Two very big music deaths that we'll get to in
a minute, But first, Big Ben Rogers went to a
show this weekend. Of all the people on this show
that you could see making a trip out to a
big show, Ben would be last because he lies furthest
away And he went Saturday night to the American Airline
Center to see very famous comedian Shane Gillis.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yeah, that dude is funny. Oh my god, he is hilarious.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
I think he does the best Trump impersonation of anyone
I've ever heard.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
I mean, I mean, it's better than James Austin Johnson.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
I mean his his epic maybe his is better. But
did you see Shane Gillis when he was on SNL.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I did, so. He had it pretty good. He's got
it down, he's got it down.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
He knows who sucks is Alec Baldwin bald I'm so
glad he's not out there doing that anymore.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah it sucked. Yeah, it sucks so bad. I don't
even remember it. Yeah, Lake Dish today, I hate him?
Oh yeah right, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Yeah, So went out with the Normans, the Sweet Normans. Yeah,
Tyler from Happy Dad and his sweet wife Camden, the
one actually boom cup.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
To that time.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yes, helly, And so we went down there and man
had the most fun. We went and ate at Komodo. Oh,
I told you about that spot Kmoto, one.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Of the best places, one of the top dragons.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
And the GM there knows you. You spoke at his
grandfather's funeral. Yes, you talk about the great Pierce Jones. Yes,
wonderful dude.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
And he's got a lot of restaurant. I didn't know
that's where he was now, but he's been at a
lot of good places. So if he's there, it's good. Yes,
I mean, I'm sure it's good. Regardless what I'm saying.
He runs a good spot. You're exactly right. He is
like one boy, uh, And I'm not he's wondering.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
He's a man. He's wonder boy saying. To be so
young and to be in charge of so many like
he is in the hospitality industry, he's already like a legend.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
People know him as like the chosen one.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I think he's like he either he he's either right
out of college or just said screw it and didn't
finish and went right into the business. Because I remember
he went off to college. But he's yeah, he's he
does a great job. And and his his dad was
in the hospitality business, so he knows it.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
And so we went and had dinner there, phenomenal dinner.
It was just incredible. And uh, then we went over
to the AAC took your advice. Parked in that Comerica
garage there, and my wife decided not to take a
jacket with her, and so did you have a comment
about that.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Well, that way when she gets inside, she didn't have
to go jacket off right, Yeah, and NIPPLEI out there,
but it was so cold outside and we got there
was a huge line to get in, and dude, that
place was packed sold out.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
It was.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
And it wasn't just hey, let's block off part of
the arena. It's let's put a stage at center court
and do the whole place nice.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Oh so they probably drew nineteen or twenty.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I sold out pretty early on too.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
It was packed to the hilt and so uh we're chilling,
uh waiting for it to start, and it was Shane
gillis pretty casual dude. He gets on the mic and
he's like, uh, hey, uh, do me a favorite nobody
record this tonight or I'll have to come up and
kill you. But I think in the past a lot
(04:36):
of times they take phones from people all these things.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, I mean they're always actually a stand up to
me is, hey, you can't do that, Like it's kind
of a known thing.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Yeah, because they make their money going around the country
doing tour dates, right, and so if the same the
same thing, and so if the whole it's already out there,
like I wouldn't have gone, I wouldn't have driven all
the way the ac to watch him do one of
his specials that I've already seen.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah. Right. And so.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
This guy James McCann. Have you guys heard of him.
He's an Australian community.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Don't think Wait, he had a cup of coffee here, right,
maybe always in a trade rumor here?
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, okay, I thought we had a catcher that can
for a while a half. He is an Australian comic
and he came out.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
And murdered It was awesome.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Did he speak English or Australian? He spoke Australian, Yeah, okay,
thick Australia. Did they have a translation of top of
Okay you just read Yeah, I hate subtitles.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Right, Ky, And then Skins guy Tony Hinchcliffe came out,
Oh dude, all right, and nobody knew who was gonna open,
Like I think he has different guys open in different markets,
and so it just popped out, and dude, he said
some of the most shocking things, like I couldn't even
believe I think that's his bit, rightchcust a while because
he'll just openly be racist, and like, yeah, he doesn't.
(05:53):
It was like, what is like, I can't even believe
you said that, but it's almost like just saying that
to try to say that, he's trying to shock everyone,
like trying to trying to get canceled that type of thing. Right,
It's I dare you to cancel me, right, I'll be come,
he wrote. Once you strike me down, I'll have more
power than you could have ever imagined. Uh So, I'm
(06:13):
not super familiar with him and kill Tony. I have
seen Shane Gillis do stuff with him before, but uh
I was not very I knew that that dude was
controversial and I wasn't expecting him to be there.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
But the other guy was the better of those two.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
The Australian fan Mite Australian guy murdered it, and then
Shane Gillis came out and it was just brilliant.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Man, it was a It was an epic. I'm so
glad I went.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
It seemed really natural and conversational, like it was just
the all the time flew by. Towards the end, he
was like, yeah, hey, we're, you know, getting ready to
wrap this up, and I was like, really, like you
could have. I felt like he could have gone for
even another thirty minutes.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It was so good. How long was the show? Oh gosh,
he did? He does an hour?
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Okay, yeah, so so you're probably there two hours. The
other guy probably did that thirty probably The other ones
were real quick, but DJ Shippy played music in between.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
I didn't see Shippy there. I guess it's possible, but
he did. He did tell a story that I'll I'll
share with you. I can't share all the details of
it because even if I tried to modify it, I
don't think I could do it in a way that
could be said on an FM radio.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Now gay, we'd have to. It is hard to review
stand up comedy shows.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
You gotta the jokes or something.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
But he finished with this story and he's he's said,
I can't remember the age that he was at. I
think I want to say he was ten to twelve
years old and his dad was going to take them
to a Notre Dame game.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
And so he took him and all of his buddies.
And that's so irish for a guy named Shane Gillis, right,
Jack a Notre Dame fan. So he's going to take.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Him and like eight of his buddies and brothers and
friends or whatever. And so they got a giant van
with like rows of seats on it, you know, like
that almost like a school bus, and they were going
to load it up and take it to go watch
this Notre Dame game. And he said, he goes, this
is kind of the thing back then, he's like, our
(08:13):
dad at the last minute just invited one of his friends.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
And it was just a guy that he got drunk
with at the bar. He really didn't know.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
He didn't know the guy very well, and he asked him, like,
last minute, Hey, I'm going tomorrow. I'm taking these boys
down to the notary game game. Do you want to go?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Everything about this is so irish And so he goes.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
He goes, all right, so we're all getting ready, we're
all excited to leave and go get in this dumb
bus thing and you know this van, and our dad
tells us, why I'm waiting for my friend what's his
fred or whatever from the bar. They're like trying to understand,
like you invited a guy for the bar or whatever.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
And he goes.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
The guy was an hour late, and instead of waiting inside,
they waited in the van. And so everyone is waiting
in the van for the strange man that they didn't
know to get there. That's just a guy that drank
with the dad, and so he goes. By the time
that guy got there, we hated him. Everyone in the
car hated his guts. And so they drive all the
(09:12):
way to get to the game or whatever, and they
like dropped the kids off on campus and all right,
we're gonna go hit a bar. And so the kids
were just wandering around the campus. The dads went to
a bar.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Wonderful. Then they came back, picked up the kids.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Took him to a very small motel and he said
that to get a deal, like he told them that
they were special needs kids, and so he to get
a discount for some church something and so and so
they got a special discount on their room, and then
they dropped the kids off at the room and then
they all went back to the bar.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
The dad and they go back to the bar. And
so at some point in the night.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
All the kids are are just there, you know, in
this room by themselves, and they bring back the guy
who was late that all the kids hated, and they
had to carry him back. He was so drunk. Apparently
got kicked out of the bar they were at, and
so they brought him in and just threw him down
on one of the bed and went back to the bar. Okay,
so now all these kids are in this room with
(10:13):
this guy and he goes. It started with the one
kid walking over like poking him with a stick, and
then one kid comes over and kind of slaps him
and he goes, and pretty soon we were doing wrestling moves,
we were coming up and elbowing him, you know, and
he wouldn't wake up, and he goes. We knew he
was alive because he would go, he'd make his gut
(10:34):
rolls out, but he never woke up. He never, he
never woke up the whole time, and kids just took
turns putting wrestling power moves.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
On this step people's elbow. Yeah, and uh.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Now there are some other parts of the story that
I will tell you in a commercial break.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Ah nice that I will think that I think you
will enjoy.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
But afterwards, uh, we went over to Hero Oh yeah,
which that place is awesome.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Great spot right there off the plaza. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
So so we went over there and uh and had
a blast over there, and then we uh drove back
out to uh to Prosper and went to a brand
new bar there, the Tavern on Broadway, which is a
new bar out there, uh and Prosper and you know
it's it's cool because it's a brand new bar, but
it's a dive barky. The dive bar specifically has a
(11:26):
vibe like the place Julie used to take us too.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Are you about Mike's Gemini?
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Yeah, yeah, those spots those bars are really cool that yeah,
you know, kind of dive bar style.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
They have to earn it, though, you have to earn
being a dive bar. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
There's one place I'm not gonna say their name, I'll
be quick here in one place in Dallas, and they
call themselves a dive bar and they're just full of influencers.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Oh really, And I'm.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Like, you guys might need to take dive bar out
of Like there needs to be a hole in the bathroom,
some cigarettes and the stall. There's to be a hole
in there. All the glory hole, Kevin, Yeah, big part
of a dive bar. Really can have a glory all right,
gotta have it. I don't know that you have to
have a glory hole on the checklist. It certainly makes
(12:11):
it more interesting. Got a checklist. It's just kind of
sleep in the corner underneath the dartboard. That's a dive bar.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
I think you're getting dive bar confused with a gay bar. Ah.
So yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
The next thing I want to go to is uh
Nate Barghetsi is that how he pronounce the name of Barghetti?
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Yep?
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Sold out too, probably?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yeah, And he's playing the American Airlines Center in October.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
And I think I missed that one. I think it's Oh,
is it sold out? It's already happened.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
That guy hity great. I got a clip from his
new special that I'll play at four thirty today. Oh,
a small clip, A small clip with a p Yeah,
at four four.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
All right, all.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Right, there you have it. There's my fantastic good stuff.
Shaine Gills was.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
A lot of good stop. All right.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Coming up next and around the sports we get back
into the big news of the day. Mike McCarthy is
out as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
That is next
