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
You are here, even if you're a court side, you
can't go across the line. You know you're gonna get
ejected from games and you're gonna get banned from stadiums
in arenas if you continue to do this. And I
hope Delbert Carver gets a lifetime expand a band from
the w n b A and many other things that
he may want to go to.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
It's just thought, just not right.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, they did something similar to this a couple of
years ago in the NFL and even before that with baseball,
so this is nothing new.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Well, the two guys the Yankees that were pulling on
Mookie Betts's arm last year in the World Series.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, yeah, see you you're out of here.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, but this is in a way though, I mean
in a way, and obviously it's worse because if you
throw it during d'ur in a men's game, it's like
it's a distraction tool, whereas if it's in a winen's
women's game, there's a different consonance that goes along with.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
It, and it's not and it's one that's could be
bordering on hate crime too.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I mean, yeah, I was I was gonna say some
I was gonna say something else, but hate crime is
playing more appropriate with that. Yeah, it's just you know,
one thing that no one's really asking about this, And
not to make it light, but I have to. I
have to wonder where are they hiding these things.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I'm sure they're in They're in the jacket or in
the pocket or whatever, but it.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Does it's not the imagine how did you.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Get you know, I don't know that. You know, I'm
not going sorry to get started, like throw that question
out there.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
But yeah, how did you get it past the battle
detector and the security screen and putting everything in the
deal before you walked into the into the into the arena.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
And to wrap things up tonight, the NCUBA Basketball Tournament
will stay in sixty eight games for twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I'm fine with this.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I think that's until they figure out what they want
to do. If you have any more games, you're going
to have to start thinking about buys for the first
four teams. You also have to look at the fact
that CBS is paying for this, whether it's partners at
True TV and the two Turner Networks t n T
and TBS, And they only have from the time that

(04:46):
the basketball season ends and the conference tournament's ends, and
we start that usually around Saint Patrick's Day. They got
three weeks and then it's time for the Masters. And
as much as the NCUBA Tournament is important, they're not
pushing the Masters back other week. The Masters is always
going to be the second weekend in April sacred. Never
say it is a sacred date on the sports calendar.

(05:07):
So you're either gonna have to play more games a week,
you're gonna have to fly more people around and I'm ready.
You know, if you're not in the top sixty eight,
play better next year. It's if you missed by a
little bit. Okay, we can't just give everybody a trophy.
You know, play better and don't worry about it when
your league and win your league tournament. I would like

(05:28):
to see teams that win their conference regular season, they'll
get rewarded and it not just be the tournament.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
All right. That'll wrap it up for today, thanks to Shane.
See tomorrow four. It's the Indy Everage Show on the
tipp Hi. Everyone, it's Andy Everett.
