Speaker 1 (00:00):
Here are three things you should know today. Michigan health
officials have issued a new standing recommendation making COVID nineteen
vaccines available to all residents ages six months or older.
The FDA recently approved the twenty twenty five twenty six
vaccine for certain age groups if you had health risks,
but state officials are now saying anyone in Michigan is

(00:20):
considered eligible, So if you're looking for a COVID shot,
you can go and get it. Tens of thousands gathered
yesterday at State Farm Stadium in Arizona for the memorial
for Charlie Kirk. Speakers included President Trump, President or I'm Sorry,
Vice President Jade Vance, and other conservative leaders who called
Kirk a martyr and urged supporters to continue his mission. Kirkswidow, Erica,

(00:40):
gave an emotional eulogy and was announced as the new
leader of Turning Point USA. Today marks the first official
day of fall, and we love it because the leaves change,
it's beautiful, the hoodies come back out, pumpkin spice everything.
But psychologists say autumn is actually good for our mental
health health. Oh really, it triggers our brain's rewards center,

(01:03):
making us feel calm and nostalgic. Cooler air and shorter
days also bring some health perks. Easier outdoor activity and
better sleep routines.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
All those things sound amazing to me.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Happy fall. It arrives at two nineteen pm today. That's
three things you should know. Here's one you probably shouldn't.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
We're all turning into old people.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I'm just gonna say that right now, like like retired
senior citizens in our nineties, We're all turning into those.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
And it starts with gen z and millennials.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
The five o'clock dinner crowd is becoming more and more popular.
According to the Guardian, a growing number of young Americans,
particularly gen Z and millennials, are choosing early dinner times,
with five to six o'clock becoming very popular. Factors driving
this shift include health motivations, less alcohol consumption, work from

(01:56):
home flexibility, fitness focused lifestyles, and struggles to curing prime
restaurant reservations due to scalping. That last one, well, some
of those I guess I'm sort of on board with.
I've been trying to get healthier, so I do eat
a little bit earlier than I normally would. But also
we have a weird schedule.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Dinnertime is four pm in the early Bird apologies for
that early Bird special three Sports.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Tigers lost to the Guardians over the weekend. They lost
all three games, or excuse me, they played the Braves.
They played the Guardians tomorrow. That game though, that series
is very important because we are neck and neck with
the Guardians in our division and if we don't get
top of the division, we might not make the playoffs.
There is a number, I believe it's in the seven

(02:43):
to seven to eight range that we need to win
to clinch it. But it's still the variables. There's so
many of them that there is no specific number.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yet.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
There's an eighty one percent chance that the Tigers make
the playoffs this year. You of them versus Nebraska over
the weekend, they won thirty to twenty seven and you
lost to USC forty five to thirty one. Red Wings
preseason starts Tomile. The Red and White game yesterday. I
was it was this.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It was so cool. Yeah, that was the game of
Van Andel right.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah. It was the end of training camp for the
Red Wings and the Griffins hosted and it's also the
kickoff to the Griffins thirtieth anniversary season.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Nice yeah pictures video from that B ninety three dot
com Tigers play like I said the Guardians starting tomorrow,
but tonight Monday Night Football Allons versus Baltimore pregame starts
at seven ten pm. You can hear that on our
sister station, Big one A one point three

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
