Speaker 1 (00:04):
Or football stuff and draft to get to in a second.
I said last week on Thursday that any game that
Jimmy Butler does not play in should be an easy
Houston win. And then there was Game four and it
was not an easy Houston. It was Game three, Yeah,
game three, and it was not an easy Houston win.
So now it's two to one Golden State thanks to
(00:26):
a serious missteps by Houston not to take advantage of
the fact that Butler was out and the Warriors simply
don't have very much scoring. Now, Steph was Steph as
he usually is, and they got a little contribution from
a couple of other players, but for the most part,
you're talking about a minimum of thirty thirty five points
a game from a playoff player. That's what Jimmy Butler
(00:47):
is going to usually give you in the playoffs. He
is expected to come back to night and play and
be ready for the for Game four. I just got
this notification a little bit. He should be back for
Game four tonight. And this is one that the Rockets
are going to have to get if they want to
(01:07):
win this division or this playoff series, because I think
if Golden State goes up three to one, it's pretty
much over as long as Butler is any some semblance
of himself. So Houston missed a golden opportunity and they
had every opportunity to win that game, and they played
like a bunch of people that were in experience and
didn't know what to do.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, you know, like you mentioned, besides Steph Curry, the
only other particular players you could say that kind of
stepped up in Jimmy Butler's absence was your guy Buddy
Heald actually showed up for once with seventeen, and then
Gary Payton the second with sixteen. But other than that,
everybody else was kind of very minimal. But if you
(01:47):
look at the Rockets, you're assuming that your star player
Alfa echin Goon is going to do more than fifteen points. Now,
don't get me wrong, the the Rockets played well, they
just didn't play well enough. Because if you told me, hey,
you're starting five is going to have everybody's going to
be in double digits, and you're gonna have, you know,
about twenty five to thirty points coming off the bench,
(02:09):
you would probably take that most nights.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, but I think when the Warriors before Jimmy Butler
were struggling to be in the play in tournament. Correct,
And when Jimmy got there, they all of a sudden
they almost barely. They barely They got the seventh seed,
but they could have gotten out. They could have been
the sixth seed if they won a couple extra games.
They still weren't this threat, if you will, from a playoff.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Standpoint, Thank you Harrison Barnes by the way, on that one. Yeah,
well he came here, but well I don't know that
he would have even well, no, because remember the Harrison
Barnes three point shot when they played the Warriors basically
screwed them.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Oh yeah, well here's some Spurs beating them. Yeah. But
see that thing is Spurs had no business beating a
team that's trying to be in the playoffs. They tanked
that game, not intentionally, but unintentionally, had a bad a
bad day to have a bad day. And so anyway,
with Butler and Curry there, and as they said this
last week, if they score seventy five or eighty, they're
(03:09):
going to be hard to beat. But if you can
combo them into scoring sixty, then you can probably beat them.
And without them, I just didn't think the Golden had
had enough firepower. And even though I'll give credit for
the Warriors winning that game, I'm also going to give
credit for Houston losing that game because it's a game
that Houston had, they had more experience, and they had
been in that situation before, could have smelled enough blood
(03:29):
in the water to attack and win that game and
be back up to one and reclaim homecourt advantage. They
still are going to have to win now in San
Francisco to win this series, and if they don't win tonight,
they're going to be down to you know, the game
six coming up, or the Warriors could win any of
the next three games and win the series. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
I mean you would assume that maybe in a crucial
game like that, a guy who has playoff experience and
championship experience, Fred Van Vliet, And again he didn't play bad,
seventeen points, led the Rockets and scoring, But you would
assume that somebody would try to, Hey, we've got to
(04:09):
take advantage of Jimmy Butler not being here. We have
to pounce on them now. We have to be a
shark with smelling blood in the water. And they just didn't.
Does them not jumping on the rocket on the Warriors. Now,
like you mentioned, could this potentially mean they get a.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
First round because Butler's back tonight and they could be
up three to one, and then they're the ones that
are They're the two seven, and they're gonna probably play
the the Timberwolves should they close out there series. Speaking
of that, the game the other night where I guess
it was Game four Timberwolves are No, that was the
(04:49):
Nuggets game. We'll get to the Nuggets game in a second.
But the Timberwolves go up three to one on the Lakers.
Luca and Lebron are playing as good as two guys
that are. You know, Lebron's forty and Luca's hasn't played
the whole year. That's the Lakers right there. But Anthony
Edwards is being Anthony Edwards and the good Anthony Edwards.
I have some issues with Anthony Edwards the BRACKETOSHA superstar,
(05:11):
but unlike Shnor Sanders, he usually backs it up and
so he can get away with it a little bit.
I have a major issue with him neglecting his parental
duties for this child that he allegedly allegedly created, and
I just think we're in a situation here where where
(05:31):
this is the Lakers are. The Lakers' chances aren't looking
very good going forward. They're going to have to win.
They're gonna have to get this series even back up
pretty quickly. And I don't know that they can.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
No, you can't have and again all respect and credit
to Lebron, but Lebron is forty years old. You can't
have Lebron James playing forty six minutes out of a
forty eight minute total game. But it did go to
show that JJ Reddick does not trust his bench enough,
(06:01):
you know, especially former Longhorn with Jackson Hayes is I
mean the starting center with Jackson Hayes only plays four minutes.
You know that they they realized, hey, he's not he's
offensively challenged. We got to make sure that whye play
him in the first place? Exactly why play him in
the first place? But you can't you can't have Lebron
(06:22):
and Luca playing forty six.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Well that's the only way they're going to win. Well, well,
that's the only chance they got is that those two guys,
they're very much in the same boat. I think that
the Warriors are in with Butler and Curry, those guys
are going to have to score seventy five points, and
if they don't, the Lakers don't have enough firepower. I
know everybody's in love with Austin Reeves. I never have been.
I didn't think he was that good at ou He's a.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Good He's just good. He's a solid number three on
that roster. He on any that roster. Yes, he's a
week number three. On any other roster, he'd be a
six or a seven. Yeah, well he would probably be.
You know, Austin Reeves make the starting lineup for the Spurs.
I think you could make the case he could.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I wouldn't, but he would probably be. He would be
the sixth man, he'd be the fourth guy off the
Spurs bench. And the Spurs were not a playoff team,
that's Austin ree he'd make the roster. I'm not saying
he's not a roster player, but I don't think Austin
Reeves is going to give you thirty six minutes a
night and score twenty five. That's not Austin Reeves, not
on a consecutive basis or consistent at all. Yeah, all right,
(07:23):
more coming up. We'll get to all of that next.
It is the and the average show on the ticket
