Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, six point thirty four, the every show on
the ticket. I know that there's a lot of people
in the world that have mega disposable dollars. I wish
I was in that boat. My disposable dollars usually got
to golf trips to Scotland, and it's getting ridiculously expensive

(00:21):
to do that trip.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
So we just live in Scotland at that point. At
the old course, Well.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
They don't have a football team or a basketball team
to call games for. I'm not doing soccer talk, please,
I would be asleep in two minutes.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Well, you know, with the with the great technology that
there is, you know you could do it remotely.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I'm not doing anything remotely.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
I'm glad you take pride in that that don't.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
That is a disgrace to the fans to do games remotely.
It's not happening on my watch if I have anything
to say about it. Anyway, that's a story for another
day and a whole can of worms by itself.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
You can just take air Andy back and forth. You know,
that's a long drive. That's a long flight, and it's
a tiring flight too. I've done it six five times now.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Yeah, but you'd be on air Andy at that point.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Well, I'd have to have a lot of disposable money
to do that.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
I thought that was what you were saying.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, yeah, it's still expensive.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I don't know that I want to spend money flying
back and forth from Scotland every other day.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Yeah, well you don't have to do it every other day.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Well, Scotland's kind of cold and inhabitable from about November
to April anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Okay, so you cannut rent out the house during the
cold times, Well, who's going to be there to rent it?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
I'd give it to college students at St. Andrews University
or something. Anyway, we're way off the topic I have here.
I was talking about people who are so rich they
can throw away money and it doesn't matter. Taylor Swift,
she would be in that boat, although I don't think
she bought Kobe Bryant's first a jersey when he went
to twenty four.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
That was he wore the jersey.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Scored twenty three points in a one eighteen one to
twelve victory over Seattle November third, two thousand and six.
He would score fifty points or more in a game
on ten occasions in that season. In rountd to his
second straight and final league scoring title, and so his
jersey sold for eight hundred and eighty nine thousand dollars. Sure, okay,

(02:21):
is Jerry no A Jerry West jersey from nineteen sixty
four to nineteen sixty seven also sold for five hundred
and thirty three thousand, four hundred dollars.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
I mean it is a one of one.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
There is zero sports memorabilia that I own that if
you want to give me a half a million dollars
for it's yours, I'll go. I'll go buy something else
I have. I most of my sports memorabilia has no value.
It's just kind of sentimental.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I have.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Pictures of golf courses that I play or that I
want to play because there's a picture of Augusta and.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I haven't been invited to play there yet or maybe never.
We'll see.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
I mean, let's be honest, Andy, even if you wind
up with a.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Lot a lot of money, I still got to get
invited to get it. I can't buy my way in there,
that's for sure. There are some places that will take
your money, but that's not one of them. If you
have to ask how much it costs to join Augusta.
You don't belong there in the first place. Yeah, But
and I have the when UTSA won the championship, the

(03:30):
Southern Conference championship in basketball in twenty eleven. I got
a little bit of surprise at the start of the
twenty twelve season when or then eleven twelve season, when
they were passing out the rings that the then coach
Brooks Thompson got me before when we were taping the
pregame show goes, oh, I got something for you here,
and he pulled out the championship ring from that season,

(03:51):
Like wow, I didn't expect that, but that was pretty
cool to get. But pretty much other than that, I
don't have anything of value. But I can't imagine spending
even if I had like five billion dollars in the bank,
there's no I don't think there's any sportsmenmobilia that I
want to spend that much money.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
On unless it's like legit Tiger Woods is no Tiger
Woods putter.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I don't want it. I would not pay you ten
bucks for it.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
No, I would say, like maybe, what about like the
golf ball.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Or nope, I got plenty of golf balls.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
What about the eighteenth whole flag, Nope, from a gus Nope.
What about what about a piece of Jack's bridge at
the Old Court? Nope?

Speaker 4 (04:41):
No, not even the grass.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
No I can. I could have brought some grass back
with me if I cared. I didn't.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
I mean, I.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Collected baseball cards when I was a kid, and I
was told someday these will have value. And I had
like four thousand cards, and I found somebody to give
me three hundred bucks for it, and he he was
reluctant to do that much. Wow, and so much for
the value of that. And I carried him around from
house to house for forty years and finally got rid
of him a couple of years ago. But for all
you know, you had the legendary I did not have

(05:13):
any card in there that was worth more than about
thirty dollars.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Hey, thirty dollars for a card, Andy.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, I liked ten cards that totaled about three hundred.
The rest were worth pennies. Nobody wanted them.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And none of thembody, and none of them were in
mint condition because I played, you know, I you know,
played baseball with the cards when I was a kid.
They were all wrinkled up and stuff. But before they
as soon as they got out of the box, I didn't.
I never put them in the spokes of the of
the bicycle wheel like some people did.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
I never understood that.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I only I never forgot that, never got that.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
But but I I we we would like you know,
I don't even remember the games we played with them,
but we would mix and match teams and and come
up with exotic lineups and play All Star Game with
all the different piit that we have.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
And you know, anyway, I don't have those anymore.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
But I just think it's amazing that people want to
display a jersey and are willing to pay almost a
million dollars for Kobe Bryant's jersey.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
The only thing that I could see you spending quote
unquote that much money on with any any form of
like memorabilia, and I put memorabilia in air quotes, would
be like an experience. No, I don't want anything of Tiger,
but hey, let me play eighteen.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Only play eighteen in Augusta or the old course, but Tiger, Yeah,
I would. I don't know how much I would actually
spend for it. Yeah, in pricelessly Yeah, come on now,
but yeah, priceless, but then I don't have them. I
don't have discretionary money to do that. I mean, I've
already mapped out the next golf trip to Ireland and
it's ridiculously expensive, and I'm figuring out How'm gonna pay

(06:50):
for that unless Tiger wants to go with me, fund
the jet and play with us.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Hey, you never know, you know, maybe Tiger Tiger will
will swing to check on his uh his businesses here
and maybe you'll run it. Wow house, I'm not gonna say.
I know you don't get starstruck, but how like you know, uh,
what is it? The the double take?

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Like?

Speaker 2 (07:12):
How how bad are you gonna whiplash your neck if
you just happen to see Tiger.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
There's there's no question that if I was playing golf
with Tiger, I would not want to mess it up.
And there would be a little bit of nerves because
you're playing with Tiger.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
But I I think everybody when you're playing in an
uncomfortable situation that you've never been in before, you don't
do that. You I don't want to say choke, but
you put yourself in a position to do that because
you're not you grip the club, but harder you swing shorter.
There's things, there's things that that you forget about your

(07:49):
routine because the goats watching, And if the goats watching,
you're probably gonna try to do something that you've always
done before, but there's going to be in the back
of your mind the criticism that's coming from the goat.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Especially especially if he's egging you on. It's like, Wow,
you're only going to hit an eight iron?

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, yeah, yeah, I'm.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Not really a pitching wedge. Wow, Okay, I know golf.
I know golf club term.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yes, yeah, but I hit the I hit clubs further
than most who are my age.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I would just again, but he's you know, he's I'm
not him.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
He's Eldrick.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah, and even at fifty years old with a bad
back in seventeen hundred surgeries, he's he's in better condition,
in better shape than I.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
I'm going to try to get there. I don't know
if I can get there or not, but that's the goal.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
If Sir Eldrick can beat and win with a broken leg. Again,
we always rub it in the fact that Joel Embiid
can suck it up broken leg and still wins the
dang tournament.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
That's all I'm yeah, I go. I love this story.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
When he was on the he had six weeks before
eight eight weeks with right after the Masters.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
It was the week after the Masters. I was.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
I was doing it broadcasting a Bernie game, either a
late basket I think it was a baseball game. And
I got a notification. This is right when I had
my first iPhone, because that was two thousand and eight,
the first time I had an iPhone. And I got
a notification that said Tiger Woods has Arthur scopic knee
surgery US Open and doubt.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
I was like, okay.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
And the story goes that about four weeks before the Open,
he went to the doctor, the doctor did the MRI.
The doctor comes back in the room and says, Tiger,
you have a torn ACL. We did the scope on
the meniscus, but now the MRI revels torn ACL.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
You need to shut it down for the season.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
We can reconstruct you and you can play with a
brace in eight months. And he looked at the doctor,
said a few cuss words, dropped a few f bombs,
and said, I'll see after the US Open. I'm winning
it and walked out of the office. And he played
golf in a cart for four weeks somebody on his own,
and he never walked around of golf until the Thursday

(10:13):
of the of the US Open and then one at
Tory Pines over Rocco Mediate, and yeah, he played with
a cracked tibia, hairline fracture and a torn a cl Yeah,
Tiger and the Needle's that's why he's the needle. That's
part of that's part of the lore. All Right, one
more segment to go. We wrap up the day next.
It's six forty four on the ticket.
