Just hit that big red microphone icon at Ticket seven
sixty dot com on the iheartapp enjoy this podcast of
the Andy every show we go, it's our number one
of the program. On this Thursday, Masters Thursday, Justin Rose
is tearing up Augusta right now. He's eight under part
through sixteen holes and he's got a four shot lead

(00:42):
and the usual suspects are giving chase.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
But it's going to be up to Justin Rose to.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Kind of come back to the field a little bit
because of there the way that Justin Rose is playing.
We'll get into all of that and a whole lot
more on the show today and then Adekie matcia'ma just
missed a two footer for par all Right the Audio
Dissimilator today and the producer of this show is Michael Bartlett.
He just hit this great sand shot out there to
a putt that I can make, and then he misses it.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah, Oh well, you know what, it could be worse.
He could be John.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Rahm, because you better not go to live. John Rahm
is I don't. I hate to sit here and relish
in a guy's misery. But you know, clearly you've converted me.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
From PGA tour to live. Not just that, but I
don't care more.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, I'm just not a fan of what they're doing.
But that's for them to say. Yeah, but anyway, we'll
get into all the master stuff coming up here in
a little bit. We'll also get in have our usual
visit with Dot Garrett today. Lots to get on with him. Hey,
how about a Spurs buzzer beater?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Last night?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I was watching part of that game and I saw
the score and I think it was early fourth quarter
and Golden State was up thirteen or something like that,
and I was like, oh, they're keeping it close.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
I'll check back in.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Then I started getting notifications the game was closed, and
then all of a sudden, the Spurs win. And it's
a great win for the Spurs in the fact that
you got a bunch of guys that are playing together
that are certainly not going to are not planning on
giving up the season. They're going to play it out.
This is These are exhibition games basically for next year
because they can't make the playoffs. But this was a
devastating loss for Golden State. And if you're going to

(02:24):
have an opportunity to challenge the West, which I really
think is now a two horse race, I think it's
Oklahoma City and the Lakers in the final in the
conference final, as long as the Lakers stay in the
two to three area or I guess the three area
if they don't drop to four, because then they have
to play in the semifinals.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
But this is if you're the Warriors and you.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Think Jimmy Butler is going to help you win, you
cannot lose to the Spurs in this situation. But credit
the Spurs for a big win last night.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
It looked early on, and granted it was the start
of the game, but I think the Warriors got up
like I want to say, twelve to two or thirteen
to two, something like that. It looked like it was
gonna be a It's gonna be a runaway, and they're
gonna have to, you know, battle their way the whole
game just to try to get back to it being even.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
But they played.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
They played very They played I'm not gonna say very well,
but they played pretty good.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
They played pretty good.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
We'll talk more about that coming up a little bit.
We've also got the Luca tribute last night, which was
emotional for him. It brought him to some tears. But
then he went out and dropped forty five on his
old teammates. I have I heard today. Maybe it was
Rick Buker, one of the NBA pundits and somebody I

(03:41):
think it was on Maybe it was Jason McIntyre, maybe
it was Dan I don't remember, but they they were.
They brought him in with what do you think of
the fire? Nico Chance, I'm gonna say the same thing
I've said before, and he agreed with me. This is
not Nico Harrison's decision. This is Nico Harrison telling the
the ownership group. I'm sure at some point the ownership

(04:04):
group after they took over, said give us the long
term forecast of where our salaries are going to be
for players and what we're going to be paying players
and they saw three hundred and forty five million dollars
in five years for Luca, and they're like, do what
do you think of Luca? And he said a fact,
especially with the fact that he only played I think
twenty two of the first fifty or sixty games the

(04:26):
Mavericks played their show. There was twenty to to forty
seven before the trade happened, and how often he gets injured,
but how good of a player he is in the playoffs.
This was an ownership decision. There is never in the
history of any basketball operation a trade of this magnitude
made without the blessing of the ownership. And if the

(04:47):
ownership didn't like the trade, they would have fired Nico already.
If this was an eleventh hour deal that Nico did
without consulting them, he wouldn't have seen the light of
day the next day.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
He'd have been gone. He did not make the trade.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
This was ownership saying we're not going to give a
player three hundred and fifty million dollars. And everybody out
there right now is booing Nico Harrison because he was
basically told, make the trade or you're fired. There's no way,
there's no other way that that situation happened.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Well, you make very good points, but that being said,
that's the franchise, that's your franchise player. That's the player
that your whole fan base loves. And he has said
he said repeatedly. Granted, he was saying everything that he
he should be saying. He wanted to be a math
for life. He loved everybody there, he didn't want to

(05:38):
leave it. He had no say whatsoever. He wasn't complaining
about anything. And yes he was up for a Supermax.
Who's to say if he would have said, you know what,
I know him up for three fifty.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
He would not you would have winded me for three instead. No,
he would have said, I want my three to fifty
and we have no idea. Well, the Players Association would
have not allowed him, the Mavericks to skate on that.
Not baseball. It's close enough. The star players are going
to get their money. And there's and even if he
had said that, it's still three hundred million, it's a
forty five million dollar discount. Whatever they did that this

(06:12):
was ownership saying we want to start over. It's ownership
saying we don't want to spend any money until the
legislature allows us to build a casino here so that
we can we can get paid. We can not only
charge people to show up in the game, but then
we can make sure that they got a slot machine
to play afterwards and give us more money. This is
the greed of the Dallas Mavericks ownership. And there's a

(06:34):
there's a picture of Mark Cuban in the stands with
his head, his head in his hands, shaking his head
during the fire and Neco chance. And if I could
read Mark Cuban's mind, my guess is he's saying, this
isn't Neco's fault, and why did I sell this team?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Now?

Speaker 1 (06:49):
The reason he sold this team, and he's come out
on record as that, is that he does not think
that the that the that the salary cap situation and
the attitude of a lot of the players is sustainable
for a future growth of the league in the next
seven or eight years. It will be because they've got
TV's money, but that's going to change when they don't
have TV's money in the future.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
So, I uh, I don't think that.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
I don't think Mark Cuban regrets selling the team, but
I'm sure he knows that this was not a decision
that was made by by by Nico Harrison.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
This was made by the Addison family.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
We'll talk more about that coming up in a little bit.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
We just had something real quick, Indy. As you and
I are watching this replay, remind me again, so this
happens Rory, Rory's ball hits somebody else's ball.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yep, So what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (07:37):
The other person's ball has to be replaced as close
as possible to where where it stopped and wherever Rory's
ball ended up, whether it's where it's at now in
the creek, in the hole, or on, you know, one
hundred yards down the road, that's where he's got to
play the.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Next shot from. Okay, so uh the on.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Once your ball finds its position, it's that's your that's
your territory till you hit it again. But Roy's for eagle,
and he could get to five under and get in
a second place and pass past your guy, Scotti Seffler.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, you know, but Rory will remember twenty eleven. To me,
I say, he may.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
He probably remembers Pinehurst last year more than he remembers
twenty eleven. All Right, there's a lot of discussion about
Shudear Sanders and where he may fall in the NFL Draft,
which is two weeks from to night, and if he
does not get picked by the ninth pick, I don't
think he gets picked until the twenty first because the
team's between the New Orleans Saints at nine and the

(08:34):
Pittsburgh Steelers at twenty one. There's no way they're drafting
a quarterback. So we'll talk about that coming up in
a little bit as well. We also have Jay Billis.
Jay Billis has a comment on the webs somewhere. I
saw it last night. Send it to Michael four week
so we can play it today. Who is echoing the
same thing that I've been echoing now for two or

(08:54):
three weeks. Sign players to contracts and make players have buyouts.
We'll readdress that a little bit more and a little bit.
I know that there's a lot of Aggie fans out
there that have a problem with Mike because he does
not like to give them any credit whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Win something. Then we can talk that will.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
There's a lot of teams haven't won something and they
still brag. I mean, that's fine, they're not little brother. Yeah,
that's just the little rivalry that you have. You don't
like Texas A and M and you don't like ou?
Who would you be? Who are you for when they
play each other?

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Whoever it benefits the Longhorns the most? Okay? Or are
zero zero? Tie? Well, we don't have ties.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
You know again, if a if there was somehow a
tie was able to happen and it benefited the Longhorns,
Oh that justlipped out, then yes I would.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
I would be for a tie. But whoever it, whoever
benefits I do.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
I give the Aggi's credit for a lot of things,
and their fans are amongst the most passionate people that
are out there, whether you've liked them or not. But
they did have a situation with their defense that we're
going to talk about, because the defensive line has given
itself a new nickname and it's not one that's very
flattering to anybody. And Mike Elgo says it's over with.

(10:09):
As soon as he gets done with the press conference,
which has already happened, he's going to address it and
that will be audio no more. So we'll talk about
that coming up. We had a situation last night in
the NBA that the Heat were playing the Bulls and
the Heat are down five with a minute about forty

(10:31):
seconds to play, Tyler Hero gets a steal and he
pulls up and shoots a three in transition when he
had a clear, unobstructed path to the basket for a
dunk that would have cut the lead to three. Instead,
he goes up for a transition three. It rattles out.
Chicago gets the rebound and they get their own transition
three and go up by eight. Game over, And there's

(10:51):
people out there that are saying, why didn't he drive
to the basket and get the easy two? All right,
I'm going to talk about this a little bit later.
But here's the deal. Do you believe in analytics or
do you not? And if you believe in analytics, that
was the proper shot. And if you don't believe in analytics,
that was the wrong shot. And if you're gonna do
analytics and you're gonna stick with analytics, then that's the

(11:16):
right thing. You cannot criticize Tyler Hero for that if
you're in the school of analytics. If you're old school basketball,
that's three laps around the gym tomorrow in practice. But
in this day and age, it's the same thing. In baseball.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
The guy strikeouts, strikeouts, strikes out twelve times, and then
it's home run.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
You take it. But you either believe in analytics or
you don't. And if you believe in analytics, that was
the proper shot for Tyler Hero last night. All Right,
we're going to get to all of this coming up
and much more. Dot Garrett joins us in the next
segment for our weekly chat with him from Arosti, and
we do all that. Coming up, It's the Andy Everatge
Show for twelve on the ticket
