(00:34):
Andy Everage Show on this Wednesday afternoon, and we have
a basketball game to react to from last night. We've
got a big game in the Madison Square Garden later
on this evening. It's not the most overrated arena in
the world. It's the most important one, even though Michael
doesn't agree with that.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
No, it's not it is.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
He is the important. But I still think it's overrated.
I don't think that it's not poor, but I do
think it's overrated.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Well, how do you define overrated?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Every major sporting event that's ever mattered has been in
that building.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Again, I don't think that it's not one of the most,
if not the most important arena. But as far as
it being I just I think it's overrated because it's
just another arena.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
You haven't been there, and you're probably not going to
go either, so probably not. I don't want to go
to New York. Why would I want to go to
New York. It's a great city, it's a good place
to visit.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
I don't know that i'd want to live there, but
you should experience everything at least once or twice.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
That's all right, all right. Shane Carter is.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Our other audio a dissimilator today thanks to him here Leet,
let's get into the topics for the day. Oklahoma City.
I don't know if they're going this week. Minnesota, but
Minnesota better come up with a different game plan because
the thunders defense was stifling last night, and the Thunder
throw a whole bunch of different options at you, and
you've got to figure out which one you're going to guard.
(01:53):
It is an incredibly underrated cast of characters around Shay
Gildas Alexander. We were talking during the afternoon today that
Chad Holmgren may not even be the second best player
on the on the Thunder roster that Jay dub but
I believe is the one that starts. He's just as
good and Hardenstein's been good. So this is a really
(02:15):
solid Oklahoma City team that not a lot of people
look out on paper and go, how do they just
keep winning? They only lost only lost one regular season
game this year to an Eastern Conference team. Talk more
about that little in a little bit. Uh, they just
put it on and they kind of let you lull
yourself into a false sense of security by playing it
close in the first half and then turning on the
(02:36):
juice in the second half.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Well, I would say this is definitely going to be
It surprised me a little bit of how how well
Minnesota came out, especially in the first half, that they
were able to stay with the Oklahoma City Thunder because
that old adage rushed versus rest. I thought that Minnesota
was gonna be a little rusty to come out, but
(03:00):
I did not expect them to play I guess as
well as they did. But then when Anthony Edwards got
hurt well rolled the ankle again. I mean you could
say that that necessary, that that kind of hindered.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
It hindered them.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
But what gets lost in this andy is these are two,
if not the best to defensive teams in the league.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah, but I thought Oklahoma City's defense was just better.
And I'm going to talk more about shay gilges Alexander
and comparing him to something to a baseball connotation. But
I am more and more impressed by the way say plays.
And there's a lot of people in Minnesota that say
he is foul bating. Yeah he is, and he does
it really well and there's nothing you can do about it.
We'll get into more of that little bit. It's time
(03:43):
for Doc Garrett today. In about ten twelve minutes from now,
we'll talk with him. The tush push is not going
to be banned. We'll see what he thinks is going
to cause any injuries from that. And flag football in
the Olympics. What are we looking at here for players
who want to play in the understand NFL players want
to do this. They want to be Olympians. And if
(04:05):
they can't make the American team, and if they have
any heritage to another country, a great grandmother that's from
Spain or South Africa, they're going to join that team,
because everybody that has ever been an Olympic athlete talks
about the experience and the camaraderie that they have with
the other athletes. So this is something the players want.
It's something that the ownership groups are cringing about because
(04:27):
they don't want one of their better players to go
down and not be able to, uh to perform because
it's going to be a summer Olympics in June July
about I think late July, early August, and then as
soon as the Olympics are over, you're going straight into
the into camp. So we'll get into that coming up
here in a little bit as well. Uh, the Yankees
have some news to get to. Joe Joey Korra was
(04:50):
a bit of controversy in the Boston area last night.
I had nothing to do with trash cans at the score.
Alex Joey there. I guess they're brothers. I think of
it when I see him. I always saying Joeycore. But
it is Alex Corus. So we'll talk about him coming up.
The Bill Belichick. Jordan Hudson's story is not going to
go away anytime soon. And you know, from time to
(05:15):
time when people age. We wonder what their state of
mind is. Yeah, and I'm starting to wonder what bills is.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Oh, you're coming around.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
I am coming around.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
But I also wonder what manipulation is going on behind
the scenes, because a lot of the things that are happening,
I am just kind of wondering, what are we doing here?
Speaker 2 (05:35):
I don't have a problem.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
If they both want to have this relationship, it would
not be something I would be very happy or proud of.
I'll get into that later, but yeah, this is this
is getting soap opera like. We'll get into that obviously.
The Nicks and Pacers play Game one tonight. We've got
a basketball player who's in trouble overseas with drugs.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
That's not a good thing.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
The I ask you this question earlier this after the
Indiana Fever. It's only one game, the one home game
they had this weekend, but the one home game had
more fans than the Pacers average throughout the season. Now,
would imagine in the playoffs the Pacers will fill the
place up, just like the fever did. I think it's
pretty remarkable that the fever can put eighteen, nineteen, twenty
(06:19):
thousand people in an arena but the biggest storyline in
the WNBA is Angel Reese. And I'm wondering if Angel
Reese is just playing a game here?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Is this just a bit?
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Is this just I have decided that maybe I'm not
as good as Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Maybe i am. We'll never know.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
But even if I am as good as Kitlin Clark,
nobody's ever going to give me credit for it. So
I'll play the role of villain. I'll be Draymond Green.
I'll be you know, Rashid Wallace from the past. I'll
be somebody that's polarizing and really on the edge. I'll
be Bill Ambier. I may closeline somebody once in a while.
Do we think that the Angel Reese thing is just
(06:59):
a bit? And if it is, it's a good one
because it's getting her and the league notoriety. I'm not
saying it's wrong for it to be a bit. Is
the the disdain for Caitlin Clark real or is it
just a show?
Speaker 3 (07:12):
I mean short answer, it's it's flat out jealousy. It's
it's jealousy on Angel Reese. Even going back to the
LSU days. I mean, think about the first impression for
me that I ever knew of Angel Reese was her
bad sportsmanship, flaunting, doing the faith battery, and in the
(07:37):
ring literally chasing down, you know, walking down Caitlin Clark
after winning the Now, not her, but the LSU Tigers
women's team women in.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
The national champion and the l s U women's team
two seasons ago. They were good. They had a better
team than Iowa did Iowa. Iowa had a good team,
but they weren't as good as LSU. I think it
was I think it was Iowa. I remember which team
beat South Carolina, But of course South Carolina was good
that year too, and they have been for a long time.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
But Iowa was good.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
LSU was better, and everybody knew that LSU was going
to win that game, and it was going to take
LSU playing beneath themselves and Iowa playing above themselves to
win that game. The other way around, the Caitlin Clark
may have been as good a player as there was
on the floor, but the other team's team was better,
and Kim Mulk had put a really good roster together
(08:30):
that season. So we'll talk more about that. But I'm
wondering if Angel Race just wants to become the Bill
Lambeer of this generation or Draymond Green or any of
the other villains that have been part of basketball at
other sports. We are getting out close to Memorial Day weekend,
and one of the traditions in San Antonio and South
(08:51):
Texas and the Gulf for I think nineteen eighty eight
or eighty nine was the first year they did this
is the Coastal Conservation Ociation's Fishing Tournament, and it's a
great opportunity for people who like to fish to win prizes,
big time prizes, and all you have to do is
join CCA start to do that. We're going to talk
(09:12):
with Ryan Towns a little bit later on about the
importance of these next few months.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Last year, the fishing wasn't very good, especially off the
jetties and peers from what I'm told, because of weather
issues and tight issues. Hopefully it's better this year, and
we're going to tell you how you can win some
prizes and maybe get a scholarship or something like that
and enjoy the outdoors this summer. Coming up with Ryan
in the six o'clock hour, I mentioned that we've got
(09:38):
the Knicks and the pacers and everybody's gonna reminisce about
the olden days when Reggie Miller and Spike Lee were
giving each other the business on the sideline and John
Starks and Patrick Ewing were playing for Indiana. But I
still like Reggie Miller's line, I'm not scared of this place.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I own this place. I own New York City.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
He's like, he's like a a Ron with the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
You go look at the Wikipedia.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
It says who's the Chicago Bears, Daddy, it's Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yes, a a Ron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Let's go one of the funniest bits, Key and peel
if you haven't, yeah it was.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
It is Wron. Really you give me any problems with this? Yeah?
All right?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Oh shreg Hennessy's office principal, O'Shaughnessy.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Yeah, slap the lapboard, the clipboards right right here?
Speaker 3 (10:32):
All right?
Speaker 2 (10:33):
How hard was that?
Speaker 3 (10:33):
You know? All right?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
All right, let's uh, let's get to Doc Garrett coming
up here in a few minutes. We'll talk about that,
the Jordan Hudson stuff. Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Shaye. By the way, he's gonna win MVP.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
If you're TNT and you were planning on announcing that tonight,
the cat's out of the bag Shams was the first
to report it, or Sham's I think is how it's
actually pronounced. But I think he was the first one
to actually report it. But everybody knew he was gonna
win anyway. You'll kich his probably sacked it. I think
probably Jason Tatum is going to be third or fourth
or fifthe there. Johannis was third. Yeah, well the finalists
(11:08):
were Shay Jokic Janis, so Jannis was third. Tatum is
probably going to be fourth. Who cares after that, but
that's kind of where we're at. All right, let's get
to Doc Garrett. We'll do that next. It's the Andy
average show on the ticket
