Speaker 1 (00:03):
I don't think she'll go in the first round, but
it depends on who you talk to. Everybody's got a
different opinion. We'll see if Jordan Jenkins from UTSA gets
drafted in the second or third round. I do think
she'll get a camp invite regardless, and if she gets
camp invite, they'll find she's got some intangibles that a
lot of teams may be able to use. There's now

(00:24):
thirteen teams in the WNBA with the addition of the Valkyrie,
the Valkyries from Golden State to San Francisco, and I
think Toronto joins the league next year, so there's thirty
nine teams that are going to be There's thirty nine
selections in the three rounds of the draft, and I
don't have the numbers right from me. I'm just talking
this off the top of my head. There are of

(00:47):
the thirty nine picks last year, I think twelve made
WNBA rosters and the others were waived basically, and it
wasn't all the first rounders. Who are a couple of
first rounders that didn't make it and a couple of
second rounders that did, and then everybody else didn't. So
even if you get drafted because there's not a lot
of term. It's not like you have thirty teams and

(01:08):
you have thirteen active players and you have two that
are on the G League train and you've got two
more that you're developing, and you know all this kind
of stuff. Uh, it's and or an entire Chi League
roster that you can develop. Uh, it's not like that.
In the WNBA. It's hard to get on a team.
And once you get on a team, it's unless you're
kind of pretty much an idiot, you're going to stay

(01:30):
on the team for a couple of years as well.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, well, two things. One when you look at what
ESPN's best available is, unfortunately they do not have Jordan
in the top sixty four. But she at least has
a little bit of a And this is me me saying,
I would say she has a little bit of a
pun on words, a little ace in her pocket because

(01:53):
Becky's been Bey's, Becky's seen her play, and she didn't
have an else maybe, like you said, I can't invite.
But here's the other thing. Because the NBA obviously has
the G League, and as much as you and I
aren't really big on the three v Three rivals or
unrivals thing. What if they tried to somehow down the

(02:14):
road because it has money, it's making money, maybe they
kind of use that to almost be a G league
to a certain extent for the w NBA.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
But the early reason, the only way that that actually
works long term is if you have players that people
know and I think as a cube, that ice cube
that's doing that.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
League, that's the Big Three, that's for the man, that's
for the washed NBA players.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Okay, So whether it's that league or any other league,
if you don't have star power, nobody's gonna watch. And
if nobody watches, it's eventually not gonna make money, even
though that there's opportunities for it. But to say that,
I mean Caitlin Clark was offered ridiculous money to play
in it. Page is getting more money to play in that,
then she's going to get to play in the WNBA.

(02:58):
But if TV ratings suffer, then that money's not going
to be there. It's going to go away. What you
really need to do if you're not a WNBA player
is going to play in Europe. And unfortunately the best
league used to be Russia and until Russia and Ukraine
get their difference is settled. Nobody's going to Russia for
pretty much anything. But there are leagues in Europe, in

(03:19):
Spain and in Italy that do provide good competition to
get you ready for another run at it in the future,
once you're a little bit older. All right, six o'clock
hour coming up next, Mike Bud's getting paid to not work.
We'll talk about that next. It's the Andy Everage Show.
