The b ninety three Morning show. I'm Ali Mack and
Mike seven nine. Here are three things you should know today.
Grand Rapids police say a group of teens try to
rob and assault a couple right after the Santa Parade
on Saturday. Officers were able to stop this very quickly
thanks to the big police presence downtown for the event.
Four teenagers were arrested, including a nineteen year old carrying
(00:23):
a stolen handgun with an extended magazine. Police are urging
parents check in with your kids about who they are
hanging out with, especially as more big holiday events come
to the city. Walgreens recalling more than forty one thousand
bottles of their saline nasal spray after tests found bacterial contamination.
(00:43):
The spray is something a lot of families use to
clear congestion and moisturized dry noses help kids breathe easier.
Was sold nationwide and may pose risks for people with
a weakened immune system. So if you've got this, check
the lot numbers online and stop using it immediately. Affected
bottles can go back to wherever you bought it from. Jeez,
if you would like a Christmas tree with an actually
(01:05):
cool story behind it. The US Forest Service lets you
cut down your own tree for just five bucks, okay,
Clark Griswold style. Michigan's National Forests are now open through
the end of December, so this program actually helps keep
the forest healthy by thinning over crowded trees. So they
want you out there. A couple things you gotta do.
(01:28):
Grab a permit on Recreation dot Gov. You gotta follow
the rules. You know, you might not be able to
take your chainsaw out there. You might have to do
it by hand. But boom, holiday bragging rights forever and eva.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah if you get I mean, that's something that I'm
walking into every Christmas party, every Thanksgiving the thing and
going hey with a.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Little swagger in your step.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Uh, guys, you guys cut down your own tree this year?
Or what are you guys doing? Oh me, Oh yeah,
I just a big deal. I just ripped one out
of the ground.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Like maybe not every year, no, but that is a
core memory, yeah guarantee. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
That's three things you should know. Here's one you probably shouldn't.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
All right, here is the latest list of trendy toys
and gifts kids are asking for this holiday season. According
to toy insider, and I've done a little research to
see if my kids have asked for these. Air tubes
are the first two things on the list, and some
of us might be like, what are air tubes? They are?
That's stem toys in general are like huge this year.
(02:27):
That's what my kids ask for. I think that's what
Apparently it's what a lot of kids are asking for.
These are like marble tubes that you create and build
in shape or whatever and it like shoots the marbles through.
Oh cool. Yeah, they're like one hundred and fifty bucks
for marble tubes. But kids, I mean I like that
honestly a lot because it's stem and I think that's
that's very important.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
How many dads are thinking right now, you're gonna put
that together? Give me an hour in home depot. I
can fill, I can find something.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
We have ho we have a hose outside exactly, let's
get a tube. Paw patrol marshals reload fire truck. Also
on that list slime Mart, which is a basket and bag.
I thought this was slime like in general slime, I
think it's something completely different. And then on that list
(03:15):
as well, it's slime, but it's like it's like, I
don't know, like like food shaped slime, if that makes sense,
like Plato shaped slime or like food things. That's that's
sticking in the carpet. I don't know that I'm getting
that one. And then the other one on the list
is Pokemon, a Pokemon trading game, which Pokemon is starting
to make another resurgence, which I wasn't fully into as
(03:38):
a kid. My brother was really really super into and
my son's right now, I love Pokemon, So I don't know,
we'll see on that one.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Now.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
One's a maybe.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yimmy and I were talking about Pokemon because it was
super popular when he and I were in elementary school. Yeah,
so we used to like bring the cards to school
and he was like, yeah, I definitely had, like Easter
started a Pokemon trading ring. It's at his school, like
he was, okay, the grand master of the trading.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
It just straight with Yimmy. Yeah, he doesn't like Harry
Potter but loves the Pokemon. Something's not adding up here.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I don't know that he loved the Pokemon as much
as he just like loved orchestrating the trading. Loved trading
from an early age. Who would have thought for a
finance guy.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Oh okay, I see.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Like finding the cards that were like a good investment
was like that way you were thinking about that when
you were a kid.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
They are worth a lot of money if you find
some guy. I was that way with like baseball and
basketball and football cards. But yeah, if you get the
right ones. Hm, you say, where's some money?
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, some money, I hear you bet. Ninety three sports.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Pistons beat Indiana one twenty two to one seventeen. The
Red Wings lost to New Jersey four to three. You
of them played San Diego State yesterday in one ninety
to fifty four. ATSU played plays East Carolina today. Pregame
starts at noon. You can hear that on Big One
on one point three eight pm tonight, U of M
(05:08):
versus Auburn. That is on our sister station, Wood Radio.
