around six ten weekday mornings with the B ninety three
Morning show. Today, Awesome Sauce takes us under the hood
literally for a wild little story about an auto mechanic,
a long lost wallet, and a whole lot of luck.
Chad Volk owns an auto shop in Crystal Lake, Minnesota,

and one day, while replacing the cooling fans on a
twenty fifteen Ford Edge, he noticed that an air box
wasn't fitting quite back into place like it should. So
he looked again and he found something wedged just above
the transmission a leather wallet. Ooh man, and it was
not the customers, okay. Inside was a Ford Motor Company

employee ID for a guy named Richard Richard Gilford, a
retired auto worker who builds Fords in Michigan. Turns out,
eleven years ago Richard lost that wallet while working the
overnight shift on the assembly line. The odd and get this,
the car went from the Chicago plant to a dealership

in Arizona, then to Minnesota, logging one hundred and fifty
thousand miles before landing in Chad's garage. Richard had chocked
the wallet up as gone forever. He even remembers saying, man,
I lost my wallet to a coworker at like two am,
and they searched everywhere and they just couldn't find it.
But now, thanks to Chad's curiosity and some good old

fashioned Facebook sleuthing, Richard has his wallet back. And yes,
the fifteen dollars cash that was inside when he lost
it was still there, and so were the two hundred
and fifty dollars in Cabella's gift cards from over a
decade ago, which still worked. By the way, Chad laughed
and said, maybe I need to start checking under more

air boxes, but Richard said it best. You know, I
really feel like the right guy found it. That's awesome.
