Speaker 1 (00:03):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's our number two of the program. Thank you for
spending your afternoon with us wherever it is that you
may be. We talked about shad Or Sanders and his
attitude that costume at least a couple of rounds in
the NFL draft, and a little bit on the NBA
playoffs and the phenomenon that is the Savannah Bananas selling
out Clemson's football stadium for a baseball game on Saturday evening.

(00:27):
Let's turn our attention back to the draft, into the
Cowboys draft, and this I think is one of the
best drafts that Jerry Jones has had to while.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
From top to bottom, Let's go down the picks.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
What did we say that the Cowboys needed when we
were talking last week. Offensive line, running back, wide, receiver
and if they do play, if they do go defense,
they need somebody at corner with all the injuries and
players that they have to replace there. They got Tyler
Booker with the first round. He is a solid offensive
lineman from Alabama Bickley, Alabama. Offensive lignement are usually pretty

(01:02):
easily transitioned into the NFL, and he needs somebody to
play right guard to take the place of one Zach Martin.
Now Tyler Geiiton needs some help. He needs to get
better in a hurry to be the other tackle on
that side of the field. And then if with their
other pick, Jarry Cornelius is to be determined as to

(01:22):
whether or not he's where he's going to develop. But
at worse, I would imagine he's on a practice squad.
So they solve they solve problem one by getting better
on the offensive line with the the addition of Tyler Booker.
There they got an edge wresher in is ziri ka
a zeri uku?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Is that how you pronounce that? Shane Donovan as araku?
Thank you as a roku? All right? That was close?

Speaker 2 (01:47):
So as Araku Boston College edge. What the second pick?
This replaces DeMarcus Lawrence on the other side of Parsons, correct.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I would assume yeah, if nothing else, it is more
at that position because again, remember they will have Marshawn
Neeland who got injured early last season and then came
back towards I want to say, maybe like four or
four games left in the season, five games, So if
nothing else, it gives them the potential to where he
can be.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
DeMarcus Lawrence replacement. All right.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
The cornerback they got in Chavon Revelle is absolutely the
steal of every draft pick at every player in this draft.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
If he is healthy.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Mel Kiper had him rated as the number one cornerback
a year ago now when he was a junior and
decided to stay one more year at East Carolina. UTSA
did not have to play against him because he got
hurt I think in Week two or week three, and
they played a Big ten team like Michigan or Wisconsin
or someone like that, and he got hurt in that game.

(02:48):
Acl was out for the rest of the year. But
that was a September injury, so he should be cleared
for contact nine months later, So that puts him into
June in the training camp.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
He should be able to go.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
And I remember talking to the UTSA coaches prior to
the East Carolina game and not as I said in
the beginning of the show today, nobody is ever going
to wish injury on someone, but him not being on
the field allowed the allowed UTSA to throw to both
sides of the field. He is a shut down cornerback

(03:22):
if that knee heals properly and he's able to play
and you know, acls are weird. Sometimes they don't heal properly,
and sometimes most of the time they do ninety percent
of the time they do. If he can stay on
the field and stay healthy, he can be as starter
at cornerback as early as week one if he's healthy
and ready to go.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Oh yeah, without a doubt.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
And you know, looking at when they showed him, he looked,
I mean just looking wise, he looked physically fine.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
He looked he didn't look.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Any gimpy whatsoever when he was, you know, jumping up
and down, big corner six'.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Two SO i like that one ninety.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Four not overly weight, wise, heavy but not under underly weight.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Wise. UH i think that that's god. Speed he's got amazing.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Speed he's got a great, catch he can catch up to,
passes he can he can play, Man amanda. Man he
can guard the other team's best. Receiver and this IS
i think this is the steal of the. Draft if
he turns out to be healthy and okay to okay to,
PLAY i think he's.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Definitely one of the steals of the, draft like you,
mentioned if he is, healthy because, obviously when we talked
to Mac ingle a couple months. Ago there's still question
about Uh Trayvon, diggs you, know because he Maybe trayvon's
career could be.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
In question or he may not be.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Ready but now if If revel does wind up being
the number one or number two Until trayvon gets, back
you Have Deron bland as.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Well so that's a good that's a good.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Second the defense got, better the offensive line got, better
and now he got to address running.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Back they already Had Miles.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
SANDERS i didn't Have, Jada jade And blue going, there
BUT i like it, speed, yes AND i think that
the combination Of sanders And blue is a lot better
than what they had last year With Rico, daddle And
Rico daddle had a thousand yard. SEASON i just don't
think he put fear in. DEFENSES i don't think defensive game. Plan,

(05:20):
oh if he wants to rush for six, yards, fine
he won't really fall down on the next play or
it'll be a negative play because the offensive line is.
Terrible both of these, GUYS i think really legitimize the
running back. Room it's not going to be one star
in a kind of a little bit of a. Backup
it's instead of having a nine a four in your.
BACKFIELD i think he got two seven and a, halfs

(05:42):
and this can be something that could help The cowboys
and Protect Dak Dak prescott When Ezekiel elliott was in his,
prime and third down and two was an option of
what you do offensively in ninety percent of the, time
it was a running play and the other team knew,
it and and not only the other team know, it
but you could you could go for it and run the.

(06:04):
Football that was always a, really really good. Thing SO
i like the running back. PICKUP i don't know a
lot About Shamar james the linebacker At florida Or cornelius
the offensive. Lineman the rest of these, Picks Toya MafA
And i'm gonna guess at this, One Aikin Bezotto.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
JANE i don't know this.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
One we're just gonna call Him, Tommy, Tommy i'm going Aking.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Bezotto.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Sure so, anyway those, guys if they make the, roster,
great they're probably on a practice squad or somebody else's
practice squad if they. Don't but those first five Picks
i'm okay, with except they left one thing off the.
Board and this is why the draft goes from me
from AN a minus to A b. Minus they did
not address wide. Receiver they don't have anybody other Than Ceedee.

(06:52):
Lamb turpin is a punt returner and a special teams,
guy and a third or a fourth wide.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Receiver at, best.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
You've got to have somebody on the other side of
the ball that creates separation so That Ceedee lamb is
not constantly double. Teamed there is a discussion In Frisco
land that it is likely that The cowboys are going
to attempt to go after A Marii cooper who was
let go by the or contract expired with The. BROWNS

(07:21):
i don't hate this. Choice there may be other, younger
better players that they could have gotten in the. Draft
there may be an unrestricted free agent that they can
sign to an unrestricted, contract a undrafted free, agent bring
him in and let them fight for the. Job AND
i would imagine they'll scour and sign four or five
unrestricted undrafted free agents and see who they can who

(07:44):
they can sign from. There but a combination Of cooper
and Then turpin is number three or four and one.
More that's a we don't know about. Yet if, that
if that, HAPPENS i think The cowboys can win nine
or ten. Games they seven without everything with the weaker,
schedule and the division schedule is still, Tough they're gonna.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
They have the chance to beat The giants.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Twice ALTHOUGH i thought The giants had a pretty decent
draft as. Well, uh, well they Got you don't Like Jackson.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
DART i like That Bill.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
CARTER i do Like Jackson, dart BUT i thought it
was stupid for what they gave up to move up
to Get Jackson.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Dart, YEAH i Think, jackson, well he's better Than Tommy,
DeVito he's better Than Jameis, winston and he might be better
Than Russell wilson by week. Five, true they don't have
a very good quarterback, room so they they have what
they think could potentially be their quarterback of the future
if he develops, correctly And Abduall carter it can be
a Shutdown edgresher on the other. Side so BUT i

(08:45):
think that you can beat Beat philadelphia once and if
you lose twice To, washington you can still be a wildcard.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
TEAM i think.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
They can go four and two in that division with
the other six, games and then whatever they do with
the rest of, THEM i think they can get to
ten wins if they can address the wide receiver position
between now and week. One we did learn That may
fourteenth is going to be when they release the schedule
order and game times.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
And all that kind of.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Stuff that was a big hooplof or nothing, Yet, well
why don't you just tell us you already know what it.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Is could have been done in two, minutes and it
took them about Ten, well.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
It took them about ten minutes to tell us that
we're not going to tell you Till may. Fourteenth On may,
fourteenth they'll probably have A now there's also. Discussion this
is just this is killing me a little. Bit Roger
goodell is trying to figure out a way to shorten
the length Of thursday night's first round.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Draft who.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Cares we look forward all year to THE Nfl. Draft
the second draft that we look forward to is THE Nba.
Draft h and they do all that in one. Night
but you can't shorten the periods between when these teams are,
drafting because you need three or four or five minutes
if you're going to work out a, trade and if

(09:57):
Draft day is even a semblance of what, happened you
need a few minutes to get all the particulars on
the phone and come up with a.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
DEAL i look at it this.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Way if you're watching every minute of the draft from
seven o'clock to, midnight are you really gonna are you
really going to care if it's if it finishes at
eleven forty or eleven twenty or eleven, fifteen you're still
watching till the end of the. Draft the biggest, issue
and you brought this up when we were talking before
the show, today if you were to reduce the first

(10:30):
round by two, minutes that would give you an extra,
hour WHICH i ensure YOU espn would create more inventory
for ads for that hour because they're going to stay
on till midnight anyway dissecting what we just. Did so
let them dissect while we're drafting. Players it's A tv
show and it's five hours, long and there's nothing wrong with,
it and it happens once a.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Year it's not. Broken don't fix.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
It, yeah, yeah you, know if you look at it
from the standpoint of you, know Because Roger goodell said
this On friday On The Idiot Kicker Former Idiot kickers.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
SHOW i can't stand the. GUY i really can't.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Is that he thought, about you, know and he's just,
spitballing but he's, like, hey maybe cut it down three
minutes to wear in the first. Round it's just they
get seven. Minutes but then he starts going on. This
but if they're in the process of maybe making a,
trade it's, like all, right then let's come up with
all these other. Stipulations, well they can get a one
time lifeline phone call and say, hey we need an.

(11:33):
Extension you know how long before we get A Nikola
jokic style of let's just, say you, know Randomly owen
McCown in the twenty twenty SEVEN nfl, draft the number one, pick, oh,
sorry we got to cut to commercial because if you're
cutting it, down because we kind of did the, math
if you're cutting it down three minutes per pick in

(11:53):
the first round thirty two, teams realistically it's about ninety,
minutes so that's an hour and a. Half what does
that wind? Up do we they need to squeeze in more.
Commercials you're gonna get less. Airtime are we gonna get
a picture in picture style Of, hey the seventh pick
turns into what we don't get to hear the commissioner come.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Out it's a taco bell.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Commercial all, right here's a couple of things on The,
cowboys real, quick leave the draft, Alone, Roger it's, fine
like it is. Exactly cowboys are signing un undrafted free
Agents Josh kelly From Texas, Tech Trey Shawn holden From. Oregon,
shane Is Josh kelly any?

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Good Josh kelly in the way he was using how
he plays similar to what The cowboys had years ago
In Cole.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Beasley yes or, No, shane that's all the team or?
Not maybe as a sixth. OPTION i don't Think i'll give.
US i don't know anything About Tree Shawn.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Olden they signed two tight, Ends Tyler novelle In Rivaldo.
Fairweather they got an extra quarterback From steven F Aston Bruce,
arman and defensive backs From syracuse And kentucky And Eastern.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Kentucky here's the, one real, quick going back To jaden
because you would ask me over the. Weekend my only
my only negative On Jayden blue is he did have
an issue with fumbling and that and that wound up
hurting him.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
To where care for?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
That But Contravian weisner wound up overtaking him in the.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Depth tar you have to sleep with your football you
have to take it to, dinner you have to you
have to take it.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Everywhere he is a dependable running. Back he can catch
the ball out of the.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
BACKFIELD i would say maybe his his other struggle could
possibly be pass.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Protection but or.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
To start the, season he will probably be the number
two or number, three BUT i would say within six
or seven games he should.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Legitimately be the.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Starter, Him miles And Miles sanders at the end of the,
day are going to carry the ball Or Javonte.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Williams if they go With Javonte, williams because, Statistically javante.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Played better Than Miles.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Sanders, well, combinator it's blue and a combination of one
of the other.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Guys you can't play three.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Runs it should be and again and, again depending on
the legal, issues BECAUSE i don't know if he got
picked up anywhere so, far but he obviously did not get.
Drafted Isaiah, bond the Former Texas longhorn wide. RECEIVER i
don't know if he signed anywhere as an undrafted free,
agent but that could be a potential that they go

(14:17):
kick the.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Doors on his.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Wall if they find, Out, hey he's going to get.
Cleared everything's going to be. GOOD i would make a
phone call to him.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Immediately All, right we've got some nil news shocking that
that's a topic.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Still we'll talk about that coming.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Up what utsa that got in the draft Was Zay
frazier going to The bears and the players that are
going to get a chance to make rosters as camp
invitees or undrafted free.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Agents that's coming up next on the ticket
