Speaker 2 (00:03):
Welcome back to it.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
I want to get into a lot of this Dallas
Cowboys stuff. I just spent a little bit of time
with Caleb Williams and quarterbacks, and obviously a quarterback wins
you a super Bowl, yes or no, he helps, he helps,
And Joe Flacco, I mean, obviously defense wins championships stuff
like that. And of course Trent Dilford the same way,

(00:25):
both of those quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Obviously in Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Baltimore wins super Bowls by defense, which is surprising me
that everybody says it's Lamar's year. But tag Prescott, Oh geez,
where do I begin with the Dallas Cowboys? How many
weapons do we need to give Dak Prescott this year?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
What did we add to him?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Mike, go ahead, tell us what we've added to this
spectacular buffet line.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Of the Dallas Cowboys this year.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Well, the most notable one, obviously was trading for George Pickens. Yes,
former Pittsburgh number one Pittsburgh Steeler. So that helps, which
again is an improvement. Because you know Brandon Cooks, I
believe he re signed with New Orleans and I like,

(01:09):
I liked Brandon Cooks, but he got injured last year.
I think it was a knee injury, and then it
also turned into like a knee infection, so he wound
up being out for a while. And as much as
a home run hitter that he is of Cavante Turpin,
I just Cavante Turpin cannot be my number two guy.

(01:30):
He can't be my starting number two. And besides that,
I don't know who I Jalen Tolbert, all right, He's
just a guy, you know. So they they upgraded there
because now if you do try to double team one
of those guys, hey, the other one's going to be open.
Or it possibly helps the tight end situation with Jake Ferguson.

(01:50):
You know, the one thing that Patton and Jay and
Andy always say for utsa broadcast, tight ends always open.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
You know, It's just true, you know. So there's a
lot of things that can help Dak. Right is Dak
the guy? I love that question, don't you. It's just
so open? Right is Dak the guy? Obviously we've signed him. Obviously,
when I say we am representing the Dallas Cowboys right now,

(02:19):
I am not a Dallas Cowboys fan. A lot of
people don't like that fact, but it is what it
is I'm just not now I can see.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
It from a different perspective.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Obviously, Dak Prescott healthy, Okay, Dak Prescott mid season, meh,
Dak Prescott end of season, never really seen it that much,
and he's made some terrible decisions in the playoff games
that he has been part of. Is Dak the guy?
Because here's my question.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
To you, Mike.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
You go through this season with the weapons that you
just named. To me, obviously, the Cowboys problem last year
was what scoring?

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Touchdown scoring and running back? Right?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
And I believe your kicker was leading the way in
points Brandon Aubrey. Yeah, so we gotta we gotta solve that.
We gotta score tds right, correct. You know we got
to get back to the college days of CD with
the td Yep. You know you've got to get back
to the flash, which is the Cowboys, right, the flash
and the e haaw. Let's get it done right, because

(03:24):
slowly people are starting to talk about the Texans more
than they are the Cowboys. The Cowboys could load up
at any moment because hey, hey, hey, hey, I got
a lot of money and I could win the Super Bowl.
Jerry Jones, right, He's got everything that he can. What
if he doesn't? What what if you go five hundred?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Mike? What are the Cowboys going to do?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Everybody ends healthy, there's no injuries, there's no hamstring pools,
there's no nothing. Let's say the Cowboys finished five hundred,
what do the Cowboys need to do?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Well? I mean at that point, I think depending on
what the reason for. And by the way, they can't
go five hundred anymore now with the extra game, unless
I'm saying, but it would depend on what the reasoning
is it all solely because the offense, the running back
and Dak was struggling, or was it because the defense

(04:17):
was struggling.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Okay, so let's say we struggle with the offense.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
And I mean, I know that you're trying to take
it more real here and everything else like that, but
let's say the defense hasn't really been a problem for
the Cowboys from what I've.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Seen over the past couple of years. True, besides last year.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Besides last year where the Saints just blew you guys
out of the water.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
YEP, loved it. Thought we were going to Super Bowl
Saints for two and oh here we go.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
The baby whoa reality said and didn't it. And then
so with Dak, do you move forward from him? Is
his time up?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
At that point? I think if you're Jerry and Steven,
you the conversation does get brought up. And obviously the
whole notion that everybody always throws out there, well, the
Cowboys just trade Dak Prescott. The only thing with that
is Dak Prescott has a no trade clause. So it
would have to be somewhere that you agree on, Hey,

(05:13):
we'll send you to here, and if he says, yeah,
I'm cool with it, then you can make it happen.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
I've always thought of it this way, and I'm going
to put a little bit of Cleveland and a little
bit of mix in here, right, I'm going to make
a mixed drink here of the NFL for Dak Prescott.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
I think you need to give him some competition.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I think you need to bring in a solid number two,
you know, because God blessed Cooper Rush.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Okay, he was.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Never going to be the guy serviceable, right, he was
a guy that came in because Dak was hurt. I
think you need to bring in a solid number two,
somebody who could have a better performance than Dak, and
then all of a sudden, Dak's on the bench. You know,
I think that that's probably what the Cowboys need to
do here to kind of get Dak to be the guy.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
I know that Dak likes to say it, and he
says it for the media and you say this all
the time off the air, Mike, Well, there's because there's
cameras around. Yeah, I get that, But maybe you need
a solid number two for the Dallas Cowboys to kind
of a competition a little bit for Dak Prescott thoughts.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
I don't know if it's necessarily that, because again, let's
remember that Dak Prescott has granted he started his career
because not only did Tony Romo get hurt, but at
the time the number two quarterback, Kellen Moore got hurt
as well, and he took his opportunity and ran with it.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Right, he has earned this position.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
And you know, just go back to two years ago
he was in talks and having an MVP level season.
He finished second in MVP voting. For everybody that wants
to just move off of Dak Prescott like it's nothing,
I always I always re iterate, let's not forget who

(07:02):
the Cowboys have had since the glory days of Troy,
and you could say, even with Tony Romo again, Anthony Wright,
Quincy Carter, Clint Sterner, Drew Hutchinson, Chad Henney, Vinnie Testa, Verdi,
Brad Johnson, and I can Matt Castle, uh bledsoe, Mark Sanchez,
Drew Bledsoe.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
I mean I can go on.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yeah, so you guys are the Cleveland Browns of the
South with quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yeah, like the quarterback was terrible. And then here comes
Tony Romo and then here comes Dak Prescott, and yes,
we're all spoiled because we want Captain America, we want Roger,
we want Troy.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yes, the glory days. I mean, I think everybody in
Denver wants John Elway. I think everybody in Green Bay
would rather have Brett Farr At this point, that's Brett
Farva f Farv far Man. His jerseys are declining like
crazy for for autographs now it's crazy. So you know,
for me, Dak Prescott, I say, put in a solid

(08:06):
number two. Put in a solid number two. That could
be a threat for Dak Prescott. So if he does
have an off game and he can't blame anybody but himself,
then the Dallas Cowboys are ready to just move on,
and they can move on with him because remember New
England did that.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yeah, but they remembered they actually did have that. It
was Andy Galton.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I mean, Dak Prescott could honestly get a Super Bowl ring,
maybe being a backup for the Cowboys. That's what happened
in New England. Now Drew Bledsoe got a super Bowl
ring because of Tom Brady. Yeah wow, that was because
if I forget who knocked him out, but.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
It doesn't matter. Yeah, still got a Super Bowl ring.
It's yeah true.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
So coming up, I want to switch back over to
the hardwood and talk a little NBA with you on
the Andy Everye Show on Ticket seven to sixty
