Thursday: Will the Rams choke against the 49ers tonight?

All right, six seventeen. The stat I was looking for
was in the Detroit Chicago Detroit Cleveland game. Detroit or
Cleveland pitchers only had eighty six pitches through seven innings
and they had only one thirteen for the game in
their win. So that was what I was looking for. Okay,
all right, let's talk forty nine ers in Rams. The

forty nine ers I think have been fools gold all
year long. They've taken advantage of a weaker schedule to
start the year. They should not have beaten Arizona. Arizona
gave them that game. They're three to one coming into
this week. No Brock Party, no Jawan Jennings, no Kittles,
offensive line speed up, Christian McCaffrey doesn't have the same
juice he used to have, and I think you're going

to start to see this team come back to reality
and closer and eventually below five hundred. I still think
this is a seven to eight win team at the
at best. I think Seattle is probably the best team
in the division. I think the Rams are the best
team in the division in Seattle. Second, I think the
Rams win this game relatively easily. But that's just the
problem that I have with the NFL. Sometimes this should

not be a hard game for the Rams, but somehow
tell it tells me that it will be. And maybe
the forty nine ers are one of those teams that
doesn't win a lot of games, but they're really hard
out because they're going to play hard and for Kyle Shanahan,
they're going to play hard for him. But I just
don't see where they have the firepower without their key players.

Mac Jones is playing quarterback. They may have some quarterbacks
that are that are hurt a little bit. It just
comes down to your losing the war of attrition. I
had the Ravens as a team that was going to
win the Super Bowl this year, even with the weak defense.
But when they lose all their players, they're not going
to win until those players come back, and they're not
going to win if they don't come back at all.

I don't care how good Lamar Jackson is or how
good King Henry is. It's all gonna come down to
what you're going to do with the rest of your team,
and the rest of your team when you have seven
out of twenty two guys that you expect to play
most stamps and they can't play at all. That's kind
of a disaster. And the forty nine ers are in
that boat today trying to hang on to the season

and are to get to stay where they're at, get
to get another win, get to four and one. I
just don't think they can. To me, the Rams, the
Rams defense is underrated, and Sean McVay may be the
best play caller other than Andy Reid in the league.

I don't know if the Rams are necessarily underrated, you know,
because they are very, very good.

The defense I think is because of Verse and the
rest of that defense.

Nah, I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't say that they're underrated.
I like, don't you like Verse? No? No, Yeah, But
I don't think he's underrated. I mean, he's one of
the up and coming, you know. I know obviously Colin
Cowder's real big on him. He may not be outside
of well known NFL fans, but people know Jared Verse

like he is a very good, up and coming potential
superstar in this league. But it is a rivalry game
to a certain extent, you know, with the California Now
and you know Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, I know,
they're friends, but hey, you'd always want to beat your friends.

I would hope that Sean McVay and the and the
and the Rams don't take them for granted. I could
see that because it's like, hey, nobody thinks we're gonna
win this game, because, like you mentioned, we're gonna be
without Rock Party, We're gonna be without Juwan Jennings, We're
gonna be without Ricky Parasol and George Kittle, and you know,

we're gonna have to give the ball to Christian McCaffrey
five hundred times. I could see that mentality of we're
gonna go, you know, win one for the Gipper. But
that being said, yeah, Matthew Stafford's not going to take
that team lightly whatsoever, and neither will Sean McVay.

So that's the Thursday night game, and there's a couple
of really key games on Sunday to keep an eye
out for. I'll start with the Jets and the Cowboys.
This should not be a This game should not be
as difficult as it probably will be for Dallas. I
think Dallas is the better team. Bryan Schottenheimer is done

more than anybody ever expected him to do, taking over
the Reins as head coach, still being a part of
the play calling in the offensive coordinator position, basically in
a voice that dak is familiar with having been even
though McCarthy called the plays in the last few years,
Shottenheimen was part of that offense. The Cowboys should win

this game, like thirty one to fourteen, but something tells
me that Jets will make it close. Justin Fields is
having a pretty good is he Is he hurt for
this game? I know he came back.

Yeah, he came back for last Thursday night. Yeah.

So Justin Fields is impressing me more in New York
than he ever did in Chicago. And maybe it was
just the fact that the Chicago organization was so bad.
But now Boys need this game. When I talk about
there's wins, must wins, things like that, if you're going
to be where you want to be at the end
of the season compared to teams that will be where

they want to be at the end of the season,
you have to win games like this against the Jets.
I don't think the Jets have aspirations of making the playoffs.
I don't think they're a playoff team at all, not
even borderline playoff team. The Cowboys are probably the tenth
or eleventh best team in the NFC, but they could
be the sixth or seventh best if they get a
couple of things to go their way. But if they're
going to get things to go their way, this is

a game they have to win. I've been asked three
or four times what I think of the Temple UTSA
game this weekend. And yes, I know, Temple's better, and
they've got the winning his coach, second winning as coach
of all time currently coaching football. But if the UTSA
wants to win the American Conference, you're gonna have to
beat Temple. You're gonna have to beat Rice, You're gonna
have to beat East Carolina. You have to beat Army,

and you have to beat Charlotte. And then can you
win at least two of the three against the power
teams which are right now North Texas, Tulane, and in
South Florida. And if you do that, you're seven and
one and you got a chance for the conference championship.
Maybe you eight no if you beat all three of them,
but I know that if you lose to a Temple,
or if you lose to a Rice, even though they're

better than they have been, they still are not conference contenders.
And the same thing I think with the Cowboys here.
You may not be a playoff team, but if you're
going to be one the Jets is a game I
think you have to.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Win well, even if like say, for instance, you're not
a playoff team one of the other potential playoff teams
that you know, again we don't wish ill will. Maybe
a quarterback gets hurt, maybe a key defensive player gets hurt,
and games that they're supposed to win now they wind
up losing, and then that helps the Cowboys potentially, you know,

pick up a game or or help them move up
in the standings. So I agree with you on games
overall that that you want to be taken seriously, you
have to beat the bad teams, you know, regardless of
whatever your record is. If you're aspirations of hey, you
want to be in the playoffs, you got to beat

the teams that you know, on paper you should be
beating because of record.

Wise, Eagles are four and oh they've got the Broncos
this week. What's that?

They're fools? Gold, there's so much truth.

They're the Kansas City Chiefs right now, they are winning
games with They're winning games closely, but that's what they're
They're basically stacking wins. And at some point they're going
to unleash Barkley. At some point he's going to have
one of these games like he had last year. I
I but I hope the Commanders catch them and win
the division. I'm starting to be succeptical or whether they

will or not. What I'm seeing from the Eagles isn't
necessarily as much fools gold as it is. We're just
going to figure out a way to win the game.
It's going to be ugly, it's not going to be pretty,
but at the end of the day, we're going to
be standing there with a w and you're not. And
I don't see that. How I know that you and
Shane picked the Broncos this weekend, I don't. I think

you need some some mile high medicine. Here is this
is an Eagles win, and I think it'll be close,
and I think it'll be ugly and they'll block a
field goal. But how many times did Kansas City looked
like they were on the brink of losing and they
didn't lose? How many times are the Eagles going to
be on the brink of losing, and they don't lose.

They figure out a way to win the game when
they're not supposed to win it. And that's me is
what's gonna see what this team coming up this weekend.
I the Eagles five and oh are four and oh
trying to get to five and oh? I think they will.
That's why I picked them. What do you see about
the Broncos? What do you you just think that the
Eagles are due for a loss.

I think they're due for a loss because again, they
if what a couple of plays, let's just say three,
three plays, and maybe that record winds up being one
in three or zero to four. Again, as a Cowboys fan,
we go back to the the first game of the season.

the Rams at the end of the game, that's a loss.
The fighting Baker Mayfield's the Tampa Bakers. They're just they're

But and Jalen Hurts, whether you like him or not,
figures out a way to get things done. It may
not be a pass completion. It may be getting the
ball to Barkley. It may be the defense stepping up.
They've gotten decision. Is it's aj Brown that is thinking
he wants to be traded every second of the day.
Throw the ball more, you know, feed him a little

If Jalen hurts, I forget what Colin that he brings
up all the time when involving Jalen Hurts, it's like
if he throws for more than twenty five attempts or
something like, the record is something god awful. But if
he throws under, it's like they're almost well underfeed.

But what that shows you is that when he has
to pass, he's not as efficient when he gets to
pick and choose when he passes, then those passes become
more efficient. And but anytime you have Saquon Barkley in
the backfield, you're going to feed that horse as much
as you possibly can. I mean's not really heavy he's

not having a great year yet because people are king
on him. They don't want him to have two hundred
yards rushing against them, which he's perfectly capable of doing.
They're loading the box and they're trying to make hurt
speat you and Jalen's not going to beat you very often,
but neither is the Eagles. The Eagles defense is going
to beat them. The Eagles defense is going to put
themselves in a position to win the game and get
