Speaker 1 (00:11):
It is the and he ever chose a matter of fact, Uh,
and he's not here day eleven. Yes, Scott's Scottsland, Scotland.
I almost said Scottsdale. I was a I don't know.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
It was the last day apparently as well.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, well probably, I mean, I'm I might have you.
Let's see the text that we got the the or
what we heard his post his post on Facebook for
those of you who are not into that, it was
thirty to forty mile an hour, Gus, he played the
old He played the old course today. Yeah, played the

(00:49):
old course.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Thirty to forty.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Mile an hour wins win gus light light breeze with
gusts too.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Didn't he say sixty?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
No, it was it was the thirty forty mile an
hour winds with a temperature of I think, he said,
in the mid mid to low fifties, but with the
wind chill of like forty five.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
And I'm like, dude, I'm like, grow a pair Andy. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Well again, I say this half heartedly because Andy is
like my mother to where and I love my mother
to death, but I always joke with my mother. I'm like,
because she's very cold natured, I'm like, mom, you could
you could be cold in hell?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Like she would be that cold, Like it could.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
And she jokes, She's like, yeah, you're probably right. I
mean it could be ninety degrees outside. And she goes,
she decides to go outside in the backyard. My mother
will be wearing a sweater or a jacket because she's
just always cold.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Wow, And I'm just like, what do we do? But
that's andy.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Well, if it's below eighty five, it's like I'm cold
and see.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
And now that goes back to the story that I
was telling you about the u c l A announcers,
the ESPN announcers for the UCLA game, the heat wave,
heat wave, heat wave in southern California. Yeah, it was
eighty two. I mean that sounds like my mom. My
mom is ninety eight years old, two weeks ago, ninety
eight years oldated birthday, Evan. Yeah, she goes, she bowls

(02:20):
twice a week, better than you.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
No, But she's funner than me. She's a whole lot
of fun.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
And and she she's got stories and tales. You know,
I got it for her birthday, a new bowling ball.
She got that for herself. No, I actually found a
tape of her father my grandfather. My grandfather has been
gone for thirty five years. Videotape or no audio, audio tape.

(02:57):
I put it in my cassette player and it didn't
like it. I mean I heard it. I rewound it
and it snapped. Oh so I performed magical surgery.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Of course you did, because that's right. I used to
do it back in the day.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
And I did.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
I recorded a full This was an interview that my
grandfather did with my friend. It was a sixty minute
interview and he was talking about the radical days of
the twenties and thirties, which is that was my grandfather,

(03:39):
my grandfather, my grandfather, my grandfather. First radio station. I
worked at Okay the news at the top, well, news
at the top of the bottom of the hour, thirty
minutes ahead of time and on the hour and peak
driving times. It's all made possible by anyway. So we

(03:59):
do these five minute newscasts right well, they do this
story about a protest on the war on the Vietnam
War in nineteen seventy one, twenty people were arrested. Nineteen
people were between the ages of eighteen and twenty four,
and the twentieth person seventy four year old Earl loger

(04:24):
Borough and I walk in and this is me at
the age of seventeen and a half, eighteen years old. Okay,
I walk into this staunchly conservative newsroom and I say, oh,
by the way, his name is Luffborough. And they go,

(04:45):
you know, you're just some smart alecy kid. How do
you know that? I said, Well, it's my grandfather. So
they said, so, why did he get arrested, Well, he
got arrested he couldn't run as fast as the other ones.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
That's why that was. That was how my grandfather was.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
So my grand my mom got that gene from my grandfather.
I think I probably did too a little bit, you know,
just that that rebel yell. I'm not doing what you're
saying I'm going to do. I'm just gonna do whatever
I want to do. I don't have it as bad
as my sister has it, because she's got it bad anyway.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
So I put this tape together.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
And I sent it off to my mom for her
birthday because that's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
You know, she hasn't heard her dad's voice. I think
about that. I don't want to think about that.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Well, I mean, it's it's you know when WOAI had
their eightieth anniversary. I had a tape from the fiftieth
anniver no, the twenty fifth anniversary of them, of WOAI
being on the air and the host was doing a
trivia contest of it, we'll get we'll play ten separate

(06:06):
things and see who see who it is? And I
had this tape and it was they played something from
the thirties and something from you know, the forties, and
none of us in the radio station, none of us
knew who any of those people were. And that was

(06:28):
like the biggest crime, you know. So when I put
all these little promoets or all these vignettes together marking
the eightieth anniversary of WOAI, I said, you know, because
the one thing that the guy said, I'm you know,
and we are Mike Side at WOAI, I said, well,

(06:50):
I'm Pat Evans and Mike Side.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
You know.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
I made sure I got my name in there so
that people would know, you know, because.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Me anyway, we just passed one hundred to other things, uh,
two years ago.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yeah, except it all began September nineteen twenty three. Yes,
that's how that's how the promo started. The one that
I did, like, you know, doing thirty years ago.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Man, man, we're so off the rails.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
But you know what, this is what happens when the
NBA decides to schedule a week.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Before the NBA Finals.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Well, and you know, I mean sure that we're expecting
maybe the games to go seven games, and you know, okay,
there's filler time, and you know somehow we're going to
manage to make sure that everything. Yeah, sure we are, yeah, yeah,
and there's I mean, we are into that period of
time on the calendar where it is just the we

(07:48):
haven't hit the dog days of August, not yet. Training
camp hasn't opened yet, so I mean we could talk football, sure,
but why I mean really, the only thing that's going
on right now, there's and they're both baseball. Locally. You
have uts A in the super Regional up against u C.

(08:10):
L A the best two out of three and the
winner of that we'll go to Omaha. And then we
also have Smithson Valley the high school baseball is playing
for the state championship.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Oh awesome? Was that five? A? I lose four? Well,
they keep they keep changing it. I think it's five. Yeah,
I think it's fine.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
I remember when when I was in high school there
was a time where five A was the top. When
my boy was East Central. We were five A and
I think we're six aight hour.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, yeah, they changed. You went to East Central? I did.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
That's why I always tell Andy, don't expect a good
math out of me. C student, public school man, East Central,
go Hornets.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, my son went to Reagan and we played East Central.
I don't I think it was Uh, I think it
was a one side of affair probably back in back
in those days.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yeah, East Central is pretty much always for the most
part basketball, although I think I have seen that the
football program's gotten a little bit better a little bit.
But yeah, well the only two things really as far
as like NFL obviously you know with voluntary OTAs.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Right, voluntary, uh, which means you better be there if
yes and no.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
But you know, Michael Parsons obviously has not showed up
for voluntary OTAs, but has already told Brian Schottenheimer that
he'll be there for mandatory OTAs. You know, still trying
to negotiate the extension for that contract. Uh.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
The other story in the NFL, which seems.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Like it's just not going to go away, and it
probably is not going to go away for any any
time soon?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Is Aaron Rodgers? You know, you know, it's like I understand,
what's what's the Today is June third? Yeah, okay, so
I was here in March, YEP, and he had just
talked about well he'd flown across the country and and
only to get in there with with Aaron what is it,

(10:18):
what's his name? The new coach of the Aaron Aaron Glenn.
Aaron Glenn got in with Aaron Glenn. Aaron Glenn said, hey, look,
thanks for coming by. Yeah, I love you, take care
bye bye.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah, you know, I I get I guess, at least
from what's reported why he's waiting the past at least
past few weeks, why he's waiting for so long, because
why Apparently he has a.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Friend or friends that are dealing with health condition.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
I think that's what they said, but you know, jokingly
said this about Andy to Andy. I was like, didn't
know Aaron Rodgers had friends besides Pat McAfee.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
But the one we're so or if we say bad words,
by the way, yeah, don't sue us.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
The one story that I heard today driving in was
could he potentially be holding out even longer because there
was the uncertainty for your forty nine ers with you
know what or what they weren't gonna do with brock Party? Right,
was there a chance that maybe he could garbage? Yeah,

(11:25):
which I had possibly sneak into there not gonna happen,
which not gonna happen now. And now the latest one
that I'm hearing is because him and the head coach
Kevin O'Connell for the Minnesota Vikings or I guess good buddies,
is there a potential that maybe he holds out if
the Minnesota Vikings decide maybe JJ McCarthy isn't quite ready,

(11:50):
isn't isn't quite the guy that we think that he is.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Well, Because again.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
There was that, there was that trying to figure out, Hey,
what did they do with Sam dar Do we do?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
We keep Sam Darnold? We do?

Speaker 3 (12:03):
There was even talk about the possibility of, hey, teams,
we're calling about JJ McCarthy. What what would you possibly
take to maybe go get JJ McCarthy. But you know,
that looks like that that door has been closed. If
I'm Pittsburgh, I would just tell him say, dude, we
need to know in nine days, two weeks. If not,

(12:23):
we're moving on.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
And this is this is the thing that has bothered
me about that. If you.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Pittsburgh has had three coaches in seven hundred years, Yeah, okay,
Pittsburgh does not do controversy. Pittsburgh has they do this.
You know that the most amount of controversy that they've
ever had was trying to make a difference and trying
to make a distinction between Terry Bradshaw and Terry Hanratty

(12:52):
who exactly and Terry Hanratty was actually the starter, oh,
for for quite some time. And then they went, oh, no,
we're going to change and we're going to go to
Bradshaw bread and that kind of worked out. Okay, we'll
talk more about that in just a moment, because I'm
that part. I love talking about tickets. Sports Time six
