Speaker 1 (00:04):
Prepare for the game. Saturday afternoon, Senior Day in the
Alamo Dome, not just Senior Day, also Salute to Armed
Forces Day as they take on Army at two point thirty.
The super spiritual power of the Alamo Dome will be
in full effect as UTSA tries to close the season

(00:26):
with a win and then then wait and see what
destination awaits them for a potential bowl game. As we
wait to see if we have a connection with Coach
and the guys out there from the Coaches Show, we
will jump back into our NFL Week twelve looxie we
left off. It took overtime, but the Chiefs potentially saved

(00:52):
their season against the Colts last week. It took five
field goals. Also, it wasn't the explosive Chiefs offense that
we've come to know that we are used to, but
a formidable opponent on the other side and the Colts
coming back down to life a little bit maybe, But

(01:12):
really that game to me was more about the Chiefs
saving their season.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
No, I mean without a doubt, especially because halfway through
that game the Colts were dominating it and everyone was
talking about whether you were on Twitter or even the
guys in the halftime show, what's going on with this
Chiefs team?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah it was, it wasn't in a two touchdown lead,
But what was it eleven twelve something like that? It was, Yeah,
it was eleven point comeback. I believe.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
I think the most they were down was seventeen to three. Ooh,
I believe was the biggest was the biggest deficit they
had because remember that Colts had the field goal after
the Chiefs had that touchdown, which made it a ten
point deficit in the third. Then obviously the Chiefs tied
it up cent at the overtime, and here we are,
but again, like is this do we consider this this
game more of a red flag for the Colts who

(01:59):
had a hot star or is this more of a
positive note for the Chiefs who had a rough start.
And again we've talked a bet before. You can't count
the Chiefs, can't count Patrick Mahomes. They're a team that,
unfortunately they've made these kind of comebacks before. You have
to beat them worse than the Colts had in order
to take a team down like this. It's just harderly
gauge either one of these teams, the Colts or the

(02:20):
Chiefs were they're at this point because the Chiefs offense
doesn't look near as Daunton as it has.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
In years past. No, And I think you know, if
you're a Colts fan and you told and someone told
you in week twelve you would suffer your third loss
of the season and it would take overtime for the
Chiefs to beat you in Arrowhead, I think you would
absolutely say, oh man, this season is the best season

(02:46):
we've had in years. I will take that every day.
Of course, from a Cowboys perspective, you were really hoping
the Colts would hold onto that game and potentially put
the Chiefs in even more turmoil as they get ready
to travel to Dallas on a short week for the
game Thursday afternoon Thanksgiving game.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Patrick Mahomes also really struggled a lot this year. I noticed,
and I'm gonna let you guess. His completion percentage is
down this year than it has in years past.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
At sixty four point four percent. Do you know what
that ranks in the NFL?

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Oh, sixty five, somewhere around seventeenth, eighteenth lower, really keep guessing,
twenty two, little lower, twenty five, twenty three, good sixty, Yeah,
he's below Jake Brown and even who still technically qualifies
because he's played five games.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
It was a halfway point through this season.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
He right now has the lowest the completion percentage of
his career through eleven games. Supposedly, I think his lowest
for an entire season is like sixty two. At the
trajectory he's going on, he's probably gonna eclipse that unfortunately.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, and it's crazy, I mean looking, you know, looking
back at that game on a day where Patrick Mahomes
throws the ball forty six times, they also handed it
off to Kareem Hunt for thirty carries. I mean, Kareem
Hunt getting thirty carries in the year twenty twenty five
is pretty eye opening. Unexpectedly, so, he eclipses the one

(04:15):
hundred yard mark and gets a touchdown. But with the
way the Cowboys run defense has been vastly a vastly
improved since the trade deadline and the guys, some of
the guys getting back healthy, you know that obviously we
know what Patrick Mahomes is, we know what he does,
we know what he can do when you think about

(04:37):
that matchup against the Cowboys on Thursday, But if Kareem
Hunt is able to move the chains and they're able
to rely on him for thirty carries. That will be
a that will be a bad sign for the way
that game's going for Dallas.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Especially the way the Dallas offense and defensive line has
played up to this point. Because their offensive line, which
I think has gotten most of its push, and I
think you'd agree the interior, their guards and their center
Cooper bebe yep. And while I think that you can't
take the you can't disregard the Chiefs defensive line. Chris
Jones look old. He looks old, he looks beaten up.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
It kind of looked old last year too.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
You know who their best defensive lineman is is George
carl Loftis. Yeah, he's your most complete pass rusher and
run stuff or on that defensive line. And two years
ago you want to said that because Chris Jones was
a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. But George carl
Loftis not only has elevated himself to be that the
best player in their front seven, but Chris Jones, I
think he's on his last leg.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, I mean it certainly looks that way, at least
as the unquestionable anchor of that defensive line, which is
those days I think are probably firmly behind him. Now.
The you know, from a Chiefs perspective, you look at
those Patrick Mahomes numbers and you remember, you know, what
were his weapons early in the season.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Taekwon Thornton, Travis Kelsey, who was inconsistent, xebr Worthy came
back a little bit later, right where she Rice came
back after six games.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Six games, and you look at that that was you know,
she Rice against the Colts eight catches, one hundred and
forty something yards. That that's what opens things up for.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
The sure And I mean Taekwan Thornton, to his credit
early in the season was actually a pretty viable deep threat,
even though all the passes landed. I think you can
count like two passes that he actually burned the safeties
against the Eagles and that in that or in the
early season game, but the pass was off was off
center or Pat Mahomes threw it to the safety or
something like that.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
So yeah, and now he's only getting one target in
the game last week against the Colt oh.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
And Hollywood Brown forgot he was He's a he was
a factor, especially.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Earlier on that offense. Hollywood Brown. They got a bunch
of speed guys.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
You know, I've noticed is like they were happy to
get rid of Tyreek Kill, but they keep trying to
recreate him.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Yeah. It almost feels like they kind of think that's
the that's the receiver that pairs best with Mahomes improvisational style.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
A speed thread down down the seem Yeah, that's why
they drafted guys like sky Moore. That's why they went
and draft and traded for a guy like Caadarius Tony,
which is turned to a huge.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Bust with our hoping exvier Worthy.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
And Taekwon Thornton right now technically is still the forty
yard dash leader at the NFL Combine, which you know,
I think the forty yar dash is the most overrated
thing you can do at the combine unless you're just
a deep threat like that.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
I will say with with the receivers, I think that's fine.
We way, but I see I was gonna say with
the receivers, I think we overvalue it because then you
become Al Davis and you fall in love with speed
instead of what makes a good receiver.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Right, That's why you drafted guys like Darius Hayward Bay.
That's why you drafted guys like the guy from Bama
who on.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
That car accidental. Oh yeah, Henry Ruggs, Henry Ruggs.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, that's what happens when you do that, because not
every route is going to be a forty yard streak, right.
Most of the routes are gonna have some chraange direction,
which is I always tell people pay more attention to
the T test to change the direction skills as opposed
to the straight line speed, because right now, you're right.
The Chiefs have been going for that same type of
receiver for you years, and most of Patrick Mahomes's best
consistent weapons have been whether it's for she Rice, whether

(08:06):
it's even Joannah Gray outside of Travis Kelsey at the
time podition, but the guys that get open quick, those
have been his best most consistent weapons, The guys that
can separate within two seconds at the snap of the ball.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, you talk about forty times up the combine. About
the only time I really really look at forty times
is when it's some dude that's you know, two sixty
five to two eighty, or Richison running or rich Eisen
running a uh, well, rich Eisen's not running the four six,
four five forty Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
For like a five six, I would once, I would love.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
I wish we could see just visually what it would
look like for an old, middle aged man to run
a four or five like I just had some on
brady be game. There's no way Brady breaks five seconds
right now. There's no chance. I don't think he ever
did in his life.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Are you talking about middle aged athlete or middle aged.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
No, I'm talking about the kind of like the guy
that does taxes like an account account, what you do,
walks a coup. At one point we did a combine
and I thought, I literally thought both of my hamstrings
were gonna snap ten yards into the forty yard dasher.
I think those days are well well behind me. Uh

(09:16):
don't look now. But the Baltimore Ravens, after all they
went through early in the season, they are now your
AFC North Division leaders. They are now back as the
four seed in the AFC side of the bracket. They
take care of business, beat the lowly Jets twenty three
to ten, and I'm not sure. I'm not sure they

(09:41):
don't end up winning that division by multiple games. Looking
at how the Steelers have fallen off, there was. There
was a small window of about two three weeks where
the Bengals looked like Joe Flacco might be the savior
until Burrow gets back. But Burrow's Burrow might be back
this week, but now too little, too late for them.

(10:04):
It's going to come down between Ravens and Steelers determining,
and that the way the playoffs are shaping up, that's
going to be a one bid division. I think whoever
wins the division obviously guarantee a playoff spot, but I
can't see the Steelers or the Ravens for that matter,
hanging on to a wild card spot.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
And to be honest, the next six weeks for the Ravens,
because they had an easy stretch just now. They played
the Dolphins, the Vikings, the Browns, and the Jets four
straight games, and you can also throw in the Bears,
who like that. I would con say that an upset
based on where they were a couple of weeks ago.
But the next six games for the Ravens, I'm not
saying it's gonna be challenging, but it's definitely going to
determine what team this is. Because you got the back

(10:44):
and forth of the Bengals you got the back and
forth of the Steelers, which you actually in the season
with in Pittsburgh, and you got a game against the Patriots,
maybe the most surprising team in the league this year,
and the Packers.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
So do we.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Ignore the early season struggles of the Ravens, especially on
defense was terrible for the first five or six games,
or do we think this team that's won five in
a row that is the true Baltimore Ravens as they
are because they're getting guys out. They got Lamar Jackson back,
they got Kyle Hamilton back, They're getting players back. In
that regard like which Ravens team is this? Are they
really It's hard to really pin down with who they are.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yeah, I think as long as Lamar is fully back healthy,
they're the most dangerous team in that division. I mean,
the Steelers are exactly what they are every single year,
hard knows, great defense or good defense, and they're going
to end up a game above five, they're going to
end up nine to eight. So to me, it's, you know,

(11:39):
the Ravens are the much more if you're thinking from
an AFC perspective of what team from that division do
you want to get matched up with? In a first
round playoff game. I think the majority of AFC decision
makers teams would say the Ravens are the scarier team
as long as Lamar Jackson is. I don't disagree with that.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
But the thing about Lamar Jackson is, unfortunately is that
and historically, and I hate to be this guy, but postseason,
the regular season Lamar Jackson are kind of n.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
And day quite different, quite different.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Especially because in some years, to his defense, he's ended
the year beating up and hurt a little bit. At
least in this case, you know, maybe got the injury
bug out of the way early. I don't know, but
he always seems to find some kind of like injury
in his season. But I do think that the way
this offense moves, especially with guys like Mark Andrews and
Isaiah likely maybe the best tight end duo we don't

(12:32):
talk about in the NFL Isaiah Flower not sorry, Jay
Flowers as as their number one receiver, the offense looks
a lot better. The offensive line is still leaves something
to be desired, and Derrick Henry doesn't seem as dominant
as he once did.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Him and Saquon both.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I feel like are having a bit of a dowardy
year in their regard, but you still take them seriously
just because of the dimensions that the offense can attack.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Yeah, and I think for you know, Derrick Henry over
the course of this season might be wearing down, but
I still want to try to stop him in a
short yardage in a playoff game if it came down
to that. You mentioned Saquan as well. I think the
the seasons both of them had last year were so

(13:16):
dominant at their respective ages. I think whatever they could
have done this year would have paled in comparison to
last year so much that we probably, you know, the
the narrative and the conversation around Derrick Henry. You know,
early in the season it was the fumbling issues. You know,
now the the questions, even the question with Saquan is

(13:37):
you know, has father time finally caught up to him?
It happens to every running back. But I still think
as you look at the you know, potential playoff matchups,
the Ravens as hot as they are, and if Lamar,
like you said, if he got the injuries out of
the way early, that's not a team I want to
see in a in a first round playoff matchup. The

(13:58):
only reason we're mentioned this next game is because, for
the first time since the mid nineties, the Browns had
a rookie quarterback win his debut. Now, did he did
he do a whole whole lot to win the game
individually on his own shoulders? No, But that Brown's defense,

(14:19):
the Browns defense is a is a contender level defense.
The Shardoor Sanders first start of the year, Now it
sounds like he's going even though Dylan Gabriel's back healthy,
He's going to be the starter moving forward. I think
a lot of Browns fans, a lot of non a
lot of Dion fans, a lot of Chador fans have

(14:39):
been waiting to see what this will look like. Well,
you're now going to get what six more games in
the regular season here to see if Chador really is
if they have their future franchise quarterback on that roster. Well,
I think we saw enough of Dylan Gabriel to say
probably not him, at least not yet. I'm not sure

(15:01):
any quarterback is really set up for success in that
Cleveland organization, but maybe Schador is the guy. Before we
head to our last segment, let's give away some more
UTSA tickets. I really wish I'd gotten to ask Coach
Traylor if he was excited about the new Avatar movie

(15:24):
as much as he was. The Alamo Domes connections to
