Are these teams done or is there still hope?

Cleveland's trying to make a last stand.

Tonight, they lead Indiana forty two to twenty five, or
eight minutes or so to go in the second. I
still think Indiana now wins that series. I don't think
Cleveland's gonna win all these games. The big story today
from the NBA was Jason Tatum's injury was revealed. It
isn't achilles as they feared. He had surgery today and

he'll be out for the rest of the playoffs and
probably until That's usually a nine to ten month thing,
so he may not even play most of next year
as well for Boston, and that may impact on what
they do draft wise and free agent wise and whatever
else they need to do.

I think the.

Knicks and Indiana now are the top teams to face
in the East, and that will be a series. It's
what was it that was the Reggie Miller, Spike Lee
and John Start.

Series back in the nineties.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, that kind of reminds us of all of that,
so we'll we'll look forward to that. I think Oklahoma
City wins Game five tonight. I don't know if they
can win a game six and close out Denver, and
this series made up going seven, but I still like
Oklahoma City to win the West. The Warriors tried valiantly
last night, but no, Steph Curry is not gonna work

for them, and it's not likely he's gonna be able
to play in Game five either.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, he actually confirmed that he will not Steph Curry
will not play in Game five as well.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
So yeah, so we're probably.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Gonna be looking at t Wolves and you know, obviously
Thunder or the Nuggets in the Western Conference finals. And
just to think, Andy that everybody's sitting here, Oh well,
the Lakers are out, and you know Boston's gonna be out.
Nobody's gonna pay attention to basketball. This is some of
the best basketball that's been played in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
In quite a long time.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
And I heard Antonio Daniels on today with Doug Gottlieb,
and he said, the biggest surprise that he's seen is
the difference between the regular season and the postseason.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Maybe we need a happy medium.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
And I haven't talked to Antonio Daniels in forever, so
I don't know what he's thinking here, but I don't
want to see regular season basketball period, let alone in
the playoffs. I think these games have been great, and
I don't care if the players aren't adjusting to the
physicality of the game. These players are too good to
just let them stand out there and shoot uncontested shots.

(02:23):
They're not going to miss very many of them when
they're not guarded. These guys spend days and days on
end in the gym, and they are great shooters of
the basketball, and you have got to be able to
go out there and play physical with them and hand
check them and armbar them. I don't have a problem
with that. We see it in college basketball. Go back
and look at those games from the Final four, and
all of those games were officiated well, they were hard fought.

(02:47):
There was contact here and there. There were fouls called
when the foul was going to influence the outcome of
the game. But you had to do things and play
the right way. And I want to see more of this.
I don't care if the game is ninety eight ninety six.
If it's a game if both teams are shooting twelve percent,
then it's a bad game.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
But the fact that Minnesota.

Only scored thirty one and a half the other night
and somebody only scored eight and a quarter the other.

Night, I don't care.

It's good basketball, I think when you get to this
stage of the season, because it shows the intensity and
more importantly, how much these players finally care.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Yeah, yeah, I one hundred percent agree, and real quick
before we wrap up the show. It has only happened,
I believe, seven times for the draft, but the number
one pick has been traded a few days or on
draft night. And the last time it happened andy for

the NBA Draft was twenty seventeen, when the Boston Celtics
had the number one overall pick, and three days before
Draft night they traded that number one pick to the
Philadelphia seventy six Ers. They traded their number one pick.
They got in return the Sixers third pick and a

twenty nineteen first round draft pick. The Philadelphia seventy six
Ers took Markel, Foltz, bust and and Lo and Behold.
The Boston Celtics wound up with Jason Tatum.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
So this has happened before.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Well, I don't think Nico Harrison has the guts whatsoever
to even entertain a trade, and if he did, the
Mulligan would be rescinded. Last night, Nico Harrison got some
a little bit of a reprisal. I still will always
contend I'll fall on the sword saying this was management
and ownership that said go do this, and he did

(04:38):
not have a choice in this matter. He made the
decision to do it on his own. But now he
gets to draft Cooper Flag and Mavericks fans they're gonna
be happy that he did, but they're gonna be really
unhappy if he tries to trade that pick, regardless of
who they get in return.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, So we'll see what happens. But Spurs are sitting
pretty man. They have three picks, the number two to
number fourteen and I believe the number.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Thirty eight pick in the second round.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
So they have so many options and that's what they're
going to do for the next thirty days is try
to figure out which of those options are best and
how they put this team together. I think this Burst
could really have not only a playoff team next year,
but a team that goes a long way in the playoffs.
