Speaker 1 (00:05):
Our number two of the program commences. We are live
from Morocca and Martillo out here at the Spurs Victory
Capitol Performance Center on Spurs Way, Rocco and Martillo, a
Jason Daty restaurant. Great place to come out here to
enjoy the Coaches Show tonight and hope you have an
opportunity to do just that. I'm Andy Everett. Shane Carter

(00:25):
is the producer and audio disseminator of the program today
and it's time for us to get into week six
NFL picks. We start with the Thursday night affair where
the Eagles, where everybody wants to say that their life
is over with because they got me by the Broncos
and because they've kind of slept walk through a few games. Well,
the Eagles are not dead. They're going to win this

(00:46):
game against the Giants on Thursday Night. I don't think
it's going to be close. The Giants got blown out
of New Orleans and even though they're hosting the Eagles,
I think it's going to be all Philly in this game.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Andy.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
The Giants had five turnovers against the Saints last weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
What do you think they're going to do against the
Philly defense. They give me the give me the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, that one's an easy pick right there. Broncos are
at the Jets. Aaron Glenn is realizing he has a
pretty decent quarterback in Justin Field's and a good wide
receiver in Garrett, but outside of that, they don't have much.
And I think they're gonna lose another game as the
Broncos go in to to in the Metal Lands a

(01:26):
few days after that Giants game and take care of business.
I got Denver on the road with this one.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Well, by the way, this one actually is gonna be
in wimbleyame O.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
That's right. It is an England game, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yeah, in London, So I mean the time difference might
actually factor the Jets in that one. I don't know
what to make of this Denver team because they lose
teams they shouldn't, and they beat teams that you think
that maybe they shouldn't, like the Eagles last weekend, and
I wonder where.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
The mindset is with that.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
The Jets, I don't think are a bad team in
terms of talent like you mentioned, but right now I
think Denver is just better coach. I think Aaron Glenn
will get there, but right now they're beat up in
key spots in the secondary, which supposed to the good
isn't playing very well either, So yeah, give me the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
The Colts should be undefeated if ad Ni Mitchell doesn't
do his Amari de Marcato impersonation the week before. But
they have to take on the Cardinals this week at home,
and I think they're gonna win another game. They're four
and one. I think they go to five and one,
and this is a home victory for Indianapolis.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah. The Cardinals, like I said, they're down their first
top two running backs in both James Connor and as
of yesterday, Trey Benson went to IR So the number
one guy is going to be Michael Carter, who's supposed
to be more of a change of pace guy, and
against a again surprising Colts team which is a couple
of plays away from being five to zero, and they're
at home, give me the Colts.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Chargers are at the Dolphins. Anytime a team on the
West Coast goes to the East Coast, it's hard for
them to get acclimated. Same with they go the other
way around. But I think the Chargers are ready for
a bounce bat week, and who better to do it
against than the Dolphins, who have played terribly for most
of the year. I've got the La San Diego, Southern
California whatever they want to be called, Chargers.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
All those names those crazy, But I think the Dolphins
have the fourth worst passing defense against a reinvigorated Chargers offense,
which has found something with with Quintin Johnston as the
number two receiver. And the Dolphins are beat up, They're hurt.
We don't know how long might be bals left, gonna
be coaching left. It just feels like it's more of
a matter of time. I think Chargers went big.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Patriots are taking on the Saints. The Saints somehow won
a game last week, mainly because the Giants copped it
up five times. But let's remember Spencer Rattler is their
quarterback in New Orleans and Drake may is getting coming
off his first win. If they can right that momentum
and not get too full of themselves, I think they

(03:44):
go to New Orleans and come away with a pretty
convincing win. I'll take the Patriots to knock off New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yeah, the Patriots are a quiet three and two team,
and very much firmly in that in the grasp of
the Bills lead on the East.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
But I think that.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Scares me about them is that the Patriots are a
young team with a new coach, and anytime they come
off an emotional win against the team they shouldn't beat,
like Buffalo, that doesn't always bode well for them the
next week, especially on the road.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
So you know, the Saints are underdogs. I'm gonna go
with the Saints in an upset, all right.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
The first game that we disagree on is the New
England the New Orleans game. The Browns are at the Steelers. Now,
the Browns got rid of Flacco this week and send
him to Cincinnati for swap and a pick, and that
they have named Dylan Gabriel the starting quarterback. But they
have not said who's number two, which means that probably

(04:36):
Sanders and Zappi are gonna suit up, and I wonder
if either one of those guys know who's number two.
I don't think that's a great way to win run
a franchise. I think your players, and I think your
players need to be told. I think publicly your players
need to be known who is number two, and who's
number three on the depth charts. I don't think it's
gonna matter because I think Pittsburgh's gonna win this game

(04:58):
by however many points they want. I've got Pittsburgh in
a pretty easy, convincing win. As the Browns continue to
be the Browns Andy.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
It's crazy to think that at the start of the year,
we thought the AFC North would be one of the
stronger divisions in football, And right now the Ravens are spiraling,
the Bengals are spiraling, the Browns are themselves, and the
Steelers right now are the most consistently best team in
that division. And I thought Dylan garbrielle I told you.
I Thoughtdylan gabriel played well for his first career start.
But now he has to go on the road to
Pittsburgh with a very very very good defense started with

(05:31):
JJ Watt and Alex Heighsmith on the edges. It's a
bad place to be if you're here, young Browns quarterbacks,
So give me Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Seahawks are traveling to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars.
I like the Seattle team. I think they have a
good chance of winning the division unless the Rams decidedly
finally wake up and take control of it. But they
have to go to a red hot Jacksonville team that's
feeling confident after their win over the Chiefs, and so
give me, give me the Jacksonville Jaguars in this division

(06:02):
that I thought was going to be a cakewalk for
the Texans and that nobody else was gonna finish about
five hundred. I think Jacksonville continues on this path and
gets a win on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah, Jacksonville is that this game actually has the lowest
line of any games this weekend at one and a
half favorite in Jacksonville, which is essentially a pick them.
So essentially there's no true favorite in this game. They're
giving Jacksonville the edge because it's a home game. But
we have to give some love, and you gave love
the other day the Baker Mayfield as a pinchil MVP candidate.
We need to give some love to Sam Darnold, who
has been one of the better quarterbacks, especially in the

(06:33):
NFC through the first five weeks. I like this Jacksonville defense.
I think Lean Cohen right now should be the leader
for Coach of the Year. But I think especially like
the same factor that went into New England's emotional win
over Buffalo. I think the same factors in with Jacksonville
beating the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Give me Seattle on the road, You got Seattle on
the road with this one?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Can read all of them? Can we know?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Of course, Don I was kind of going back and
forth on this because there is the chance for the
Jags to have a let down. The Rams are at
the Ravens, and the Rams on paper, at one point
this year had just a ridiculously difficult schedule and this
was part of that ridiculously difficult schedule. But let's remember

(07:17):
the Ravens are no longer the Ravens. They're out of
players and Lamar Jackson's likely not to play again. And
I think this is an easy opportunity for the Rams,
even though they got to travel to the East Coast.
I think it's a good opportunity for them to steal
a win. And I'm gonna take Los Angeles to get
the victory in Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah, Baltimore is beat up, maybe the most injury affected
team in football, And yeah, I don't really care about
their at home. There's really nothing that they can do
to stop this Rams team and there's not enough really here.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Unfortunately for the Ravens, I.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Think to make a push to the playoffs if their
key players are going to be out extended time.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
So give me the Rams in this one, and Rams big, honestly.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
All right. Next game on the list is the Titans
at the Raiders, and I'm not even sure why you
would want to watch this game. Neither team is gonna
be that exciting for me to watch. I'm guessing it
probably won't even be on here. It'll probably only be
on in the Vegas and Tennessee markets. I guess I'm
gonna take the Titans in this game, just because I

(08:17):
don't trust what the Raiders are doing and Tennessee got
that big win thanks to Arizona's mistakes. They're probably gonna
need the Raiders to make them. But I'll go with
an upset here and take the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah. I like your way of thinking, especially because we
don't know brock Bauers, who missed last week. If he's
gonna be back a bell for this game. That's the
true X factor. He's one of the best young players
in football. He's a key catalyst, not just for this
passing attack, but really well in run blocking, and even
though the Raiders are at home, I agree. I think
the Titans like that. I think this is the start
of like, not a lot, but a few wins that
they steal this year, and I like them on the

(08:49):
road against Vegas.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
The Packers were a team after they traded for Parsons
Micah Parsons. I thought we're gonna and started the season
with the win over Detroit. I thought we're going to
get a stranglehold on the NFC North. I still think
they're better than the Bengals, who they have this weekend,
and this is a game that I think the Packers
have to have with more difficult games coming up, and

(09:12):
the Bengals with Joe Flacco out there really not even
knowing the playbook. I've got Green Bay in a home win.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, same thing. It really wouldn't matter if it was
Jake Brian or Joe Flacco.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
The offensive line is beat up, and unfortunately, I think
I'm scared that Joe Burrow is going to turn to
another Andrew Luck, another young star quarterback whose career is
shortened because of injuries. Because a team can't properly add
assets on the offensive line, Packers.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
The team that I picked to win the NFC South
this year, has not disappointed. Tampa Bay is rolling right now,
and Baker Mayfield is a top the list for most
of the people's list for MVP in the league. I
think he's going to continue to roll. I think they're
going to win this division with relative ease, and they
may even be a super Bowl team with the way
they're playing, and especially if they can get back some

(09:57):
of their key players in the next few weeks. Forty
nine Ers on the road, I think the forty nine
ers are fools gold. I'm surprised that they started the
season four and one. They're going to four and two.
I got Tampa in a win Andy.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
This forty nine Ers defense allows just over three yards
rushing per carry. That is tops in the NFL against
the run, and while and while the Buccaneers they've been
able to adapt to the run with the guys like
Bucky Irvin and Rashard White, they haven't really been able
to go beyond it whenever like a teams that will
stifled the run whenever they've been purely passed. They've actually

(10:30):
been able to be even at odds throughout the season,
so I actually like the Niners in this game.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Go forty nine ers. All right, we got three disagreements
so far. All right, here's one. This will be interesting.
Pick Lions are at the Chiefs, and I think this
is the Sunday night game, and I think on paper,
the Lions are clearly the better team. But I just
think there's something about Patrick Mahomes that he's gonna deliver
some arrowhead stadium magic. He almost pulled it off in

(10:57):
Jacksonville the other day. I think the Chiefs are starting
to play a little bit better, but not to the
level that they need. They still have another week without
Rashie Rice. But I think the Chiefs figure out a
way to beat the Lions at home and get back
into the get back to five hundreds. So I'm gonna
go Kansas City with the win over Detroit's.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I really want to Kansas City too, as just as
a Patrick Mahomes fan. But I really do think that
even though not all the struggles are on him, there's
too many holes on this team. Whether it's whether it's
their defensive line not getting a pressure, whether it's the
receivers not getting open. They fe're able to fix the
offensive line, but if we're really waiting for Rashid Rice
to come in and make a difference, then that's an
issue because he's purely a slot receiver. And beyond these

(11:36):
expanded the playbook, there's not much they can do. And
right now, the Lions, after an embarrassing season opener loss
against the Packers, I think they go into Kansas City
and get the win here, So give them the Lions.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Bills are taking on the Falcons in Atlanta. I've never
trusted the Falcons. I don't know what their identity is.
I really don't know what their game plan is. They
need to use b Jean Robinson more than they do,
and when they give him the ball, good things happen.
The Bills coming off a loss all of a sudden
now are in everybody's doghouse. But I think the Bills
go on the road and beat the Falcons by a

(12:10):
couple of scores. So I'll take Buffalo in this one.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, I like I love Josh Allen after a loss.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
He's one of the better quarterbacks in the league, especially
against teams that he should he should not lose to.
That's one of those things you don't want to awaken.
And even though the Falcons are at home. I haven't
seen enough of the jump that we're supposed to see
with Michael Pennix in this offense. There's nothing here that
I can really hang my hat on to really support Atlanta,
So give me Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Bears are at the Commanders and you're starting to see
the confidence that Daniels is playing with, and you're not
really seeing a lot of confidence from the Bears and
Caleb Williams. And I think there's going to come a time,
probably near the end of this season, where the Bears
start to have to ask the question, is Caleb Williams
going to be the guy? Because clearly the guy for

(12:54):
the Commanders is Jayden Daniels. He played great last week
in the game at LA. I think they win at
home against Chicago.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
See the last time that Bears head coach Ben Johnson
played the Commanders was last year in the playoffs when
they were embarrassed and embarrassed at home against the Commanders.
I don't like the fact that Washington is still beat
up on offense, and I actually think the Bears will
play well this year and you're not gonna like this,
but I think Chicago has found something with their passing game.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
I think they found something on this offense.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I think the Bears go into DC and upset the Commanders.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Give me the Bears, give you the Bears.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
And the final game, the Cowboys are on the road
at Carolina. Carolina is still amongst the worst teams in
the league. Rico Daddell can't wait to play the Cowboys,
and I'm still not happy that they didn't extend him
or give him a new deal. But the Cowboys and
Dak Prescott are playing at a pretty high level I
think offensively right now, and I think the Cowboys win

(13:50):
by ten against Carolina.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
I'm going to give a lot of credit to Dave
Canlison what he's able to do when sort of revitalizing
Bryce Young on the from the quarterback standpoint, and the
Cowboys I thought, played obviously their best game last week,
but it seems like this still scary because I still
have too many questions on this defense for the Cowboys.
I think they get the win, but I do think
the Panthers posed some problems in terms of where the
Cowboys are weakest, whether it's against the pass and obviously

(14:15):
running on the outside. So I think the Cowboys win,
but it's closer than we want it to be.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
How much longer do the Panthers hang with Bryce Young?

Speaker 3 (14:24):
I think at least at the end of this season.
I think he showed something at the end of last year.
He's been solid at the least to start off the
year with They've won games they shouldn't. But I also
think that especially this year's draft class of quarterbacks, they
might see they're an improvement there. Especially they want to
move on from Canalis and they want to move on
from Young.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
They might do a clean sweep, but at the very
least drough this year.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
They're gonna stick with them all right through the first
five weeks. Shane is fifty twenty seven and one. I'm
forty seven and thirty and one. I think we have
four or five disagreements. This week. We'll see if I
catch up or a fall further behind, or if we
meet somewhere in the middle. Three game lead right now
for Shane. With our NFL picks.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
By the way, while we were making our picks, the
Tigers finished off the Mariners nine to three.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
We are headed back to Seattle for a game five.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Game five elimination game, and the Yankees are getting ready
to play their game coming up in a little bit,
and then the nightcap this evening is the National League
game with the Phillies and the Dodgers. All right, let's
talk James Franklin, Steve Sarkisi, and other coaches whose fan
bases think that they're terrible coaches now because they didn't

(15:30):
do what they were supposed to do at the beginning
of the season. That's coming up, it's the Andy Everage Show.
