Speaker 1 (00:04):
Blue Jays go in order in their half of the third.
Still won nothing Toronto, with New York coming to bat
in the third inning here. Earlier today, Detroit won Game four,
which forces a game five in Seattle guests either tomorrow, Thursday,
or Friday, So we'll see what happens in that series,
and then the divisional play or the league championship series

(00:28):
will start later this weekend. Yankees have to win tonight
to keep their season alive and force a game five
back in Toronto, and the Cubs were leading four to
three the last I saw in the seventh inning of
that game. All Right, there was a really cool moment
last night in the Seattle win at Comerica against Detroit.

(00:49):
As we know, cal Raley, known as the Big Dumper,
has hit a bunch of home runs this year, and
there was a guy out in less center field that
caught the ball, caught his home run last night, and
he had a kind of a shirt under his hoodie
or something, and he pulled it up and it was
dump sixty two here with all the Seattle colors and logos,

(01:11):
and apparently he had another shirt under that that said
sixty three or sixty four if he hit more. But
it's ironic that the one Seattle fan in the park,
especially in the left field bleachers, was the one that
caught the home run and had a shirt that said
dump sixty two here. That's quite a feat. That's quite
a kind of a weird thing that happened. Jamison Turner

(01:32):
is the guy's name. I didn't see any stories that
he got to meet Cal Rawley, but Cal heard about
it and said that it was pretty cool that his
sixty second home run came to a guy wearing a
Seattle shirt with that information on it. So interesting, interesting
situation with that. All right, what else is happening that
we got to get to here in the show today.

(01:55):
I had some notes written down about this a second ago,
and I have no idea what I did with him.
Oh here's a deal Stanford. Stanford's getting in the nil game.
Stanford got one of its donors, guy by the name
of Bradford Freeman, to give them fifty million dollars. This
is huge for a program, or any program that is
not a blue blood program, and Stanford certainly not that.

(02:17):
If you can find a donor and a booster, an alumni,
somebody that's willing to part with fifty million bucks, you
can do a lot of things. Now arenas and stadiums
are really expensive these days. It used to be you
could build I think when UT Arlington built its building,
and they've got a great basketball arena at ut Arlington.
It was opened I think in twenty ten. UTSA was

(02:40):
one of the first, if not the first teams to
play in it, and later on the WNBA when the
Wings moved from Detroit and became the Wings, that's where
they've been playing at UT Arlington. And that's about a
five thousand seed arena with really good sightlines, good seating,
great place to watch a game, to broadcast a game,
to play a game, and it seats about five thousand

(03:02):
if for basketball, they can expand it to about seven
for events, and it costs eighty two million. That building
would now cost one to fifty minimum and just what
the cost of things in the last ten to fifteen years.
So that's that's the first thing. So fifty million. The
mindset right now is let's not worry about all the buildings.
Let's make sure that our rosters are in good shape

(03:25):
by making sure that our players are taken care of.
And that's the most important thing. So this will be
a big donation for Stanford. Now, are they going to
still be able to compete in the ACC? It's doubtful.
Stanford has a issue with getting people into its programs.
You're not going to get into Stanford unless you have
the grades, regardless of whether you play football or not.

(03:46):
That's priority number one. Stanford's in the same boat with
Notre Dame. They're not going to take non qualifiers. They're
not going to put you in remedial classes. You better
be able to hit the ground running and do things well.
So but this will be a boost for sure, from
a boost. Spurs and Heater underway in their second preseason
game of the years as the Spurs try to tweak

(04:06):
everything with their roster and then Gianni Satantakoupo has been
talked about in trade rumors all summer. Apparently he told
the team if I'm traded, I'd like to play for
New York. But he said today, I am here to
try to make us a winning team. We'll see what
I can do and see how the season goes. I
deserve the right to be human, all right. We're about
