Speaker 1 (00:00):
Here are three things you should know today. M DOT
says the stretch of one point thirty one through Grand
Rapids is like decades overdue for major upgrades. But the
price tag is the big problem here. Fixing congestion and
safety issues between Cherry and twenty eight streets could cost
more than five hundred million dollars now, we currently have
about one hundred million to work with, so we're four

(00:21):
hundred shorty. That means m DOT has me goanna need
to get creative. Non traditional funding options may need to
be explored, and more studies they're talking before any major
reconstruction can move forward. The Utah man charged in the
killing of conservative activists to Charlie Kirk, made his first
in person court appearance Thursday. He's been doing like zoom

(00:42):
like tella hearings. Is that a word Tella hearings. Prosecutors
confirmed they do plan to seek the death penalty in
this case. It was the first time where he was
there in person, and they had like specific rules for
cameras in the courtroom, like you can't show him coming
in or out, you can't show any of his family,
and you cannot show him in shackles. I think you

(01:03):
made this point earlier, but I think it's because they
haven't locked down a jury yet.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, they're all watching that and that could sway them
even just a little.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
So you know, some people with cameras did not mind
those rules, and now it has the judge rethinking whether
cameras are going to be allowed during this trial at all.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Interesting, holiday gifts costing a lot more this year, as
I'm sure we are all aware. Analysts are saying tariffs
it's about a twenty six percent jump of where we
were last year. Items like toys, headphones, air fryers, even
gaming consoles are more expensive this year, and they say
as a result, a lot of families are cutting back

(01:39):
or buying fewer.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Gifts this season.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Seems like a good time to mention that the B
ninety three Class of twenty twenty six guitar pol at
the intersection. Ah Yes, five artists one night, January fifteenth.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
A ticket is twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Bucks twenty dollars and.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
It's easy to wrap too. Yeah, that's three things you
should know. Here's when you probably we shouldn't.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
If you had to guess, Sally mac, what would you
guess is the top app for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Oh, top app.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I think you use TikTok It's top three, top four,
top the number one top app chat gpt ah yes, yes.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
My other guess was the calculator app. I guess technically
that's not an app, that's more of.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Just it's it's featuredals like it kind of like an app. Yeah,
on that for number two. This is for iPhone apps
of twenty twenty five. Threads really huh hmm uh.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
It was never funny enough to do Twitter threads well either.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Way, I don't I think it's threads is not what
Twitter is, so like, I don't think people are using
it like they're using Twitter even or x or whatever.
I don't thinks is the number one that they're number two?
Most downloaded?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Is there almost downloaded?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (03:07):
After that, is there a distinction between most downloaded and
most used? Because I got threads on my phone, but
I like never used that.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, yeah, that's a good point. There was a moment
where I didn't think it was last year. I thought
it was two years ago where you everybody was just
jumping on it right away because it was a brand new,
so you added threads and you got like a number
and like if you were earlier, like there was that,
but I hadn't heard anything after that, and my stuff
automatically goes to threads.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I think, honestly, I haven't opened it so long.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Number three is Google, number four, TikTok, WhatsApp after that,
Instagram's at number six, YouTube, Google Maps. I don't think
this is a very good list, not because that isn't correct,
but you're right because people, once you download an app,
you're not re downloading an app, so that takes away
from that statistic, right, and so like if you've already

(03:58):
downloaded it, like I think TikTok should be B number
one if it's like most used interesting, I don't know. Yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
I don't know that.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I fully subscribe to this list.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Google Gemini also on this list.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Did you see Instagram? There's an update.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I don't think it's available to everybody just yet, but
they are allowing up to twenty minute videos on Instagram now,
long form content.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
That's like a yeah, mini show, it could be huh
be downty three Sports red Wings lost to the Oilers
yesterday four to one. A lot happening this weekend. Pistons
play Atlanta. You could hear that tonight on our sister station,
