Speaker 1 (00:04):
We left the show today with the proclamation that we
weren't going to talk about how this win against the
Eagles yesterday was going to be a springboard towards a
playoff push, which you instantly rattled off their next opponents,
and how it wins against them.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Could actually push to the Cowboys up the standing.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
We're just trying to be realistic as all.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I think there's a lot of value in trying to
trying to hold on to some of that realistic perspective.
But all that being said, tomorrow we will tell you, no,
I'm kidding. Tomorrow, we'll talk about the pending playoff push. No, tomorrow,
I've got so much from the cutting room floor today.
(00:44):
We haven't even gotten to the rest of NFL Week twelve.
We've rushed through some college football talk here, which we'll
get into in a second. So we'll have plenty to
get back into tomorrow as I'm back in for and
again in the big chair. But in the time we
have left, let's jump back into the college football Because
(01:07):
the games that are left on the schedule, there aren't
a whole lot of obvious pathways to chaos. Now that
being said, if Mississippi State hauls off and wins the
Egg Bowl because the ole Miss players get wind that
Lane has already signed the contract with LSU, which we'll
(01:30):
see what Lane Kiffin decides to do after this game.
Apparently that could throw something off.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Also, like if you're if you're all Miss, if you're
the committee, like do you even want them at that point?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I would love to see what a two loss Ole
Miss UH looks like in the eyes of the playoff conty,
because you and I were talking about it during that
last break. You know, right now one through seven feel
pretty comfortable. Ohio State even with the loss to Michigan
this week in the game, I think they could lose
(02:02):
that and lose the Big Ten Championship game and still
get in. If Indiana loses the Big Ten Championship game
to Ohio State, they're in. If A and M loses
to Texas and then loses to Georgia in the SEC
Championship game, I think they're still in. Uh Georgia, as
you know just said. If they lose to Georgia Tech
(02:24):
somehow this week but then win the SEC Championship game,
they're in. Obviously, if they drop both those games, then
then you have a really interesting head to head comparison
between them and Texas where they have the head to
head tiebreaker amongst potential three loss schools that might still
a bid.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, it's that eight through fifteen.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
It's the rest of them.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
You know, you're gonna get a conference champions, you're gonna
get the at large, You're gonna get the group of
five team, which, by the way, I'm one of those
people that says the group of five needs to have
someone in there.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Ye stay, stay away found Bomb.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I don't want them to be I don't want an
elitism type of thing.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
And fine Bomb, by the way, who thinks that, Like,
oh the about like who wins their division every playoffs
has that?
Speaker 2 (03:03):
By the way, that's kind of how that works.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
It's literally how it works.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
It's literally he's just an SEC purist who's not very
smart and has big years.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
But I think that, Well, it gets paid by ESPN,
which is demanding all of their talents promote the SEC
over every other car.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Well, the media rites they do is bingo. I have
a couple all of the money, I have a couple
of games for you that like are under the radar
rivalry games that I think could change the top fifteen,
give or take. I think it is a realistic right.
So first one I start with is Utah traveling to Kansas.
It's in Lawrence. Kansas is five and six fighting for
a bowl game in Utah. Like you talked about, they
(03:41):
struggled last week against Kansas State. I think this is
an underrated game that could alter not just not just
obviously big twelve, that could alter the the at large teams.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
And I think Kansas has more talent on that roster
than their record indicate. Sure, especially at the skill positions.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
I don't disagree with that either. I think that my
team played Cannis. I'm very much aware of what they
can do, at least through the air. The running game
is kind of like it's not.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, it hasn't been where it's been the last few
years with a dominant running attack, dominant running back. But
Jaylen Daniels still he can win a game on his
own at the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
He's a good quarterback. Yeah, another game I won't watch
out for. And I expect this team to be ranked
this week. But Miami, who's thirteenth right now, A lot
of people think they could be up for an that bid,
an out large bit if they don't get the a
C Championship game, they travel to Pitt. Now, Pitt just
got off that big win against Georgia Tech, and Pitt
is still alive for the AEC Championship game as well,
depends on what happens with SMU and Virginia. It's you mentioned,
(04:40):
it's like five teams in the AEC still alive for
the Conference Championship, Pit being one of them.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
They host Miami.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't want to be traveling to
Pit in late November as they have something to play
for that PIT team is. I was really kind of
secretly high on them until they got embarrassed by Notre Dame.
And then that was the moment where I was like okay,
well I because I was secretly looking ahead at the schedule,
(05:08):
thinking okay, Pitt can be my chaos creator, like Pick
can be the team that throws a giant wrench if
they can beat Notre Dame, if they can beat Miami,
they beat Georgia Tech, like it was lining up where
they might have been a shadow. Uh you know, I
feel like fighting into one of those final spots.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
I feel like I was more impressed in that game
with Notre Dame.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Than I was concerned about Pitts because Notre Dame for
a while, I said, they've coasted on an easy schedule.
They didn't play anybody at pit to me was a
quality opponent and they and they weren't.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
And they went on the road.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, and in very uh very easy fashion too. What
else you got?
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Okay, So this one's this one's kind of like I
don't know about this, but number eleven b YU freshman
quarterback bear Backmeyer.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
They're hosting UCF.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
You se F is five and six had a big
win last week, final game of the year in uh
I think it's in Orlandos where they play uh U CF.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
So life for game.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
That's another one of those dangerous teams. And you know this,
any team that has something to play for is dangerous,
even if you're a team like BYU only has one
loss on the year and all they have to do
is win and they're in the Big twelve championship, So
that can be dangerous for a young team, especially.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Does BYU if they win this. I completely agree with you.
This game to me is about BYU understanding they have
business to take care of before the rematch. With Tech
and the Conference championship game. Does BYU get in as
one of the final at large teams if they win
this game but then lose to Tech in the Conference
(06:35):
championship game, it almost feels like BYU doesn't have a
pathway in. It's as a two loss team.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
It's tough.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
It depends up for me, honestly, like what the teams
ahead of them look like. So let's just say, hypothetically,
let's say BAMA does lose to Auburn and the Ron Bowl,
and let's just say, ypathetically, the ole that to Oklahoma
does lose to LSU. So BYU hypothetically jumps up to
number nine, right, and they win the game, and they
played Tech in the Big tal Championship. I think if
they play Tech closer in their first matchup where they
(07:03):
lost by twenty two points, but if they still lose
the Big Twelve Championship, I think they would get at
least a consideration because it's like, oh, this team is
better than they were a couple of weeks ago, and
I feel like the committee is going to be pressured
in that scenario to not put in at least for
SEC teams, but definitely not five.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, because then you would be looking at, you know, Vanderbilt,
who has Tennessee this week r in state rival. If
Vandy wins that game, they would end up a two
loss team that doesn't play in the conference championship game exactly.
But then I could see the committee pushing them ahead
of BYU. If BYU loses their conference championship game, which
(07:40):
I completely despise. I don't think the committee should penalize
you for losing an extra game that no one else
in your conference played except you and one other team.
That doesn't seem fair on the surface to me. I
don't disagree that, I feel like, but they're gonna do that.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
I mean, you can make the.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Argument that BYU or even Miami deserve an a large consideration.
But the last game I want you to look at
is Arizona travels on the road to ranked Arizona State. Now,
Arizona State is still alive for the Big Towel Championship.
They have to win and at least one or two
teams have to lose ahead of them for them to
get in. But what happens here is if you are
hypothetically a BYU team and you lose, now Arizona State
(08:17):
would get that bit into the big TOWLD championship game. A. So,
now BYU, you lost that game and you don't even
get to play for your conference championship game.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, then you're definitely definitely use I think.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
If Tech makes the big total championship game, they're in
no matter what. Agreed. Yeah, so if they play Arizona
State and they lose again, I think they would still
get in. But BYU not even playing for the conference
championship game, they're not They're not gonna get considered.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Well, and you mentioned it, I would suggest to my
Red Raider alum roommate and the majority of her extended
family that root for the Pirates up in Lubbock, don't
overlook that game in Morganstown this weekend. Don't over funny
things how luxury and to overlook them, funny things happen
on the road at West Virginia in the Big twelve.
(08:58):
Just ask former ask Texas fans what can happen at
West Virginia, especially an eleven am kickoff? I would don't
be looking ahead towards that conference championship game before you
take care of business. I agree, Well, we'll jump back
into more college football talk tomorrow because we've got to
what did I called it a pre preview? We've got
(09:20):
to actually preview some more of these games a little
more in depth as we get closer to the matchups
this weekend. But let's do some Lightning round next, where
apparently Kenyon Martin just does not like Draymond Green.
