Speaker 1 (00:02):
Skin Track. Another edition of things is traffic. Thank you,
Thank you, America, Thank you. I've mentioned this to you guys. Yesterday,
me and my wife and my daughter Maya loaded up
the car, took her to DFW Airport, went to Terminal
(00:23):
D the International Airport, and got her on a plane
headed to Italy. How about that for three weeks? This
is now. I remember being a certain age and thinking
at twenty I knew everything that was good. But man,
I've seen her get lost in Plano.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
So is this like.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Vacation studying abroad? So it's a combination. So my daughter,
you know, she didn't go to college. She went into
the workforce, and she'd saved up a ton of money.
She got into apartment leads. He was kicking ass on it.
She was kicking ass, was getting promotions all this stuff.
And you know, it's hard when you're eighteen, nineteen years
(01:09):
old and you're working six days a week and your
friends are partying at college. Right, And so she had
taken a job at a place and I felt like
they had misled her. And I was I'm pretty big
on no, no, no, you made a commitment. You gotta
grind it out. You got a worst case scenario, give
two weeks. You're not leaving until you find a new job.
(01:30):
But when I saw what this company was doing and
asking of her, I was like, I got no problem
with you bouncing turn in your two weeks. She'd saved
up a bunch of money and her best friend is
going to fashion school in Milan.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
So she was like, I can go.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I've saved all this money up, I can go live
in Italy with my friend for three months.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
I went three months.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Why don't we dip our toe in the water first
and see what the temperature of the water is before
we just do the plunge.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Right, Yeah, So.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
We agreed that she would go there and live with
her friend for three weeks. But even still, man, I
know she's twenty, but in my mind she is still
just a little girl, you know. And that was I
didn't want to be the overly protective dad.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
But the same time, I'm scared.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, and you you should be. And you don't own
a particular set of skills either. I don't, So if
chaos happens, you can't. Liam Neeson, this thing, I'll call
you dog basketball talk, Okay, I have a particular set
of basketball talk.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Skills.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I will call you and talk to you about the
Milwaukee Bucks until you kill yourself.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Well we'll that get her out of a jam, all right,
listen to the schedule. So she's there. She's already sent
us a video from where she's staying. Good, you know,
coming back, buddy, she went to Italy. Tell us about it.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
She ain't gonna want to come back. Christina can tell
you about it.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah, it's just gonna want to stay forever. It's gorgeous.
I didn't want to come back. But also I'm like
proud of her. She's brave to go there with just
her and her because if I didn't have Mike, and like,
we went with his brother and all them, and they
did all the navigating and stuff. So I literally just
ate and drank the whole time. Okay, So thinking about
that part and the money and like, it's it's a
(03:13):
completely different world over there, but it is gorgeous.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
So here's why I got a little more comfortable with it.
So her best friend's dad is from Italy. Oh, and
so they live in Allen, but he's like international businessman
and so she is staying at her best friend's aunt's
house today and so the way they have this worked out,
like they have a home base where she can keep
(03:37):
all her luggage and stuff, and then they'll go to
a beach town for three days and then come back.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
And then they take constantly rotating yes, wow, and.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Then they take a train to Rome for three days
and then they come back, and then halfway through the
dad has business there, so he shows up and he's
going to take him to dinner a few times. And
so it changed the way I felt about it. But
still I'm not joking. We are one month removed from
her getting lost in Plano, and we've talked about this
(04:06):
before on the show even, but it's like for the
younger generation, they have no idea about directions, they don't
know street names, they don't know what part of town
they live in. They just punch it into a thing
and they go and if there's bad cell reception or whatever,
they're suddenly lost and they're no longer on the planet.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
They're just screwed. And so I'm just like, Okay, she
can do this, and I want to be confident.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
You know, and build her up and let her go
take on the world and all those things.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
But dude, it's it's it's overwhelming.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yeah, I can't imagine. That's very scary, but it's yeah.
I can't even put myself in that position to think
about it, just because I've seen Liam Neeson come to
the rescue so many times.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Did that take place in Italy? Uh No, I don't
think so. Oh then she's fine, Yeah, she'll be okay.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Really, Ever, when I hear about it from them, it
sounds like the only thing negative about it is you
miss American pizza.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
No definite, I don't. No, infact, it ruins it. I
am worried.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Like Katie said, she may never want to come back.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
I mean, but you know what.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
To me, it's like if she determines I want to go,
Because originally she was like, oh, I can go get
a job as an OP pair over there. I was like,
you've never done that. You don't speak Italian. Why don't
you just go look around for a few weeks and
then see, you know, why, just get up and move
for three months. That's the other thing about youth, man,
(05:35):
you make some wild ass decisions with no context.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
So Anyways, she just turned twenty like a month ago.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Okay, this is right around the time you and I
dropped out of college to be rappers?
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Exactly? Why not stay in college and just see if
you can rap? Why do you have to drop out completely?
Speaker 2 (05:55):
What?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
All right?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Oh oh god, good lord.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Anyways, I'll give you guys updates because she's gonna be
gone for three weeks.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Excited for her.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I'm excited for to exit. She'll have fun, all right.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Coming up next, it's the Hollywood Shuffle which celebrities. Dad
has gone buck wild. We'll tell you next
