Speaker 1 (00:02):
At thirty six, The Indie Average Show olds on thank
you for spending your Thursday afternoon with us. All Right,
we know that there's a teacher out there that's influenced
us back when we were in school, one that believed
in us, challenged us, and made learning fun. And you
can help the one that maybe had an influence in
your life if they're still teaching. Nominate a teacher who

(00:23):
you think deserves the iHeartRadio's Teacher recognition. You can go
online to iHeartRadio dot com slash teachers and list the
name there. There's also some nominees already out there that
have been given recognition, like Juanita VELAs who is at
Miguel Carrillo Junior Elementary School. Students are achieving individual goals

(00:46):
that will allow them to realize the capable of learning
in all content areas. They learn new academic skills, they
learn social and empathetic skills, and they like to build
parent relationships so that everybody works together for the same goal.
Students and all the time, a shout out to Juanita
Velaws from Miguel Carilla Miguel Correo Junior Elementary and don't

(01:08):
forget to nominate a teacher. They could win five thousand
dollars to fix up their classroom and to get the
supplies they need to help out their students. All Right,
somebody's lying. It's either Jerry Jones's camp or it's Micah
Parsons camp. Why aren't we getting a deal done? We
all know we need to get one. We all know
that we need Micah to be happy. We know that

(01:30):
Mike is likely not going to play that first game
of the season if he's still not getting that extension.
He is under contract for twenty four million dollars, but
he could get hurt and he would never get the
contract extension, and Jerry would kind of get his way
a little bit and spend the money on somebody else.
My guess is is that Jerry's going to do the

(01:50):
exact same thing with Micah that he did with Dak Prescott.
He's going to wait till the first game of the
season on Sunday afternoon before the Cowboys play, And to me,
that is the absolute worst way to do this. I
don't think the NFL wants their games upstage, but Jerry
doesn't care. So Jerry says there's nothing that is standing

(02:12):
between me and Mike are getting a deal done, and
Micah says, well, I don't know why we haven't talked yet.
You can't get anything done unless you have a conversation.
So either Micah is holding back and doesn't want to
do it, and or Jerry's holding back, and both one
or both are telling us something a little short of
the truth when it comes to who's making the decision

(02:33):
to determine whether or not we're going to have a
conversation to get this work deal worked out.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Or it could just be you know, the big thing
going on right now is Jerry's as stupid as it sounds,
Jerry's more focused on the Netflix docuseries. Or yeah, he's
already seen it. I know he's already seen it, but
he's all about plumping it and promoting it right now.
You know, he might be like, well, because again he

(03:00):
keeps he keeps reiterating Micah is still under contract. If
Michael wants to hold out, that's fine. He's gonna get
fined out the wazoo and he's still going.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
To eat and Jerry will paint for the fines in
the next contract. If he gets fined three million dollars,
the price went from forty or at least the guarantee
went from whatever it was to whatever the finds are.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
The biggest thing that again that keeps getting reiterated as well,
is even though yes, Michael Parsons contract would be up
after this season, the Cowboys can still franchise tag him,
and they can franchise tag him again. And they can
franchise tag him again. It's gonna cost him a hell
of a lot of money, but he's still so.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
He gets So here's the deal, boy, So if they
franchise him, he gets the difference between the first and
second highest paid ed rusher in the league.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Correct. I think it's top five, it's the it's the
medium of the tough file.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Okay, So jj Wat's getting one hundred and twenty million
and no, no, no, it's per year. But he's getting forty million, yes,
and Garts getting about a little bit more than that.
I'm leaving out a couple other people that we are.
The guy at the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Cross Crossby completely forgot about Max Cross.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
He's in that neighborhood. Uh and the Bengals, I don't
know what they're gonna do with Uh Hendrickson. And and
then the guy in Detroit, Hutchinson.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
He's still on the rookie contract, right, so he's not.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
He's not ready yet. So you got basically three or
four guys making forty million. So that's what see, that's
what Mike is going to get. But he's not going
to get that long term, guaranteed deal with guaranteed money.
He'll get forty million for the for at a time,
for a year. Uh, and he can probably you know,
feed his family on that without any issues, I'm sure,

(04:54):
but just at some point you just go, why don't
you If you don't want me here for the long term,
then let's find somebody that does.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah. Right now, going into this year, it's Miles Garrett's
at forty million, Daniel Hunter of the Texans is at
thirty five point six, Max Crosby is at thirty five
point five, Nick Bosa is at thirty four, and then
Josh Allen of the Jacksonville Jaguars is twenty eight point
two five. So it would be somewhere along the lines

(05:22):
of thirty one ish maybe thirty two ish million dollars
again if it was this year being franchised right this
year now.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Next week, they have to wait till next year to franchise. Yes,
I just wish. Listen, now, we all wish this, but
Jerry's I think there's a lot of criticism towards Jerry
because he could have saved himself in a lot of
money by just doing it early. But Jerry doesn't care
about spending a little bit more money if he gets
a little bit more run out of it. And that's
what he did last year with Dak And my guess

(05:53):
is he's doing the exact same thing with Micah. You're
going to tune into whatever TV show you watch on
Sunday morning for that first that's Sunday or you know, yeah,
the I think it's the Yeah, the first Sunday and
in September Thursday night. Well, yeah, but he's not gonna
do it on Thursday. He'll do it Sunday before the
Cowboys play. Well, oh they play Thursday, they do that, Yeah,
that's right. They have the Eagles the Thursday night game.

(06:14):
Thursday night game, so Thursday, so Thursday during this show
on that's the fourth, September fourth, first second, yeah, said
September four. The first is Monday, So September fourth is
when Michael will get his deal.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Let's see, yes, seven to twenty our time, so about
they played.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
About six twenty before, about an hour before the game,
Michael will sign the new deal with the new extension,
and he'll go out there and be ready to go.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, yep, I wouldn't doubt it. I wouldn't doubt it.
But again, it's not that I'm backing Jerry Jones. I'm
also harping on the fact of the thing that I
keep saying. It takes two to tango that just because
all of the natal media said, well, Jerry should have
taken care of this two years ago or last year, Yes,

(07:05):
he should have, but that doesn't mean that Michael Parsons
and his agent even wanted to talk or even thought
about going to head to sign to sign earlier.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
To Micah, they did well, he could be lying to
exactly Micah.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
If you've noticed, I didn't realize this. I think Colin
said it earlier today. Michael Parsons hasn't spoken to the
media almost a month since he requested the trade, and
that first day or two he hasn't talked to the media.
What'so over?

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Maybe he should, maybe he should start talking about this
and get something going. But then again, you better tell
the truth because they're going to find out in this
world if if you're not.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I just again, I always keep bringing up the fact,
why do you want to piss off Jerry Jones? Jerry
loves all of his players. Jerry is going to back you,
He's going to back up the Brinks trucks for you.
Why do you want to piss him off? If you're
gonna say?

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Who says that? Jerryry and Micah when they were actually
having that conversation and they had the quote unquote handshake
deal that Jerry is like, come on, Mike can play
this game with me. Let's get some notoriety for the
next couple of weeks. I can see that happen. I
know you've got the tinfoil hat on with that.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
I know you do.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Well, that's just Jerry's m O. I mean, every time
he gets a chance to steal the limelight from his
thirty one other partners in the league, he's going to
take that opportunity.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
I agree, but I don't know if I'd go as
far as him telling or trying to corroborate with Michael
Parsons saying, I want you to use your social media
and Tom.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
I want you to tear me up.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Just talk dirty about me as long as as long
as you're talking about me.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
And never did that. Troy never did that, Michael never
did that. Never did that.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
But this is an era that we live in, Jerry.
They weren't in the Twitter world back then. Now we're
in the Twitter and the Instagram world. If you're not
tweeting on instagramming about it, it didn't happen.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
I mean even CD didn't talk about the potential of
being traded. Of all people you would think too or
Dion CD. And yet it's Michael Parsons.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
All right, we'll see. All right, let's get into some
golf talk in the six o'clock hour. Another NFL thought,
and I'm not really thrilled what the NFL is doing
with Rashid Rice. We'll discuss that next. It's the Indie
Everage show on the ticket
