and it's happening in exactly thirty minutes. Tell your friends,
your homies, your cell mates. Let's get this cook in
the Today Game, never to be missed on the Ben
and Skin Show. Coming up here in a bit. Christina

(00:22):
was at the mav game last night. We'll talk about
her experience, but also so was Ben Rogers, who was
sitting on the front row with his daughter Grace at
last night's MAVs of victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
They finally got a dub.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
They're now one and two, and Ben, you have an
eyewitness account from the scene.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, it was a friend of mine.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Friend of ours has those tickets right there, right next
to the MAVs bench.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
There's only four better seats.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
I guess if those seats are closer, but I actually
like his seats because they have a the the news
desk in front of it or whatever, the scores table.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
So anyways, we're sitting there right at the edge of
that and uh, it's where all the players come get
breath mint or vasoline or Lotion's a date. Yeah, and uh,
it's it's all just sitting out there right in front
of us, and it's it was those seats are stupid awesome.
So you just great. I went with my daughter and
we had a great time. But so I did witness

(01:19):
something by the way Skin came over and visited with us.
And when players would come over, they all know Skin,
so they'd say hi to Skin and Skin introduced us.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
It was all really cool. Thank you for that. That
was it was really special, easy to do.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
It's just nice of those guys. I mean, you can
just see how likable all.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
These players are so likable, ye, like just regular guys.
And so Ad is on a different level though, right.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
He is one of the biggest stars in the history
of the.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
NBA, five number one pick, NBA champion, five time All
NBA player. So I don't have a relationship with Ad.
Have you had any time with him? I think he
has no idea who I am.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Okay, so I don't. I don't have a connection with
him or anything.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
And obviously he's catching a lot of flag because he
was the main bring back in the Luca trade. Right,
so people are automatically mad at him, and it's not
his fault, right, And he's injured a lot, but when healthy.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
He is a monster. He so freaking good.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah, And so anyways, I don't really have a good
frame of reference for who he is and what he's like,
and so I've in my mind, I've built up this thing, uh,
maybe he's a prima donna or whatever. And I witnessed
him do something last night that made me really like
him a lot.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Let's go. So he has to wear these protective eye goggles.
Now his eye is still all bloody and red. You
can tell he's been through hell with that eye.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, he had surgery on it, and he's got to
wear these protective goggles for the rest of his career, right.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
And it was kind of like later in the off
season that he had it. And so there's a lot
of talk about him quote unquote being out of shape.
The man had eye surgery. So yeah, you know, it happens.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
So he every time he comes out, he takes the
goggles out and he sets him down by that vasoline
and lotion and breath mint on.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
The scores table.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
And every once a while MAVs personnel member will some
MAVs employee will come clean them off for him, make
sure there's no sweat drops on him.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And they're crystal clean, crystal clear.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
And so he every time he comes out of the game,
he sets the goggles down, He goes and sits down,
he comes back into the game, he comes and picks
up the goggles.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I mean, maybe he doesn't want to get him covered
in sweat, like if he put him on his shirt,
and he doesn't want to keep wearing him.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
He's it's become less and less. But early on he
was messing with him constantly.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, take him off right when he go to the bench. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
So sitting right next to us, was right next to
my daughter, were a couple of younger boys, I want
to say they were thirteen ish, maybe fourteenish, and they
were sitting in the seats that were right directly next
to the MAVs bench. And so later in the game,
I mean, the game is it's a pretty intense game,
and they're really all into it and they're competing and

(03:47):
all that, and he comes and I just love a
professional athlete who understands the magic of sports and what
it means to children. And so here this young kid
is and he can't His eyes are so wide, just
like our are, like I can't believe we're sitting here.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
This is the coolest thing ever.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
And Anthony Davis when he walks by, instead of he
comes out of the game, instead of putting them on
the scores table, he hands them to the kid.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Ah.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
He doesn't say anything, He just hands them the goggles
and keeps wie and the kid just reactionary reached out
and took them.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
It was there was no communication.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
It was just here's my goggles, and he just kept
it was like he had been doing it his whole life.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
And that exchange was amazing. And then this.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Kid was like, uh, there's a security guy right behind
the kid, and the kid goes, do I hold these
the gag go ahead and put them on the table.
And so the security guy had him put him on
the table, put the goggles on the table. And all
this time passed while ad was out of the game,
and then when it was time for him to come
back in the game, he walks back by and playfully

(04:45):
holds his hand out to the kid, like, give me
my goggins. A good bit, but they were and he
knew they were already on the table, but he was
just having fun with the kid, like, hey man, you're
my goggle guy.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Where are they? It was never spoken, he never said
a word.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
It was just this playful and interaction with a kid
who's at a game, and I probably gave him a memory.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
For the rest of his life. And it was so special.
I was like, I love that dude.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Now that's awesome. I really wish that kid had put
those goggles on.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Right right. I mean, what a unique car.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I've always said this, if you're sitting on the front
or second row and the ball comes to you, you're
crazy if you don't stand up, take a dribble and
launch a shot, Like, what a unique opportunity to take
a shot in an arena when the whole arena is
maybe TV is watching you. You didn't run out on
the court the ball came to you.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Wouldn't they kick you out?

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I don't know, but I think they was the ball
came to you. No one's instructed you what to do.
One dribble and launch. I mean, everybody would go crazy
or you know, you're probably gonna airball it. But the
whole point is, what a unique opportunity shoot your shot.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
But I think you'd get kicked out.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Like I'm sitting there looking at the breath, mits, what
if I need a little vasoline?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
What if I need a little lotion in game vasoline
for you?

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Of course, Why that's awesome. I love here.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Ad could do a running silent bit with every MAVs
fan who's still upset about the train we might ourselves
in New City.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
It was classy, dude, it was really cool. That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I love it all right, Christina, what's coming up next
in the music news?

Speaker 2 (06:13):
So you guys have heard this song a thousand times,
but do you really know it? I'm gonna quiz you
guys next
