several days ago, those alarm clocks went off bright and
early because Firearm Deer season was officially opening at six
fifty three a m. And this year it was an

extra special one. It's the first time since twenty fourteen
that opening day fell on a Saturday. Oh so, hunters
all across the state were out in full force. But
here's the real awesome part. Michigan Hunters Feeding Michigan program
just hit a massive milestone. More than five hundred and

sixty thousand servings of venison were donated to Michigan food banks.
Oh that's a brilliant idea. It's a new record. More
than one hundred and forty thousand pounds of venison were
processed and turned into protein rich meals for families in need,
all at no cost to the hunters who donated their deer. Joe,

who runs the program, says he has flooded every year
with thank you calls from food pantries and for a
lot of families, especially with one in six michigan Ers
facing food insecurity, one in six just in Michigan, the
venicon is making a huge difference. Since two thousand and seven,
hunters across the state have provided more than three million

servings of venison. Holy cow, isn't that incredible? That's amazing.
That is neighbors taking care of neighbors the Michigan way. So,
if you want to donate your deer this season, locations
and dates are posted all across the state, from Escanaba
to Eau Claire, Sterling Heights, Howard City, Galard, everywhere. Hunters
just need to bring in a legally tagged, field dressed

deer and the processors take it from there super easy. Yeah,
I say, not being a hunter. So while hunters are
heading into the woods, many of them are coming out
with more than just a harvest. They are helping put
food on tables in communities all across Michigan. And that's
