Speaker 1 (00:03):
I said a long time ago that I would not
expect anybody to do what Tiger Woods did during his
career as a golfer. And even though Scotty Scheffler is
on a similar path, even Scotty hasn't quite gotten there yet,
He's got a few more years to accomplish it. I
like his chances, however, because he is dedicated to playing

(00:28):
golf at a high level. He does not look like
he's going to do something crazy and try to join
the Green Berets or some.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Navy seal team.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
He's going to do golf workouts, not other things, and
he is going to be in a position to where
where he's got a chance to win a lot of
golf tournaments for a lot of years. Now's I believe
he's got nine see, I think it's fifteen wins. I
have to go look and see what his number is
right now. I remember Jim Nance saying it yesterday what

(01:00):
it was, but it was it's kind of it's kind
of up there. He's always away from eighty two. I
think he's got I want to say sixteen wins now,
is that right? Total wins Total wins eighteen eighteen eighteen
Professional tournaments, including thirteen PGA Tour wins.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, well.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
So thirteen and three, so it's sixteen. Actually, I don't
know what the other two would be. That would not
count as PGA Tour wins unless he won a DP
World event or a Cornferry event, which he probably did,
maybe corn Fairy, So we'll.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Go sixteen wins.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
He's still got sixty six to ty Tiger, and if
he plays for twenty more years, he's going to have
to win three or four a year. And he's twenty eight,
So I don't see the reason why I can't play
at least forty eight and maybe twenty years from now.
We're discussing those very those very things. But Scotty Scheffler
is doing things that are very Tiger like.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
He still has to be a.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
He has to stay number one in the world for
the next I think it's nine years. I think he
has to go through twenty thirty five in order to
catch Tiger. But this is the best golf we've seen
since in a while, since with what Tiger has been doing.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
So these are PGA wins, the Phoenix Open, the Arnold
Palmer Invitation, the WGC Dell Technologies match Play, the Masters,
the WM, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the Players Championship,
the Arnold Palmer Invitation, the Players Championship, the Masters eight,

(02:37):
RBC Heritage Memorial Tournament, the Travelers Championship, and then the
Tour Championship.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
There you go. That's the PGA ones.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
And then the Majors. So he's good there, all right.
I think he's what I was impressed with yesterday is
he had a case of the lefts people that fade
the ball, aim a little bit.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Left and try to cut the ball down left to right.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
His shot was going left and staying left, and he
was able to figure it out on the back nine.
I was not not not saddened by the fact that
John Ram made a run and then decided.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
To, you know, realize. He's like, oh, that's right, find
the gas pedal. On the last few holes, He's like.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I have to I have to play under under under
competition and pressure.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I don't do that and live. I don't know what
to do. I'm gonna completely collapse. Yeah, well, there is that.
There is a competition issue.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
I did see a story this week about Gen Ram
and they ask him, has Tiger and Rory accepted the
fact that you've switched tours, and he said, Tiger, no,
and that bridge is burnt. It's never gonna be, never
be reconstructed. Tiger doesn't Tiger is not happy that I
went Rory doesn't care anymore. He basically doesn't give a bleep,

(03:50):
is what he said. And Roy washed his hands of
all of it. And so some nice guy, yes the face.
So but here's the deal. There is no competition. It
is not a competitive tour. There's six guys that matter.
There's a good chance that four of them are going
to play badly every week, and the other two are
going to compete for it. And it's basically Bryson and

(04:10):
Patrick Reid and John Rahm and Joaque Neeman and maybe
a couple others cam Smith if but cam Smith has
been irrelevant since he switched tours. But that's another story
for another day. I thought that I thought Bryson played
pretty well, but nobody was going to challenge Scotty except
for Scotty. Scotty was only that tournament was Scotty's to

(04:32):
win from the time he teed off unless he went backwards,
and he did go backwards for about three for a
couple of shots on the front nine and then stuck
it in high gear and took it the rest of
the way going into the to finish off the tournament.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah, I remember you had texted me. You were like
Scotty and then I go and look and our buddy
Peter Burns tweets out Scotty doing the last five holes
going five under, and he tweets out the Vince Carter
dunk competition, uh meme, whereas he just goes like it's over.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
It's like, yeah, yeah, it was.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Well, Nike has put out a pretty good deal. Now
they've got a shot of Scotty hitting a shot at
the top. It's got the swoosh and it says best.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Golfer in the world. Guilty yep. So a little a
little jab, not jab, but a little like Roy.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Roy's a Nike guy too, So they got to be
careful how they do this. But Rory Roy Roy is
a distant number two right now.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Well, but it was more play on words because of
last year because remember oh yeah, yes, but right.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Imagine imagine what would have happened had had uh, had
Scotty not gotten arrested last year, you probably won last
year's PGA. Now he's got two legs of the Grand
Slam done. Now that he's won a PGA and a Master's,
the US Open is gonna set up perfectly for because
he hits it for far, not as far as Rory does.
Nobody does not, bryce somebody hits it three fifteen in

(06:05):
the year.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
So he's good.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
And so he's got that in Royal Port rush for
the Open Championship to see if he can he may
be the next Screen Slam winner right in front of us.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
We got others that are in the mix.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
John Ram could do that with a with an Open
Championship this year and then down the road. But of
course he doesn't compete against anybody anymore.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
By the way, in the next five tournaments, just going
off of last year, Scotty has won two of the
last five.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Well for the next Scotty, he's got Byron Nelson. I
don't know if he's playing Memorial or in Canada or not.
And then he's got the US Opening Travelers and he's
won Byron Nelson, I think. But I'm not Byron Nelson,
but Colonial, and I believe he's I know he's he
hasn't won the US Open yet, but he has one.
I want to say he's won Canada and he's won
at the Travelers, and then he'll go to Scotland for

(06:52):
he won the travel he.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Won the Travelers last year, and then he won the
Memorial last year.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Okay, so my guess is he'll play the Memorial and
probably skip Canada this year, although Rory will have to
play Canada most likely because of his RBC commitment.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
By the way, how did your guys finish on the weekend?

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
You won? It was my.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Planneddestine picks of Adki, Matzi Yama and Shane Lowry let
me down badly and then Rory was Rory is still
in a Master's hangover right now. So that's where we're
at with that. All right, We're got I've got more
golf stuff to get to in a little bit, because
there was controversy this week that shouldn't have really been,

(07:31):
controversy about Rory McIlroy's driver that he used at the
Masters and the use at New Orleans becoming non conforming.
I'll tell you what that means here in just in
a little while.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
And also about addressing the media after you play a
golf tournament, whether you win or lose, and the same
can be said about one Soto and same about Angel Reese.
All those discussions coming up. It's the Andy average show
on the tickets.
