Speaker 1 (00:05):
John Rahm and others are playing the Spanish Open this week.
John hit a shot on the fourteenth hole into the
left rough, and as the marshals usually do, they take
one of those little flags and market so the player
knows where the ball is. As rom is approaching his ball,
he says, what day? What a day? And the marshal
says it's okay, John, and John snaps back at him,

(00:27):
It's not okay, all right, John, Remember that marshal, he's
a volunteer. If he's not there, and a few hundred
others like him or not there, there is no tournament.
Be nice to the marshals. He was just trying to
cheer you up. I know, John Rahm's tank runs pretty high.
His temperature runs high a lot, and I think every golfer,

(00:48):
especially at that level, has an expectation of what every
shot should look like, and sometimes it works out and
sometimes it doesn't. I know, speaking of myself, I probably
take golf way too seriously. But it's the one sport
that I've got the ability to compete against, whether it's
against people I'm playing with in a money game, or
whether it's you know, myself against the golf course and

(01:09):
I can tell you I've had times where I have
hit a shot that I didn't think was very good
and somebody says, good shot, and I'm like, you know,
what's so blinking good about it? But that just is
the competitive nature of whatever it is that you're competitive with.
I think all of us have something that drives us
to be a little bit competitive. But you've got to

(01:30):
have to have a realistic expectation of what you want
to have happened before you can be competitive. And certainly
John Rahm is a really competitive guy and one of
the best golfers that's ever walked to the face of
the planet. But you still can't take it out on
the marshall either ignore them or go think you know,
thanks or whatever. But you know, I'm sure a pro
has hit a bunker shot before and knocked it up

(01:51):
to a twelve feet and they wanted to be three
and somebody said, good shot. Well, it was good that
you got another bunker, But it wasn't the shot I
was looking for. And apparently where John Rahm hit it
was not where he was trying to hit it. All Right,
