Speaker 1 (00:04):
I appreciate all y'all Right in the long Shane, We're
making a dendum to the run sheet here since I
am back in the big chair again tomorrow. There's just
too much Cowboys to get to today. We'll save the
rest of NFL Week twelve for tomorrow. Will dive into
it after we see the results of this Monday night game.

(00:26):
But let's jump back into Cowboys where we left off
with the good side, the winners, call them the winners
category from yesterday. I teas the defense of Eberflus throughout
the early parts of this season. It doesn't take a
genius to understand when you go all of the off

(00:47):
season expecting to have a game wrecker on the defensive line,
You go all of training camp expecting to have a
game wrecker on the defensive line. You build your entire
defensive scheme, identity philosophy around having a defensive front that
can cause chaos, that can get to the quarterback, that

(01:08):
can hold their own in the run game. Right, it
doesn't take a genius to think to realize that when
you do all of that and then trade your one
game wrecker you have on the defensive line a week
before the season starts, things are not going to look good,
and they've That's an understatement of how this Cowboys defense

(01:30):
had looked until to three weeks ago post trade deadline,
and it really, it kind of really is that simple
in a lot of ways. Eberflus, I think his stubbornness
led him to not acknowledge that it wasn't going to
work with the personnel they had in the first half

(01:51):
of this season, but with the additions they made on
the defensive side of the ball. You know, Quinn Williams yesterday, Yeah,
that was his career high on pressures. He had eight
pressures yesterday on thirty pass rushes. That's the most thing's
ever had in his career.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
And two games he's having career numbers because I think
he also had he led his career pressure rate yeah
last week, yep, And so lends he already he already had.
He already eclipsed the season total for total sacks as
well last.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Week in one game.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Quentin Williams is like one of those stories of it's
you're seeing that meme of like a Ferrari underneath like
a trailer and all that. Of course, Yeah, it's the
same concept of him with the Jets. Is that, like
he was such a quality player and a crappy team. Sorry,
call it what it is that when he goes to
an organization which you know is still a step up
in and even though it gets scrutinized one of anybody
else in sports, really that it helps a bad defense

(02:45):
look that much better because if player of that impact
can had that kind of effect.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, over the last two games, he's third in total
pressures YEP across the entire league. He's fourth in pressure
rate across the entire league. Miles Garret's gotta be at
the top, and he's top amongst he's best amongst defensive tackles. Which, Yeah,
when we were thinking about this defense all through training camp,
we were thinking that the pressure was gonna come from

(03:10):
the edges. Well now it's coming from right up the
middle with Quintin Williams. And more surprisingly, if you're the Eagles,
every single one of Quentin Williams pressures yesterday came on
a one on one matchup. Yeah, he was lined up
a lot. They double teamed him. He was double team
the second lowest rate of the entire season yesterday against

(03:32):
the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I saw him line up head on head on a
lot of times with Landon Dickerson, who he's gotta be
hurt because he was gonna he was gonna a lot
of pressure, whether it was him, Kenny Clark or whoevers
line up on him. He was giving up like a
lot of pressure yesterday. He's not right that Egos offensive
line is beat up.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
No, it's week twelve of the NFL season. Nobody is right,
especially not offensive linemen.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Though there's offense allowed, they have to go tush bush
eight games, eight times a week exactly. I think that
you can tell they don't like it. They like the results,
but they don't like doing it.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
No, it's got to be miserable. I mean, there's no question.
But I think all of that to say, I think
Eberflus now, with the personnel additions, the guys coming back
from injury, the trade acquisitions, the stubbornness is not nearly
as evident now because even go to that final the

(04:21):
final defensive play for the Cowboys where Osa gets the
sack on third and two, the Cowboys were lined up
in man across the board on that play.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, and that's something we've been We've been begging him
do forever because he's a on his zone team. But
if they're gonna go back and forth to man in
zone based on looks, I'm okay with that if you're
not gonna be one side of the ball of the
entire time.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Especially if they're gonna start throwing more five man fronts
out there like we saw yesterday.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
And I think right now they also have the personnel
and the secondary that I think you could run that with, which,
by the way, not to set with for a second.
I wanted to add a loser forwards to break and
that was gonna be Donovan Wilson, who I put the
blame on for that AJ Brown touchdown without the sixteen
yard line. I don't put that on Bland because Wilson
bit on the outside route, which which meant there was
no coverage on the inside with Bland let the route inside,

(05:05):
so they give an easy touchdown.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah, Donovan Wilson is the best of what they have
right now.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
That's fine, it really is.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Having Hooker back helps significantly. It makes Donovan Wilson look
like less of an issue. Having the back end of
that secondary as solidified as it can be with the
personnel they have healthy now, I think the obvious other winners.
You know, Pickens, there's a lot in this one. Yeah,

(05:32):
I mean we might end up even rolling this into
the six o'clock hour because the numbers that George Pickens
has put up now monstrous. It's it's becoming, it's becoming
not just monster, but historic to this franchise. He is
There's only one other Cowboy receiver ever that has had

(05:53):
as many one hundred and thirty plus yard receiving games
in a season. I'm gonna say Dez not Dez, not
Toos May not Mike Irvin, not a Maury the flash,
the flash in the pan that was Miles Austin. I
forgot about Miles. Miles Austin had four games in the
two thousand and nine season where he had one hundred

(06:14):
and thirty or more receiving yards. Pickens has now matched that.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
He's also he's second in the NFL in yards. He's
averaging almost sixteen yards of reception. That's insane.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
It's the sixth time in Cowboys franchise history that a
receiver has reached one thousand receiving yards in the first
eleven games of a season. CD a couple of years
ago too, and seven. Yeah, and then who you always
tell me, Yeah, but you can't compare Michael Irvin to
these guys. It was a different game back then. Michael

(06:45):
Irvin did it in nineteen ninety five and ninety two,
and then bullet Bob Hayes back in nineteen sixty six.
So yeah, Michael Evin doesn't surprise me. Pickens is absolutely
solidifying his future with this organization. We're gonna talk about
that tomorrow exactly what the cost is going to be,
because they've got to do it. And then we're also

(07:05):
going to focus on Dak because of course Dak passed
Tony Romo yesterday in most total passing yards in Cowboys history,
also did it in what twenty twenty less games than
a Romo as well, and as we all know, continued
to dominate divisional opponents, not just at home where he's

(07:28):
twenty two and two now, but total thirty six and
nine in his career against the nfcast. So lots of
winners from yesterday. One guy who wasn't a winner, Terry Bradshaw,
had some trouble with the name of that NFL leading
wide receiver
