Tuesday: PGA Updates

We've got some good local news when it comes to
the US Open next month at Oakmont.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
You made the tournament. I did not.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
I wish I was good enough to compete. I would
take last place. Last place. The PGA made twenty four grand.
That's it. I could be all right with that. First
I got to make the cut. But that was of
those who made the cut. Scott, he made three point
six million or whatever ridiculous amount of money.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
At Phil. You can beat Phil, and I don't think
I could beat anything.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
It was like a plus eight Andy, Well, yeah, I
would have been that on the first four holes. This
is a hard golf course. I don't play golf courses
that are that difficult. Yeah, well, they'll give you like
a ten stroke lead.

Anyway.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
San Antonio had two guys in the US Open qualifier
in a seven for one spot playoff seven So at
the participating you know, after they did the thirty six
holes yesterday, there were seven guys that were had the
last spot.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
We're tied for the last spot to go to Oakmont.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
One of them was Mack Meiser from San Antonio went
to Alamo Heights, and the other was Johnny Keefer who
went to Johnson one. Johnny won the playoff. Awesome, So
Johnny gets to go to Oakmont in.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
In about three about four weeks awesome, so he'll be
in the field.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
He got the he got a PGA invite this year
because he won a corn ferry event and then he
won the uh uh, then he won the got well,
we got into the top one hundred. He was ninety
third in the world now and and sex points no
world run World Golf ranks, and that's what your top
top hundred to get you in the PGA if you're
not otherwise qualified. So he got into the PGA Championship.

And then he also got uh well qualified. You have
to qualify for the US Open, and he qualified yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
I'm gonna go ahead and go out there and claim
the fact that the reason that they were so good
is because they listened to you and on Saturdays for
the Golf Show for the last how.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Long has it been going It'll be twenty nine years
in September, So that's that's the reason.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
That's the reason I'm going to claim that. Well.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I had his instructor, Bryan Gathryde on the radio on
Saturday morning. There you go, So I gave him some karma,
so they had good karma going into Monday.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
By the way, just to prove that Scottie Scheffler still
winning at the Game of life. I don't know if
this is one hundred percent true, but somebody had tweeted
it out. Caught his son, Bennett I believe that's his name,
doing the first standing up for the first time and
taking his first.
