Speaker 1 (00:00):
Start your day on a positive note with the B
ninety three Morning Show right around six ten weekday mornings
brought to you by Modernistic Picture. This one guy hunter
sets out for a simple day trip and then disappears
for nearly three weeks. Is that not like nightmare fuel? Yes,
(00:20):
what happens next is nothing short of miraculous. This was
on October thirteenth. Fifty five year old Ron Daily headed
into the Sierra National Forest in California for a routine
day of hunting. He told his family he'd be home
that night, and he never returned. Panic set in, massive
search effort began. I mean, fifty five, this guy is
(00:43):
not a new hunter. He's been doing this for years
and years. He's got the experience, and multiple agencies joined
forces for more than twenty long days, search and rescue teams, deputies, drones,
they got volunteers to scot the rugged terrain, His family praying,
(01:03):
the community holding on to hope, but no sign of Ron.
What they didn't know was that his truck had broken
down high in the mountains. Oh no, Ron was absolutely stranded.
He had no cell service, plummeting temperatures, He used the
food that he had and sheltered inside the truck, trying
(01:24):
to stay warm and also trying to stay calm. Yeah,
days past. He made a decision, all right, this is it.
I got to try to save myself, which is risky.
But he climbed down the steep terrain searching for help,
slipped multiple times, and eventually lost his phone. Weak and exhausted,
he kept going and that is when the miracle came.
(01:47):
A group of hikers totally by chance, spotted him. They
called for help. Ron was airlifted to a hospital. He
is recovering after nearly three weeks alone in the wilderness.
It's terrifying, terrifying. I mean to think that you can
be such a seasoned professional at this. You know, guys
fifty five years old. He's been hunting all his life,
(02:07):
he said. And something as crazy as like you're just
your truck breaks down. Yeah, no cell service. So Ron's
wife shared her gratitude on social media, calling his rescue
an absolute miracle. Thinking every person who searched and prayed
and refused to give up hope. Sometimes survival isn't just
your strength and your knowledge in what you're doing. Sometimes
(02:29):
it's faith, and it's community and its pure determination and
a little bit of chance and a little bit of luck.
So the takeaway today, even in the wilderness, crazier things
have happened. Yeah, you're never really alone. Hope has a
way of finding you and getting me out of tough situations.
That's how you start your day on a positive note.
