Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hey, Lebron James, can we not pay him enough anymore?
Dude's about to opt into his second year. You know
how much he's opted in for?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Fifty two point six two seven point one five three
million dollars.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Yeah, fifty two point six million player option, player option.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Now he's been told that. You know, he's got about
a month to figure that out. According to Shams, what's
there to figure out? Somebody's going to offer me fifty
something million dollars, I'll do it. But uh so, Lebron James,
this will be his seventh year with the Purple and Gold.
By the way, is that the longest he's been with
the team in his career? With eighteen? Yeah, like as

(00:50):
far as like consecutive years.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Uh one, two, three, four or five seven? He had
seven to start with Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Okay, James is in his second year of a two year,
one hundred and one million dollar contract. That's one hundred
and one million, three hundred and fifty five thousand, nine
hundred and ninety eight dollars. Don't forget the seventy two
cents as well, you know, and so just over fifty
two point six million this year. It'll be his twenty

(01:18):
second year in the NBA twenty second year, remember Michael
Jordan walked away and seventh in the proplein goal, James
impressively averaged twenty four point four points, seven point eight rebounds,
and eight point two assists per game, well shooting fifty
one point three from the field. And by the way,
he earned the Hall NBA Second Team honors this past season.

(01:42):
So he's going to come back as a Laker.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
The question that I ask you is, if you're a
Laker fan, are you happy with this?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I'm you know I would I would say yes, But
if you're a smart Laker fan, you would have selfishly
hoped said, yeah, I want Lebron to come back. But Lebron,
we did the Lakers did you a favor. How about
you do us a favor and take a cut, opt
out and take a drastic cut play for that, not that,

(02:13):
not that the players Association we want him to but
take a vet men.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Oh yeah, amn contract. At the end of the day,
I know the Lebron's all about himself at the end
of the day, and I get that he's not going
to do what you know Tom Brady's done before with
the with the Patriots. He's not going to do what
who else has done this in the NBA that's done it?
Hasn't Kevin Durand done it before. I mean there's players
all the time they're like, hey, I'm aged Jimmy Butler

(02:39):
for one. Yeah, I'm a joy, you know, because you
got to remember the Lakers have Luca you know, isn't
this supposed to be Luca Magic?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Now?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, you know, which is weird to say. I mean,
it's still weird that he became a Laker. And I
still think the Dallas Mavericks are going to screw up
the number one pick.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Well here's hoping.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah, our friend Trudy is a a Mavericks fan. She
doesn't like to say that too much, but I just
I kind of jab her every now and then. I'm like, yeah,
you guys are gonna trade this pick.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
I know you are. You're gonna trade it to the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Or or they'll take like, you know, Dylan Harper or
you know Ace Bailey.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Dylan's don't belong in Dallas, sir. Okay, And now we
have another Dylan in the NBA, which I'll probably have
to get used to saying his name.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I guess right.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
At least I got Dylan down there, you go. I'm
getting better at my pronunciation. Somebody asked me the other day, Mike,
maybe think of you too. It's very hard to pronounce
a lot of these names. Now have you seen what
they've been doing in college graduations?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Ai? Oh have you seen that?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I have?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
So basically what happens is that, okay, fun fact. I
don't know if I've ever shared this with people before,
but I did a graduation announcement, right, I used to I.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Was that guy. I remember that right.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
It was the worst experience of my life, absolute worst.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
It was for ut Health Science Center. God love them.
I got through it, right.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
But you had to go through about two hundred students
and you had them fill out a card right to
say their last names phonetically.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Still screwed it up, terrible And by the end of it,
they were all like laughing. At that point, they were
just like, let's see how Baddy Butcher's this name? And
you know what, sometimes I think that they did that
on purpose.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Could be you know, yeah. So now what I'm seeing
is that when.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
They walk the stage, they have their little ID card.
One of the professors scans it. As soon as they
scan it, it says their name. Now saving money, that's
what's happening.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yes, absolutely, God and heartache.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
And you thought I mean doing that, and you thought
that that doing a pregame for Spurs would have been
you know, it's.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
A walk in the park. You have no idea it is,
it is.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
It's hard now Anto Takupo and Mama Kayla's pheley just
roll off.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Your time, nothing like nothing.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
And when they don't say it on other networks, I'm like,
what's wrong, coupo, you know, and how many times you say.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
It over and over and over and over again.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
But yeah, AI's taking over graduations, which it should. I
feel like there's certain things that just need to take over.
And that's because that way you're not messing up the
person's name, you.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Know, because it could be embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
You know.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
It's like, dude, nobody ever gets my name right.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
I get that because obviously, you know, there's the the
different pronunciation, especially here in Texas for Martinez, uh, in California,
it's Martinez. I remember my oldest nephew when he got
when he graduated, the teacher his middle name is Julian.

(05:58):
But pronounced it Julian and we're just like, oh, face palm,
you know, so it happens.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I get it, I get it. What happens.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah, Hey, the worst one that I ever got was
my high school graduation. And I don't normally share my
middle name, right, oh yeah, And of course they want
the first, middle, and last. So it comes up to
my time. And the person that was doing the commencement,
you know, saying the names. He was our public speaking teacher.

(06:27):
He taught you how to talk. He comes up with Dylan,
comrade Emery.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
You know what. I can tuck that though, because obviously
my last name being Bartlett with two t's, I've had
it pronounced Barjett, No Jay, have.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
You ever had Bartel?

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I've had Bartel and I've had Barnett, and I'm like,
two of those those letters don't even exist in my
last name.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Yeah, I've had djon djon. I'm like, where are you
getting djon from? They're like, you're French. I'm like, dude,
so far not French. I'm six foot five, I'm German. Like,
come on, you know, get it together, get your name right.
But you know they shouldn't at the end of the day,
you know, I don't know why I'm so off banter today,

(07:14):
but I just damn Mike, you know what do you want.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
To talk about next? But anyone?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
You know what, It's the day after Memorial Day. We're
still we're still recuperating. So everybody at this point is
on vacation.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
When driving home right now, and I'm holding down the
fort I'm getting I'm getting text messages from people saying, yep,
it's name the names can that's a big fear for people.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Oh yeah, is public speaking? Did you know that? What
I've said it? I've said it many of times.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
One of the one of the biggest things that I'm
self conscious about is speaking in public.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Really, I can't speak in public.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
You want to realize how many people you're speaking to
right now exactly.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
That's the stupid thing is I can't. I could never
do it. In high school. I would turn absolutely tomato
d ever pass out. I did not I got I
would start to sweat. I would get very nervous. I actually,
did you know I was inquired for two years as well?
Were you no dude with this voice?

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Come on now you're a soprano?

Speaker 2 (08:17):
But no, that's the funny thing.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Is I can't plub public speak.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
But yet And funny back, fun fact about me. Until
my senior year in high school, I hated people. I
did not like speaking in front of people. I did
not want to talk. I was afraid of how I looked.
I looked like a giraffe, like and I got over that,
and people say, well, how do you do it now?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
I'm like, because there's really nobody in this room.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Just you and me on TV.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yeah, I mean you're like on this big flat screen
TV and then it's just me, you know. But then
people are like, oh, yeah, there's so many people listening
to you. I'm like, yeah, my mom she probably listens.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Hey, you know what, we have tons of people that listen.
And thanks to the free iHeartRadio app, you can do
presets on you can listen to us anywhere. I'm still
waiting for the International Space Station.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Really, I am if that happens, dude.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
We had one from Hong Kong. I'm worried about my
our Hong Kong listener because he just kind of disappeared.
Because you know, when you click on Hong Kong, it
doesn't tell you, it doesn't tell you where. It just
says yeah, They were like, oh wow, yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
So we listening.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
We were listening everywhere we are listening. Andy's not listening
right now because he's like, guys, get back on track.
He could be you know, coming up next, we're going
to talk about the Indy five hundred.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
No we're not.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
We're just going to recap more on the Andy Average
