“Is it possible that narcolepsy is contagious?” That’s the question that kicks off a hilariously unhinged and deeply relatable episode of The Ben and Skin Show, where sleep disorders, Cowboys nostalgia, and caffeine-fueled chaos collide. In this hump day edition, Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina “K-Ray” Ray dive headfirst into a whirlwind of topics that range from the absurd to the oddly profound. Ben opens up about his brutal battle with sleep apnea and the existential dread of waking up before your alarm—only to be ambushed by a racing mind and a tanker of coffee. KT, ever the night owl, shares his 3:30 a.m. “shameful activities,” while Skin wonders aloud if narcolepsy might be contagious. The crew also teases their full review of Netflix’s new docuseries “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys”, with early reactions to Jerry Jones’ wild early days, including his $30,000-a-day losses and a switchboard operator who may or may not have kept her job based on looks alone.

(01:33):
and his Cowboys Netflix docu series officially went live yesterday
and it is glorious. We reviewed episode one today in
the five o'clock hour. We'll review episode two. And I
concluded my evening last night making sure to get through
those first two episodes and we'll save reviewing it. But

(01:54):
this factors into the first thing I have to talk
about because I suffer from sleep BATNYA, and I'd like
to get the table here is the number one person
on the show who deals with sleep. Thank you for
your sacrifice, Ben, Thank you Kat, if you could just
stay at stand down. Uh No, Kat, obviously, uh suffers

(02:16):
from way more significant sleep issues that I'm dealing with.
But I have I have sleep apnea pretty bad. But
I can't sleep with the mask on. I just can't
do the Darth Vader mask, and so I wake up
a million times every day. I'm thinking about getting that surgery.
I think it's called Inspire, and I'm thinking about having
a surgery where I get I guess, let me perform

(02:38):
a surgery on you. I think it's just that I
think they just do something surgically and then you don't
have to wear the mask.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I'm not sure. I need to look into that AI
stuff that they're working on. Really, they're claimbing will cure
everyone's sleep.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Issues in the next few years. You can say that
for anything. There's some stuff they're working on that's going
to cure and then fill in the blank.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
You're right, But there's like it was actually a story
this morning because this guy's making their rounds.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Hawking as product fred Atnea.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Yeah, So I I struggle with sleep at me and
what I've noticed here this has really started since school
started again. I want to be up in the morning
and see my kids and interact with them before they leave,
you know, And so I wanted to get up early.
So much easier just to sleep through all that, but
I want to be up and be present for that,
and so I set my alarm to get up and

(03:26):
be up with the kids while they get ready to
go to school and then are out the door, because
I know I don't have many of those days left,
you know, one as a senior and one as a freshman.
And so lately I've been beating my alarm. I wake
up before my alarm goes off, and I've realized that
I have so much on my brain that at the
minute I am awake at all. If my brain locks

(03:47):
onto any thought, I'm wide awake.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
It's super fun, isn't it? Okay for me? Man?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah, like the minute, Like I.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Used to be able to you just like have you
know you wake up and then you just go back
to sleep. Yeah, I can't. Now I'm wide awake if
that happens. And so I thought it was sleep apnea,
and so man, like the last few nights, I've maybe
slept two hours each night, three four hours maybe tops.

(04:20):
And so last night when I got home, I was like, man,
I'm going to pass.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
The f out.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
This is gonna be great. And my wife goes, do
you want to watch America's Team? I was like, hell, yes,
all right, let's go. And she looks over at me.
She goes, You're gonna be asleep in like five minutes, right,
and I'm like yep. But I made it through two
full episodes, and at the end of that I was like,
all right, I am out, and I couldn't go to sleep.
It was the opposite of sleep apnea. I didn't sleep

(04:45):
last night. I think I maybe slept for an hour
thirty minutes last night.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Irony of this is that's a small plot line in
one of the first two episodes, I remember which one,
but when Jerry was losing thirty thousand dollars a day,
yeah about yeah, yeah, I had heart rhythm. Yeah. I
don't know what the real conditions are called because he
doesn't pronounce. He doesn't finish pronouncing any of it. He
said that he had to borrow money. Yeah, say that.

(05:12):
I'm good at bori money man.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
When he's younger and talking and his face is making
all those expressions. Look at that first press conference, It's like, man, this.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Is a caricature.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
This is crazy.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
It really is crazy. I feel bad that. I mean,
I still want to talk about all this now, we'll
save it for later. But so yesterday KT played audio
of the first episode, and we hadn't seen it yet,
only Kat had seen it. So when I was watching
the first episode, I was thinking about all the audio
we had heard earlier in the day, and the scene
where there's the gal working the switchboard and she had

(05:43):
taken whatever twelve hundred calls before noon, and they showed
her on camera I was like, there's no way Jerry
fired her.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Yeah, she's very attractive. I thought the same thing, she's
pretty Yeah, so.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
What do I do?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
What do you do?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (05:59):
What do I do?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I stopped that tanker right there, A homie I took.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
I took two melatonins, two big giant melatonins, Like it
was like twenty grams of melatonins. Still could not go
to sleep. I did not go to sleep last night.
And I think that's your biggest issue. Right there, I'm
pointing to a tinker of coffee. That's well an issue.
I drink a bottle of wine. That helps me. Yeah,
I drink probably half as much coffee as I used to. Good,

(06:24):
So I don't drink that much coffee. I'll probably have
one of these today and that's it.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
That's good.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
So it's not that I don't I don't know what
it is, but I've got to figure it out because
you can't live like this, right, Kevin.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
You can live like this. It's just your walking health issue. Yeah,
and it leads to a lot of nefarious deeds happening
at about three thirty am every night. Oh like what
so much shameless activity? I mean, no shameful activity. I
don't know, Just like I gotta go organize some stuff.
I can't sleep, so I might as well do something else.
So I'm just quietly tiptoeing around my house doing work.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
What are you a librarian?

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Kind of am because I don't want to look my
wife up?

Speaker 5 (06:59):
But is is it possible that your narcolepsy is like
contagious ages?

Speaker 1 (07:04):
It is contagious. You guys are gonna start having jokestrokes soon. Oh,
that would be great to turn that on someone else.
You're the only human I've ever seen that has it. No, dude,
I don't know if I know anybody else that has
a narcolepsy. Man, I don't really know in person. Yeah,
I mean you probably do. They just don't know they
have it. And treat my guess like me, Do I

(07:27):
have it? Yes, it's a guess. No, you don't have it?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
All right?

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Your wife might have it?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Okay, that's weird, all right, get there.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
I don't know I'm a zombie. But we're off and running.
We got a great show planned for you. We'll get
into the Custs and the cowboys stuff, America's team, The
Gambler and his Cowboys, in the five o'clock hour. We
also have Troy Aikman audio about the Micah Parsons situation
that's coming up at four fifteen, The Hollywood Shuffle, a
new prank you can steal from this celebrity coming up
at three thirty. But what's coming up next in things
Skin is tracking.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
I want to talk about a legendary place in the DFW,
and I think I have a reason to get Ben
out there.
