Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, final segment, six fifty two on the ticket.
I've got a quick question for.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
You here, Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
I brought this up with Shane yesterday. Yes, Scotty won
the Open Championship last week. I wasn't here last week
for you to brag about the fact that you've won
three of the major events. But you know, in two
of the three, you picked Scotty. So that's kind of
with an asterisk, like me picking tiger Back.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I mean, hey, he still has to hit the ball
and get it in there.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yes, So I think there is a parallel in an
alternate universe, perhaps Scotty Scheffler and Tim Duncan neither neither one.
Neither one wanted Lorian fame. They just wanted to go
play golf or play basketball and go home and hang
with their family. And they were really good at it.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I can totally see that. I can totally see that.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
And the press conference that that Scotty did at the Open,
where it's like, what are we doing this for? I mean,
I don't even know. I don't even know why I
want to win this, except I know that I do.
And if the fame lasts for two minutes and then
it's onto the next tournament, and then I get to
go home and hang out with the kids. And that's more,
you know, glorifying and fulfilling than winning this tournament. But
I gotta go win another one.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I would love to at this point, now that you've
put it in my head that Tim Duncan and Scotty
Scheffler have to do a podcast together or just get
him in the same.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
They wouldn't say anything is the problem exactly to see
how awkward it would be. What are we talking about?
I don't know. I don't want to talk about it.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I don't know. That being said, Andy, you indeed.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
A mediator to drag things out about that.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
That being said, I'm just gonna throw another shot at Rory.
Suck at Rory. I've got I've got the Grand Slam
before you did.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Since you brought that up, I will ask you this question,
is twenty twenty five in golf going to be more
remembered for Scotty winning two majors or Rory winning the
Grand Slam?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Uh? I think it depends on how the rest of
the year goes for Scotty, because I remember last week
they were talking about it is who's the Golfer of
the Year, and.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
It's one of those two.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's one of those two. Yes, Rory completed the Grand Slam,
obviously at being at in a playoff at Augustina, but
Scotty is still so.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Scotty's better and even Rory said he's the bar we're
all trying to reach. I'm not there yet. I'd like
to be there now. The gap between Rory and Scotty
isn't the gap the same gap that was between Phil
and Tiger when they were one and two. I mean,
statistically speaking, if you go back and look, I think
it was two thousand and two when Tiger was number
one and Phil was number two. Phil was closer to
(02:37):
the number one thousandth player in the world than he
was to Tiger, and so and Scotty could get there.
But anyway, we've got a Ryder Cup still to come,
and they'll pick the Player of the Year sometime in September.
All right, back tomorrow, Dot Garrett among our guests. More
