Speaker 1 (00:00):
Be ninety three Morning Show. I'm Ali Max, and I'm like,
somebody's got some rules for Valentine's Day.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
My wife Ali does. I just I'm not on board.
I'm just not on board.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
You and I are really struggling with Valentine's Day this year.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
Yeah, And I don't know was Valentine's Day outside of YIMMI.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Has it always been something that you celebrated anywhere?

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Oh? No, okay, no, See that's where we're kind of
the same then, because I didn't really either.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
In fact, my wife and I.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Barely celebrate it because when we first met, it was
like we our very first date was supposed to be
the weekend of Valentine's Day. Oh, but we didn't want
to make it like a like that's like a weird
thing to do on your first date.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Right, Yeah, I would not go on a first date
for Valentine's Day.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Right, So we chose the day before the thirteenth to
go on our very first date, and it was going
to be our anti Valentine's Day date, and I still
ended up going like like just I wanted to impress her,
So I did a lot of these like I got
it like a limo, like just crazy things that I
could never hold up to after that moment, Like you
got a limo, I got a limo, and I was

(01:10):
like for.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
An anti Valentine's Day day.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Yes, we went to like I think Tray Cujenis was
still around, Remember that restaurant.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yes, that used to be where what is it there now?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I want to say, it's not Peppinos, It's.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Not Pepinos Noos?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Downtown Yes, I yeah, I've been there. I was there too.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
So so we but we never, like because it was
such a weird first time on on Danty, we never
really fully embraced Valentine's Day until recently.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
We started doing little things here and there.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
And then you have kids, and then the kids get
their their mom something for Valentine's Day.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
That's interesting. So you know, you guys never really did
Valentine's Day until.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
How recently the last probably five to ten years, somewhere
in that range. I don't know exactly what changed. You
just start to appreciate the person more and you want
to show more, Like.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Life starts getting a little bit busier, yeah, carving out
a little more time to just kind of spend the
two of you.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Yeah, so date nights become like more uh meaningful, and
so the holidays become those type of things become more
meaningful because, like you said, we want to carve out
those moments. So I thought, going in now we're starting
to do gifts again. I thought, going into this year,
we'll get you know, we'll just go out.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
You go, pick what you want to pick. I pick
what I want to pick.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
We come back, we'll have these whatever, you know, these
these gifts that mean a lot to the other person.
She goes, I don't want anything. I would rather you
go find my favorite candy. We don't spend more than
five dollars, and that's it.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
I love that.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
What no, no, no, no, no no no. We gotta
we gotta Like I have all these like ideas that
I see. I scrolled the internet all day every day,
so these little cute things pop up, and I'm like,
she would love this. I'm going to hold on to
this so that when Valentine's there or something special comes around,
I'm gonna get it for her. And she's like, she's

(03:09):
so opposite. She's like, nah, I would rather just you
get me candy that I love. And I'm like Okay,
well what kind?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
She goes? You should know what kind?

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Oh, so now I have to I have to know
exactly what her favorite kind of candy is. I have
to can't spend more than five dollars, and all I
want to do is go spend more money, like not
a ton, but like more to like show.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
This isn't even one of those times where you can
be like, guess what I got you? Yeah, and then
she's like, did you give me my favorite candy? Yep,
guess what kind? And then she like tells you about
you having to ask.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
I think, I think I know what it is, but
she's gonna be mad if I go above and beyond,
Like she's there's.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Oh, you don't think so I have an idea, Okay,
I have an idea.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Okay, Michigan's number one for New Country B ninety three
getting you into school and work.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
With the B ninety three morning show.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
I'm Ali Mac, and I'm like, we're talking about Valentine's
Day and.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
What we're doing, and there's.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
A little bit of a of a different set of
rules in the agular household this year.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
This is new for us because we didn't necessarily celebrate
it like every single year.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, it's just more and more.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
We're starting to appreciate more and more of these these moments,
these things like our date nights and stuff like that
than we have recently.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
So I thought, going into this year, we're gonna get gifts.
You know I have.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Here's here was my first idea. I'll just tell you
it is because I can't do it. We play Uno
all the time. Yeah, because we play with the kids.
It's just a fun game around the house. So I
wanted to get There's an Uno reverse card in a
picture frame and it says I love you more.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Oh, that's very sweet.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
That's what I want. That's what I That's the reaction
I wanted to.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
That's also funny and cute.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
It's the reaction I wanted to.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
And she said, no, I don't want to do big
gifts or any sort of gift. All I want is
my favorite candy. Keep it under five bucks. I'll do
the same for you.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
It's tricky spot, but a little bit tricky spot.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
There's a lot that could that that. I mean, I
think I know what the candy is. I should I should, right,
It's been a long time, yeah, since two thousand and nine.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
I should know what her favorite candy is, but.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Also like I want to do a little bit more,
and I just feel like it's not going to go
the way that I think it's going to go if
I do.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Okay, do you want my advice?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (05:31):
My advice is to get her the candy and the card, okay, right,
and do what you guys agreed upon doing. Okay, But then,
like you know, as long as one of your other
ideas isn't like super over the top or like super expensive,
I think you've got the green light to do it anyway,
because she's not going.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
To be like mad that you got her a gift, right.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
She's going to be like, we agreed not to get
each other gifts, but secretly she's going to be like.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I love him so much.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
You don't think she's gonna feel bad though that if
she doesn't do the same thing.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
I mean, you know your wife the best.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Right, right, right, right, Like maybe there's a level of.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
It would that make her really really mad or really
really sad?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I doubt it. I doubt it.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
And like who's gonna say that you're the bad guy
because you got your wife an extra gift on Valentine's day.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Well then I well then yeah, But then also at
the other end of that, it looks like, like, what's
the word I'm looking for.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
It looks like I'm one uping and I'm not.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
But it's what it looks like, and that she feels
that she feels bad about it because she didn't do
the same thing.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Then next year it's just us going back and forth.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Like who can And even if you are one upping
a little.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Bit, yeah, like in that scenario.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Still a win.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, it's still a win. It's still a win. So
I think like in this, in this scenario, you just
you can't lose. This is a can't lose situation. She's
I feel like she will do that.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
We agreed not to.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I love the voice too, you know.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
But I feel like secretly she's gonna be like this
was so sweet.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
So my other thought was you mentioned those bracelets, Yes,
those forever bracelets.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Oh, now you want to steal my Sweetest Day idea?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I like it. It's a great idea. It's a great idea.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
I know.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
That's why I feel like, since I got that for
gimme on Sweetest Day, I'm kind of off the hook
for Valentine's.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Day this year, I think the level of gift now
can be. You could do the candy. You got some
amazing gift on Sweetest Day.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yes this is yes, you said no.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
We agree,
