Speaker 1 (00:00):
All Cowboy surprise.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
All right, Cowboys forty four Commanders twenty two. Now, on Friday,
we told you that Trayvon Diggs would not be playing
because he suffered an accident at his house and he
had concussion symptoms or he was in concussion protocol. So
he was out and didn't play, and the Cowboys win. Now,
before we talk about what that might have meant on
the field and the defense getting some stops and things
(00:38):
like that, Jerry was asked about this after the game.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
If you'd like to hear a little snippet of that.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Well, we always I don't want to say that we
didn't miss it out there.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
No, that's not fair.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
But that was crazy. You know, that was a flute
situation that certainly I'm not expecting Traymond to be outline.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
So you learned what exactly happened.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Well, I don't. I don't know that the combination of
the injury and how it impacted his regarding concussion issues,
I'm not so sure that I know the detail of
how that happened.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Okay, good or straight by him, because he could have
said it like he knows, I have a question.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
We don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
I mean, I thought Jerry would kind of old man
that thing and tell everyone what happened.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
But it's still that's one of those things where if
we were to go in there and diagram that sentence,
our brain would bleed. How come he just can't say, well,
concussion protocol, there's privacy, we can't talk about it, but
we know like that that's a five second answer. He
turned it into a minute and a half or whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Because she's like eighty five.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, yeah, that's eighty five. It is such a bizarre one, man.
It is one of the most bizarre injuries in the
history of DFW sports, and it is there is so
much mystery around it, Like I don't understand why you
can't just say what happened.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
If it's nothing, If it's just as simple as man
playing with the kid and I bonked my head, you
know you can say that.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Probably it's embarrassing. It's also whatever it is, it's embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
He also said that he would get the game check
and they do expect him to play next week.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
But what what would it have been like was he
playing like basketball in the driveway and fell and hit
his head, Like I can't even imagine how you but
how do you get a concussion at your home?
Speaker 3 (02:41):
The shower thing seems pretty pretty likely.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yeah, that's a good point. We talked about this too
with zac Efron. Remember his feet slid out from underneath
him near a pond inside or a water fountain inside
his house.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah. I don't believe that though either.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
But yeah, can I can I play this last part
because it there's something here.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
But the way I would if there had been an
injury on the field, Jerry, we normally would see that
on TV. We could see how injury happens, and in
this particular case, it was a home I'm not unrecorded.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
So he hasn't told you what happened.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Oh he said what happened. But again and I'm not
saying that didn't happen. Well, but a lot of times
you're not the best viewer of what happened to you.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Oh he said what happened.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
I'm not saying that didn't happen, but you're not the
best viewer of what happened to you. So it sounds
like Jerry doesn't believe what Dravon said, especially considering their
very recent history.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Oh yeah, Jerry hates him.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
It could have been like his kid actually hit him
in the head with a bat or something, goofing off
or like what. I don't even understand how that could happen.
A little cute kids from hard enough.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
Yeah, my kid's probably like eight or nine now, he
might be a jerk.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, Like, I guess you almost got a concussion one
time when a speaker fella, yeah, on your head.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
We were at a party in high school and a
speaker that was mounted up just like these speakers are
mounted up here in the studio. It fell down and
I got lucky. The corner of it hit the side
of my head and my shoulder at the same time.
It wasn't a direct speaker, otherwise it might have killed me.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yeah, but it.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Hit my shoulder in my head at the same time.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
That's all I can think of. Maybe a shower slip
or something like that.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
But I think it was sexual.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
I think he did some wild maneuver and lost balance
and hit his head.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
And told Jerry that Jerry would have believed him if
he told him sexual parking lot.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Did you buy a swing brand I told you to buy?
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Was the playmaker there? All right?
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, it's it's we'll find out, because like he's gonna
probably play next week. And I think that's the whole
thing is like should he because some things happened yesterday that.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Were pretty good.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Did they play more man yesterday?
Speaker 3 (04:51):
They did?
Speaker 5 (04:52):
That's what he want.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
But Shody said they had the analytics that broke it
down and it was like Jadeen Daniels like is better
again against zone than he is man. In fact, all
quarterbacks are. Yeah, especially that's just wide open area. You
just pick guys apart. I think completion percentage wise, it's
like sixty nine percent against zone, forty eight percent against man.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
So they players man.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
They also did a bunch of crap like on the
defensive line, like to stop the run, like they were
like running twist and.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Yeah, that's like, but also you can, like you can
play a lot more man when the receivers aren't I
mean they were, Washington was very thin.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah at receipt Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:31):
So you can play man and load up against the run.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Well, we'll see if Trayvon's back next week. But I
also think we need to talk about something here. Everyone
loved dan Quinn. Everyone wanted Dan Quinn to be the
head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I'll tell you how
he got out coached.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Yesterday next Ben and Skin Show ninety seven point won
the Eagle. Ben. You went to Nate Bargatzi on Saturday?
Did you not?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (05:54):
I did?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
It was awesome.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Did you guys see that? He said a record here
in town. Really over the weekend, fifty three thousand, seven
hundred and nine people went and saw Nate Bargatzi because
he did two sold out shows Saturday and a sold
out show Friday night. And that is a record at
the AAC for highest grossing comedy tour to come through
(06:17):
the AAC. Okay, yeah, so I don't know the last
time someone sold out three nights at the AAC. He
just did two in one day. I know Garth Brooks
did it, Okay, but he did. He was doing two
shows a night because he did four nights. Eight chick gotcha? Gotcha?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Okayre like Vegas weirdly, but think.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
About that a comedian came through and drew fifty three
almost fifty four thousand people.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
It was amazing and watched the whole thing like you know,
all the stand up you know, original guys, the open
the openers and whatnot. They were all great and there
wasn't one cussword.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
I'm having dinner with some people last night and they
went to the show and we're talking about that.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Who uh open do you remember?
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Oh? I don't remember their names. One of them was
the guy I think we know for whatever it's worth.
The people I was with were saying that those are
comedians that are underneath him, almost like a record label,
like he managed, or like they're part of his entertainment company.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Here.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
There was one guy who's from here, and I swear
I think we've had him on our show before.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Paul Vargize, Derek Stroup, Mike Veccioni, Mike James, Steven Rogers,
Keith Albertstrant, Aaron Weber.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Mike James played for the Mavericks for a little while,
one guy hosted, and I think there was three guys
that opened, maybe three, but they were all hilarious. It
was great. All right, let's talk some Dallas Cowboys. KT
tell us how Dan Quinn got out coached well.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Given the fact that they were down their top two
wide receivers, you think they might adjust the way they play.
And what's the one thing you feel like you can
do against the Cowboys If you have the ball, run
you can absolutely run the ball. And man, maybe this
is just because the Cowboys got the ball and scored
and it was seven to nothing, but then you have
to remember the Cowboys got a stop and then had
a safety. Yeah, so it was seven to two and
(07:57):
then Washington scored against Washington did have the lead. Like
the first quarter was a long, It was like an
hour long, but Washington was winning there for a little
bit early the first quarter. And I just think it
says a lot about an inability to adjust from them
and the Cowboys. We talked about just a little bit
ago how they kind of adjusted some things on defense. Dude,
(08:19):
if you're playing the Cowboys the Cliff Kingsbury style of
doing things, which is go fast and like change what
you're doing and just run the ball, the best way
to beat the Cowboys is to have seven minute drives
like the Panthers did to you to end the game
last week, because you can run.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Washington never even tried.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
To run the ball yesterday because it kind of turned
into a shootout really quick, and it was seventeen to
eight before you knew it.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
They didn't really try to run the ball that much yesterday.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
And I just think it's another sign of like we
might have the right people here defensive coordinator. Wone know
we're all questioning that, but like Shoddy, I think should
get credit for that. Dude, Dan Quinn and Cliff Kingsbury
are people we wanted here, and then Shody outmaneuvered them yesterday.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Don't you think though, that when they did run the ball,
the Cowboys did a pretty damn good job of stopping it.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Yeah. I think there was five plays that were like
behind the line of script.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, man, I'm I can't believe how much I like Shoddy.
I just it's so great to have an offense that
is innovative, that's hard to stop. You know, you can't
even get to Dak. You're not gonna sack him. He's
not turning the ball over. Guys are running down the
field wide open. He's putting the ball right on the
money and shot. He deserves so much credit. The other
(09:33):
thing is I hear him get interviewed on the fan
quite a bit, and he has got to be one
of the most likable coaches of all time, which was
another reason why I was worried that he wasn't going
to be good because in my mind, like these coaches
who are jerks all the time.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Yeah, usually those are the better coaches.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
He could not be more likable or friendly in these interviews.
I mean, he's just seems like a prince of a man.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
I think everyone likes him.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
He's real likable, and you know, I think there it
says a lot, you know, to grow in pro football.
He grew up in pro football. So the other thing
I was thinking about, not that I would ever advocate
for this because it's not smart, but I did think
yesterday about the Jason Garrett approach of winning the coin
flip and still starting with the ball to try to
(10:18):
set a tone with this particular Cowboy team going out
and scoring a touchdown in three minutes or whatever it is.
It's a tone setter. And if they had not pinned
them back there on the one yard line, I bet
it would have been fourteen nothing in an eyeblink.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
And by the way, I think you're right, why did
they the Cowboys on their own one yard line have
a play where they tried to have their backup tight
end block the best defensive tackle in football.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Okay, don't love that?
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Okay, hold on, It's one thing to like second guess
after the fact. I don't know what you guys were
sitting there thinking. I was sitting there thinking, you don't
run it up the middle against the Redskins, I mean
with pain in there, like, you don't do that, And
that was a delayed hand on right, do something different there,
You just try to pick up two yards to whoever
in the flat right.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Would you guys think quick strike? Would you guys think
about the sun yesterday?
Speaker 5 (11:07):
It was God, it was it was bright.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I mean it didn't really impact the game, but you
saw people squinting. You saw how irrationally bright it was
at certain times.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Hey, listener, send me a photo because because some people
were like, maybe the sun's not as bad as the
media makes it. After when Deron Blam got that interception, Yeah,
he fought the sun and got it.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Here's just a fan at the game yesterday. Those end
zone seats.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
He can't see.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
The field, Dude, these are good seats too. He's like
fifteen or twenty rows up. You can't see the field.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Do you guys remember? Does this become lesser of a
problem after daylight savings time?
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah, because it'll be earlier this I'll be down earlier. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
It was a big deal yesterday for really the entire
second half the the only.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
We've talked about this. Jerry is so stubborn and so
idiotic on this. I think the only way they would
do something about it is if every player after every
game said it is stupid that we have to deal
with this, Like if it was such a chorus of
people that are on the field saying, only an idiot
would let that sun shine through the window.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
It's fan abuse to those looking at it.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, you're paying, you're paying to sit in those amazing
seats and you can't even see, you know, the second half.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Of the game. God, he can't admit that he made
a mistake. All right, There you have it.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Shoddy out coaches dan Quinn, and it was glorious. Coming
up next, it's the weekly weekday update. State Fair attendance
numbers were down. We'll discuss next
