Speaker 1 (00:04):
We got baseball underway and finished and in progress. The
Cubs trail San Diego three to nothing, the Yankees playing
about thirty minutes, and Cleveland force Game three today with
Detroit Dodgers and Reds later on tonight.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yankees actually play in about two minutes.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Andy about two minutes.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Okay, Well, I just got the I got the the well,
the notification, you know, and it said about to start,
and that usually is ten minutes away, twelve minutes away,
so I guess they're a little bit behind today.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Well, the Bernie Williams just tossed out the first pitch.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Oh that's good. Burn burn, baby burn.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, James, you owe me a coke.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
All right, let's get to NFL picks in Week five.
The Thursday Night affair is a pretty good one. It
is the forty nine Ers and the Rams. I am
I'm still not sold on the forty nine Ers as
a playoff team, even though they're three to one. I

(01:06):
think the Rams are one of the best teams in
the league and still have a shot of going to
the Super Bowl this year. Maybe a rematch with the
Eagles at some point and they're at home.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Give me the La Rams.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Wow, This is easy, Andy, because as we were talking,
they literally just put it up. Brock Party will be out,
Ricky Piersoll will be out, and Juwan Jennings will all
be out for tomorrow's game. Give me the fighting Matt
Stafford's by twenty Shane.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Yeah, not only are those guys out, but obviously this
is the first game without Joey Bosa since his torn
acl last weekend. I don't really see the Rams losing
to the Niners at any point this season, even though
Mac Jones, to his credit, has looked good.

Speaker 6 (01:49):
Give me the Rams in this one.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Vikings and Browns. It is a road game from Minnesota.
The Browns they're gonna start Dylan Gabriel should do is
waiting in the wings. Blacko's on the bench.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
No, he's not done even should.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Should Dour's the third quarterback? Still sure he is.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
I'd rather go with Bailey Zappi.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
I would too.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
He was pretty good at Western Kentucky. I'll take the
Vikings at a relatively easy win.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Vikings. It's as well. Uh,
it's another overseas game in England that nobody will be
watching because it's at eight o'clock. In the morning Central
Standard time. Uh, give me the Minnesota Vikings in cardboard, Carson.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
I don't know if he'll know this, but with Dylan
Gabriel making his first start, this sets a record for
the number of players to have started at quarterback who
have all played for a single school. There's been six
guys who started the game who have played for the
University of Oklahoma. That being said, I don't like his
first start being overseas. Give me the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Who else has been? Who else has done that?

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams, Kyler Murray and Spencer.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Ratler and Sam Bradford.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
Well, he's not playing anymore. Oh in a single season?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Oh in a single season? Got you? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Spencer Rattler.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I don't count his time at OH you He's South
Carolina and Spencer, as far as I'm.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
Concerned, analytics counts it.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
I will say, And.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
I appreciate that I'm not claiming him.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
I will say, I thought it was pretty cool when
the when the Eagles played the Cowboys on Sunday Night
Football in Week one.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I liked how and I.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Wish more players would do it, especially when transfer portal
era how instead of Jalen Hurts going with Boomer Sooner
or role Tide, he went role Sooner.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Oh that's good to incorporate both. I thought that was
kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
All right, Raiders, it cults.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Indianapolis should have been should have won last week. They
should be four and oh, if you're a longharmed brethren,
Dani Mitchell doesn't drop the ball as he's crossing the
goal line. But I think the Colts are gonna beat
the Raiders at home at Lucasfield.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
So give me Indianapolis.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Yeah, give me, give me Danny Dollars and Adanai Mitchell,
Jonathan Taylor. I was I was happy to see that
we that, Like I said that Aston Genty was gonna
finally have his breakout game. I think this game is
gonna be a lot closer than we think, Andy, But
I'm gonna go with the home team and give the
Colts the benefit of the.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Doubt right now.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Yeah, even though the Colts dropped the ball last weekend
against the Rams, I do think that the thing that's
gonna stop them this week will be a team like
the Raiders, who have a redamped offensive line and a breakout.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
Game for Masson Gen z.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
That being said, the Colts have one of the highest
offensive EPA rankings through the first four games.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
I see them winning this game by at least two touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
All right, next step, the Giants are at the Saints,
and just because Spencer Ratler plays quarterback for the Saints,
I'm not gonna pick them, so I'll take the Giants
with a road win.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
I'm gonna go with the Giants as well. I like
Jackson Dart. I like them at Old Miss, even though
they are gonna be without for the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Number one wide receiver Molik Neighbors.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
It's gonna be all on I was about to say
Spencer Ratler, Well, it kind of is, but it's.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Gonna be all on Jackson Dart. He's gonna use his.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Legs and it wouldn't surprise me Andy if this is
another blowout game, give me the New York Giants.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
I'm actually gonna go with the Saints here. I like
the home for the advantage for it.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
I don't like Jackson dark going into it with what
they beat up offensive line and against a better pass
rust that the Saints have. And even though I think
it'll be close, I think this would be one of
those rookie games that you see from the young quarterbacks.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
So I got the Saints in this one.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
The next game up is the Broncos at the Eagles.
This will be the main game for CBS, and it's
early window. I can't see Denver going into Philadelphia. The
Eagles are four. I know they really haven't played great
on offense, but I think they get to five and
zero with a win.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I really want to root for Denver because obviously I
can't stand the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
The Eagles are almost like the Chiefs last year.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Andy.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
They're just kind of mulling along winning games that they
really shouldn't, but because they have the better talent at
times at better positions, they just win it.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Give me.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
The fighting Sean Payton's give me, give me, give me
Bo Nicks, give me the Broncos to finally shut up
the Eagles, and this will be the game where aj
Brown finally decides to throw throw his book at Nick
Siriani and says, trade me.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Okay, sang that was a lot.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
First of all, I like that.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
What I like about this game and reference to the
Broncos is that they have one of the best defenses
against the rush, which the Eagles love to do. They
love to control the clock, they loves to around the
ball on the ground, and they also hold teams to
under seventeen points a game. The Eagles are not gonna
go undefeed, and I think it starts here. I also
like the Broncos in this game.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
All right, Dolphins are at the Panthers.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
This is a game that nobody wants to watch unless
you're from Miami or Carolina. I'm gonna go with the
Dolphins only because i think the Panthers are terrible. I'm
not I'm not too crazy about this, but I'll take
Miami in a close win.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
I'm gonna go with the Carolina Panthers because the outlook
for Sunday's game is going to be a brisk seventy
seven degrees, which means to Atagua Layahloa will not be
able to hold onto the football or throw it more
than three yards.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
You know, I don't like cold weather either, but seventy
seven is not cold.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Andy again, you're like my mother.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I always half heartedly joke, and I love my mother
to death that she could be good, she could be
hot on or she could be cold on the sun.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, you would be renditions on too much.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah, you would be hot in the desert in Arizona
with one hundred and twenty degrees and a little breeze
blows by, and you're.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Like, ohoo, need a jacket, I need a jacket?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Did he got Dolphins or Panthers?

Speaker 5 (07:40):
Shames?

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Sorry, I was trying to absolve.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
I was trying to absorb all that information about Andy
being cold and shriveled up. So sorry about that. Oh God, yes,
give me the Panthers.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
All right.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Texans Ravens. The Ravens are a beat up football team.
They're out of bodies. Uh, this is a golden opportunity
for used to win a road game. I think, I
know they've got Derrick Henry, but that's all they got
right now. And I think Lamar is probably not playing,
So I'm gonna go with Houston on the way on
the road.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
That is King Henry to you, Sir King Henry.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
And yeah, I mean, the only report as far as
I believe, it's from the Baltimore.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
Sun, Shane R.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yes, Baltimore's Baltimore Sun.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
They're the only ones that are kind of going out
there on a limb and confirming or at least reporting
that Lamar Jackson is gonna be out for this game
and out for two to three weeks because of the.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Hymn string string Shane, Yes, yes, thank you. I'm gonna
I'm gonna go with the with the Texans.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
I'm gonna go with the Texans to get back in
the in the winning track. And unfortunately, the good hardball
is gonna be on the hot seat. Andy.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
It's not his fault. When when all your players are hurt,
you're not gonna win.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Yeah, but you're also not gonna win when you have
the thirty two ranked overall defense either. And that and
that's even if you didn't have Cooper Rush at quarterback.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Give me the Texans.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yeah, a bad defense in Cooper Rush, that's the answer
right there. Titans Cardinals, Well, Tennessee's got to go to Arizona.
The Cardinals have been okay at times this year. This
is one of those games that I think Arizona should win,
and I'm gonna go with Arizona to beat Tennessee.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
I feel like this is a trap game, Andy, I
really feel like this is a trap game for Arizona.
I know that, and I feel bad for cam Ward.
You know former uiw quarterback, but give me the fighting
Kyler Murray's give me the Arizona Cardinals, all right, you
got them.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
I would consider a trap game only if they weren't
the fact that Tennessee's offense is just in shambles, whether
it's play calling or the fact that they're starting running
back is out. And Tony Pollard, I like Arizona in
this one pretty big.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Actually, Tampa Bay's at Seattle. It's rare that a team
goes coast to coast that far away and wins. Seattle
is a great home team. But I think Baker Mayfield
gets this done and Tampa wins a road game at Seattle.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
As much as I want to be and support the
Tampa Bakers, Bakers just doesn't have anybody. He has a
Mecca Abuka. Thank you, Shane. I got it right finally,
as Shane you know, you know, nods his head into
approval that I finally got the name right. I saw
that today that the starting running back for the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, Bucky Irving, is going to be out. He's

(10:29):
on crutches. Give me Sam Donald in the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Andy Lions. Oh you Okay, Shane, your pick. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
Not only do I think Seattle wins this game.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
I think Sam Donald is gonna have a game that
has everyone questioned whether he should be the MVP. I
know Mike right now threw up in his mouth. I'm
looking at him right now. He's not liking that. But
Sam Donald right now has one of the highest completion
percentages in the NFL. I guess they beat up Bucks secondary.
Give me Seattle. You sound like Colin.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Cowher, who was like oh.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Over the last two seasons, Sam Donald has won the
most football games in the regular season.

Speaker 6 (11:01):
Colin Coward wishes he was small sample size if.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
You have made the whole year. Oh, that's right, he sucks.
He's Sam Darnold.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Lions at the Bengals. The Bengals are another beat up
football team, and their quarterback is well. They may need
to trade for one. I don't think the Bengals are
gonna win a game until Burrow comes back, and then
it may be too late to matter. I've got Detroit
in an easy win on the road.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
I forget it was earlier this year that the Baltimore
Ravens were like an eleven and a half point favorite.
I forget who they were playing, but the Boys to
the Desert Andy have this as the Detroit Lions as
a ten and a half point favorite. I think it's
going to be over within the first like ten minutes
of this game. The fighting Dan Campbell's are gonna be

(11:47):
up like twenty one to three after the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
It is going to be a blood bath.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
I think we'll see Kyle Allen in the fourth quarter.
I don't really see an aspect in this game because
the Bengals their offensive line is terrible, their quarterback Brown
has not looked good, and their defense seems worse than
it was last year. There's no aspect of this game
that says I shouldn't pick the Lions. Am I missing something?

Speaker 3 (12:08):
You should pick the Lions?

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Then I'll go, I'll go. That's a good advice, good advice.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Commanders at Chargers, jayde Daniels has been cleared to play.
He says he will play. The Chargers just lost this
past week. For the Giants, they're coming back home. They
should win, but I don't think they will. I think
Jane Daniels makes a statement game on the road and
upsets the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
As much as I want help for the Dallas Cowboys
and the Washington Commanders to lose this football game.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
They are not.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
The Washington Commanders are going to beat the overrated Justin
Herberts and the bad cheating John Harball and Jim Jim Harball,
thank you, and they are going to uh yeah, they're
gonna send them back to Inglewood, California, crying between their
legs and saying, oh woe is me?

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Are the Commanders don't know if you saw us, not Mike,
but Joe Alter. They're starting left tackle who was supposed
to be starting right tackle. He's not gonna play this game.
And right now they're considering changing their center Bradley Boseman,
and their and their left guard Zion Johnson to switch positions.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
Robins, delions and shambles.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
And even though I think Justin Herbert I think is
the better quarterback in this matchup, I think right now
the I think the Commanders are just the better team
and they have less questions.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Oh well, Colin Caherd will come up.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
With him excuse three of us taking the Commanders a
road winning in LA.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
I can't wait to hear the excuses for Justin Herbert.
Oh well, he didn't have this, and he didn't have that.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Dak Prescott didn't have anybody last year.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Patriots are at the Bills. This is an easy win
for new for the Bills. The Patriots are getting better,
The Bills are rolling right now. I've got Buffalo with
a pretty easy win.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Pretty easy win.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Yeah, like thirty one fourteen something like that.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
Okay, I think this game is going to be a
little bit closer than we think. Andy Buffalo kind of halfheartedly.
You know this, When they played the Saints, they only
beat him by like I think it was two or three.
It wouldn't surprise me if this game is close going
into the fourth quarter and then Josh Allen goes into

(14:11):
the phone booth and then puts on the Superman Cape
give me the fighting Buffalo Bills and Bill's Mafia. But
I think it's, as lead Corso says, closer than the
experts think.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
All right, Jane, I don't know if y'all know who
leads the league in completion percentage, but Drake may. But
I think that this one, I think it's gonna be Buffalo.
I think I think Mike's rat is gonna be a
lot closer than we expect. Buffalo doesn't seem right defensively.
Maybe it's because they're older and little beat up, But
the Patriots offense, if nothing else, looks better than it
was last year.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
So Bill's close.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Jacksonville hosts the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a really
big game for Jacksonville if they think they're as good
as they played early in the year. But the Chiefs
are starting to come back to reality a little bit
on the good side, and I think Kansas City will
win at Jacksonville. I trust Mahomes over Sunshine every day.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Yeah, I'm a little torn between this one. On one hand,
I want the fighting Taylor Swifts to go down and
crumbles and flame so we don't.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Have to worry about talking about them anymore.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
But on the other hand, I don't want Sunshine and
the fighting Travis Hunters to do any any good. But
if i'm if I stand correct, and Shane remind me,
I believe the Jacksonville Jaguars right now lead the league
in turnovers right as far as creating.

Speaker 6 (15:27):
Turnovers, I believe that, or they're tied.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, they're up there.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah, but Kansas City never turns it over because they
get an overturned call if it happens.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Give me Andy, give me the Jacksonville Jaguars to beat
the fighting Taylor Swifts and the and the Patrick Mahomes
is all right one, Shane.

Speaker 5 (15:48):
In addition to that, Mike, I don't know if you
know this or not, but the Jags are one of
two teams that are that are only top five and
scoring defense and red zone defense. They don't let you
get points if they can help it. They're really good
and really really sound inside the inside the twenty. But
even still, I felt like Mahomes last week with the
addition of of the Xavier Worthy, really opened up the offense,
especially against the Ravens. I think this is that was

(16:09):
probably the turnpoint for them this season. I don't know
that the Chiefs are still a contender because I have
questions about them, especially on the offensive line, but I
think the Chiefs will at least win this game.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Last game is the Cowboys at the Jets, and this
goes into that column. If you have any aspirations whatsoever
of being good this year, this is a game you
have to win if you're Dallas. The Jets are zero
to four. They played well against Pittsburgh. They've had their
epsod downs, elsewhere. They had thirteen penalties and three turnovers
on Monday Night. I think the Cowboys win on the

(16:39):
road in the meadowlands.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
The one thing that the Cowboys do not have to
worry about with the with the New York Jets is
a passing offense. That's the one thing they don't have
to worry about. They've been good in the run game,
the one thing. And I was glad to see this
with Justin Fields that what is it like fourth and
one that he ran a busted a busted fourth playing
they ran for like forty five yards for a touchdown.

(17:02):
I was happy to see that that, you know, he
had a little bit of motivation and moxie and saying, hey,
I'm Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
I still have it.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
That being said, give me the Dallas Cowboys, and it's.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Not gonna be it'll be over reaction.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
Because I feel like this is gonna be Cowboys thirty
Jets ten.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
All right, Jane, you know, a little deja vous.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
This is the second time in the last ten years
the Cowboys had played the Jets when the Jets have
been zero to four. If y'all remember that was back
when they went to MetLife and they lost to Sam Darnold, tell.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
Me, yeah, but in this one. I don't fann other
s an noto.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
But right now, the Cowboys own the top rated quarterback
in the NFL and Dak Prescott, who the.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
First four games.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Yeah, he is the top rated quarterback in the NFL,
both in terms of passing and passing efficiency and either
the Jets have been had a solid defense overall, They've
given up a lot of big plays down the field.
That's been their big things have been plays down the field.
And I think that's how the Cowboys win this game.
I think the Jets will still give the Cowboys defense
and fits, but the Cowboys ultimately win this one.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Yeah, Sauce Gardner this year Andy as good of a
lockdown corner as he's been in lots of penalties.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Falcons, Bears, Packers, and Steelers on buys. Those are our
fourteen picks for the week. We'll see how we do
come Monday. In Tuesday, let's talk Joe Flacco and Dylan Gabriel. Next,
it's the Andy Everage Show on the Ticket

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
