"What happens when Bruce Bochy finally loses his cool—and Luka Doncic signs with the Lakers?"In this electric episode of The Ben and Skin Show, Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray serve up a sizzling mix of sports drama, pop culture absurdity, and laugh-out-loud moments that only this crew can deliver. The guys break down a frustrating 1-3 series in Seattle, including a rare moment of fire from the usually unflappable Bruce Bochy. After Adolis García failed to slide into second base in a crucial ninth-inning moment, Bochy didn’t hold back. Plus, Luka Doncic signs a 3-year, $165M deal… with the Lakers. The guys unpack the implications, including the sneaky genius of Luka’s player option timing and the conspiracy theory that he’s helping the Mavs by tanking the Lakers’ pick.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Now it's around the sports KGD con queens as all
the sports.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Yes, thanks Daven.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
The Rangers had four in Seattle over the weekend. They
went one in three, should have been two and two.
They had a three to two lead Friday night. They
put in Robert Garcia to close the game and he
gave up a walk off home run. They fought hard
on Saturday though, ended up sneaking out a win. That
was extra innings, right, extra innings, snuck out a win.

(00:34):
Merril Kelly was their picture. He's awesome, that they guy
they trade for.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
He's great.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's o very hard, but he's like mixes it up good.
He was fun.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
I just happened to see a thing yesterday because I
was slipping around right before the Phillies Detroit Sunday night game,
and they were talking about the best change up pitchers
in baseball and they had Meryl Kelly listed as one
of the five best.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
He's really good.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
And then yesterday they had a chance in the ninth
they needed to run. De Grom got rock and I
don't know, it's just kind of been a bad stretch
for him. It might be good to give him maybe
a start off maybe.

Speaker 6 (01:06):
Oh yeah, I think it's the most he's pitched since
like twenty nineteen or something like eighteen. And he had
just had back to back his two worse outings of
the season, and so I didn't see velocity or anything
and like to see if there's a huge drop off
or whatever. But he might be gassed or reaching the
point where he's gased. Just needs to be shut down

(01:26):
for a minute.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, like one start, maybe you can roll through. Just
wait till they they hadn't had an off day in
a while, and that's the problem. You can't right now.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
That might have had something to do with their pitching
acquisition as well, adding an other starter.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I think Chris Young is very methodical and very smart.

Speaker 6 (01:41):
I heard speculation about that when they went and got
another starter, that it was like, maybe it was because
de Grom has gassed a little bit. Maybe you shut
him down so he can be fresh for the postseason
and you need another good starter to help you get
through the regular season and still contend. Definitely was a
surprise to see them get a starter.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
And they shood Rocker down to Triple A, so they
have a way to like they have guys who can
like cover it. If he needed to, but I think
they're waiting for the day off to to do that
because they're still like right now, a game after game
game and their bullpens kind of tacks.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Their new guys have been good. They didn't give up
any runs.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
The uh, the thing the problem is yesterday is pretty
much the first time all year that Bruce Bochie has
scolded a player. I think because it's no outs, you
are in the.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Bottom of the ninth inning or top of the ninth inning,
you're down by one.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Deleys takes a walk and delays. By the way, was
the only guy who did offense yesterday for the Rangers.
Good for him. And then John Peterson puts the ball
in play for once and a Doleys run into second
base and JP Crawford, the short stuff of the Mariagers,
bobbles the ball and Dulas was running hard.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
The thing about getting secreations you kind of gotta slow down.
He didn't slide. He didn't slide.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
If he slides, he's safe at seconds is first and second,
no outs, And it was just a one of those like, dude,
what he thought he could make it and he didn't,
And uh, boach He was asked about it after the
game and he's not happy.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Do you have the audeo of that? And you don't,
you don't need it.

Speaker 6 (03:07):
But yeah, typically Boachie the way he responds everything, or you.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Know, he's a he's gonna try his bells and we're
gonna great. Me meant to do the right thing, and
we'll give him a day to think about it. He'll
do it next time. And this time he was like,
I don't know what he was thinking. Wait, we gotta
play the game or something.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
It was very crazy.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
Yeah, Boachie definitely sounds like a guy that does barbecue
in his spare time.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Right, well, we're gonna turn these ribs over a little bit,
just a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
So, here's where we are.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
We are two games out of the Wild Card behind
the Mariners, two and a half games out of the Yankees,
who you start a three game series with sweep so
sweeping up.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Uh in the division.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I think Houston's kind of falling back. You're only four
and four and a half out of Houston. When it's
all right there and get in the year you won
the World Series, you weren't like the number one or
two seed you had to get in play that extra
round of games, and it's fine, so just get in.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
I will say this, I feel more Rangers buzz right
now than I felt since they won the World Series.
Like people are excited and it's small talk. I'm running
into it everywhere. Big trade deadline will do that too.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
When you start playing better and then you go and
get people, people start getting horny.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
A Pennant race is always fun. Luca was offered contract
three years, one sixty five.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
He took it. He's higned it, he's signed it. So
he took the Lakers though, that's the party.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
You guys like that. You guys like that.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
He has the ability to opt out the year before
the Mavericks on the Lakers pick.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Okay, so let's see.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
So so he wanted to opt out and leave, we
would have the Lakers pick ok So that would help us.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah they're tank they would be terrible.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
They that's his plan to help us, because yeah, Luke
always wants to help the Mavericks out.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
So that's just right.

Speaker 6 (04:49):
And I saw somebody talking about would he ever return
to Texas? Did you ever have an interest in going
back to Texas or living in Texas?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Like not at all.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
We have water mountains.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
It's nice. But you know, he did the big Jordan tour.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
They went told us he was on a Yankees game broadcast,
he was on the Today Show. You know, he was
on all these He was like a full media blitz
that ended in announcing his contract with the Lakers. And
it looked like all his teammates about Lebron were there.
Uh right, did you notice that?

Speaker 5 (05:17):
I didn't see it, so I don't know, but I
did see Lebron posted him working out at a Clippers facility.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Well that's why it was That's why it was a
story that uh, that's why it was a story that
Lebron reached out to Lebron.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I mean, Lebron reached out to Luca.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
You know, I could totally see Lebron reaching out to Lebron.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
See that I've reached out to myself to talk about
what I'm gonna do next year?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Nicole, Where are we taking our talents? Where are we
taking our talents?

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Let me talk to myself.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Hold on, you did leave off one big spot of
Luca's media tour. He stopped Tough at the Sphere to
see the Backstreet Boys.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
There's some really funny pictures of that.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
And so there's one Backstreet boy who, like everyone knows,
is the worst. He's the guy who can't sing. He's
the short one. And Luke he's like on a training table, yeah,
doing some lunch, is looking Luca dead in the eye
as Lucas, you know, because Luca is like three of
this guy. It's the little one, it's the little angry one. Yeah,
it's the worst Backstreet boy. And uh, I thought it's
cool that Lucas stopped there though. Yeah, he was decked

(06:12):
out in all white because you're supposed to wear all
white the Backstreet Boys shows, apparently.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
And watching Pelinka dance in his chair to that concert
made me aid him even more.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
All right, coming up next, speaking of music, we got
music news.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
Did Rod Stewart take a shot at Ozzie we'll find
out next
