to a seriously brave kid and a late night glass
of water that turned into a full on rescue mission.
Your kids ever get up in the middle of the night.
I'm thirsty, I want a snack. Yeah, you need some
water multiple time. Yeah, it's like, okay, let's go back

to bed, let's not worry about it. But this one
actually saved lives. Camden County, Missouri, around one am this
past Monday, ten year old Sofia Ireland did what most
kids do in the middle of the night. She got
up for a glass of water, except she was on
her family's houseboat in the Ozarks. She noticed something outside

the window. Not a ripple on the lake, not a
bird flames. Somebody's dock was on fire. So instead of
freezing or thinking, oh, somebody else will handle it, Sofia
ran straight to her mom, waking her up, setting off
a chain reaction that likely saved the lives of people
that were in the house connected to the dock on fire.

People were asleep in their houseboats, no alarms, no idea
like this could have been catastrophic, but Sofia's warning gave
them precious minutes to get out. One of the neighbors, Candas,
hugged Sophia and said, you literally saved my life. Let
that sink in. The fire destroyed the Ireland's houseboat. They
lost everything, but Sophia's dad, Blaine, said it best. You

know that stuff can be replaced. My wife and daughter cannot.
Very true. Here's where the community magic kicks in. Since
the fire, neighbors have shown up big time, groceries, clothes,
even boats, rallying around the family that raised the little
girl who made sure everyone else got out alive. So
