Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five point fifty six B ninety three Morning Show. I'm
Alli Mack Mike. Here are three things you should know today.
Heads up if you are in Caledonia. Planned power outage
is coming this weekend. Consumer's Energy says electricity is going
to be shut off eleven pm Tomorrow night Friday and
could stay out until about eight am on Saturday while
they make upgrades to a substation to improve long term reliability.
(00:24):
Colder storm this weekend means a lot of us in
West Michigan looking at a wintery mix, not just rain,
but it might do this back and forth stuff. If
we've seen the last couple weeks, a little bit of
snow and then a little bit of rain and then
back to snow, which could make travel a little bit tricky.
So if you are out and about this weekend, they're
saying Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon looking like the safest
(00:47):
windows to be on the roads. President Trump says he
wants to block big investors from buying single family homes,
arguing that houses should be for people and not for corporations.
It's probably a good idea, yes, He says. The move
is meant to make home ownership more affordable, and investors
clearly took notice. Major rental companies their stocks dropped after
(01:10):
the announcement. I don't know if they're like thinking, uh oh.
Obviously more details on this are needed, and they are
expected later this month when President Trump speaks at the
World Economic Forum.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
So instead of two billion, they have one billion.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Well I'm not sure. I'm not sure that's exactly how
it works. But you know, it'd be nice if when
you go to buy a house you stop getting beat
out by these like all cash offers, because these companies
are buying up all the houses.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, it's it's insane right now.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
And I think everybody kept thinking, oh, it's gonna go
back down, it's going to go, but I don't know
that it's gonna go too far.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I mean, it's gonna go. The interest rates might get
a little bit better.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah they got a little bit better. Yeah they went
down like a little tiny bit. But that's you know,
we need a couple other things to happen. That's three
things you should know. Here's one you probably should.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
It right about now.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Actually, within probably the next month or so, people are
going to be looking for sunshine and warm weather. And
according to a new report, these US cities are the
best cities to escape to based on the thirty major
US cities, they make winterfield the most comfortable. Instead of
focusing on just temperature, the rakings considered a mix of
(02:22):
factors like overall winter conditions, daylight hours from December through February,
cost of living in safety number one on that list.
You and I talked about this going there for a
Lions game yesterday. Miami, Florida is number one on that list.
An average of seventy one degrees and ten ten daylight
(02:44):
hours ten point three eight day late hours. Second on
that list, Honolulu, Hawaii, seventy five degrees average. Oh, I
like that, and ten and a half daylight hours there.
Or Florida's on here like four times. Orlando, Florida, Tampa,
Florida in at three and four. Vegas. Oh, that's another
great one. It's a little chillier there, but you have
(03:04):
about nine and a half daylight hours. Tucson, Arizona, Texas
a bunch of times, and then Georgia. So if you're
looking for sun, if you're looking for daylight, if you're
looking for somewhere to go for the next two months,
I get why people are snowbirds.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I get it, totally understand it. We're only it's only.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
January eighth, and I'm already like okay, and we haven't
even had.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
A bad winter.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Well okay, but today it's supposed to be like fifty,
Like we might see highs reach fifty degrees.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Okay, okay, that's a good way to look at it.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
And we might see a little bit of sunshine early
on today. I mean eventually, Yeah, we're eventually going to
see clouds in rain today. But yeah, for January, that's
a you know, it's pretty springy.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah, it hasn't been that. It hasn't been that bad.
I just of the Pop Pop Fish when it comes
to it comes to winter.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
See someone sent me a copy of that book.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
No, oh my god, yea, are you serious? My inlaws
just gave you one two oh my god.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
And it says on the cover here it's soon to
be a major motion picture. I might go see that
one in.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
The Pow Powfish in theatas.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
You let me know if you want a dramatic reading
of The Pow Powfish Leader.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Today, I think we absolutely it should be.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
You know, what, have you ever seen artists go in
and read like the Lama Lama song. You should get
country artists to come in here and sing the Pow
Pow fish.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Readish amazing B ninety three Sports.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Uh, the Pistons are on a streak right now. They
are dominating again. These are one of the things they
don't like to say too early, but they could go
all the way this year.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
They won yesterday one O eight to ninety three against
Chicago Griffins one as well UH three to two against
Texas MSU playing Northwestern today five thirty pm, which you
can hear on our sister station Big one on one
point three. And then Red Wings versus Vancouver tonight seven pm.
