Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now Cowboy.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Dallas Morning News had an article up I believe, written
by Calvin Watkins, ten questions the Cowboys must resolve in
the final stretch of the regular season. There's four games left,
the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Probably need to win them all. I was thinking about this.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I do a podcast called the One Star Cowboys Podcast,
and I shoot it over at the Haymaker Network. Yeah,
and I would like to say, Hey, Mayor. As I
was doing that podcast, we started talking towards the end
of it about can you imagine the vibe Sunday night if,
for whatever reason, the Raiders somehow upset the Eagles on
Sunday at noon. Hey, because that would open the door

(00:54):
and be the Christmas gift you need. And then Sunday
night at at and T Stadium would be a crazy scene.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
I think, are you Are you guys watching the NFC
East Hard Knocks.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
No, I watched the first one. I got bored with it,
but I might zoom through the second one.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
I watched it last night and really enjoyed it. Okay, cool,
I mean I've really enjoyed it. And it's because of
what's going on with Philly and Dallas.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well, yeah, and they're very much in the moment, Like
I thought it was gonna be stuff from earlier in
the season.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
They're doing it week by week, week by week.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
So I didn't watch any of that Washington Minnesota game,
but I saw the full download on Hard Knocks and
I'm like, Okay, this is pretty interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
And the Minnesota game.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Minnesota, they beat Washington thirty one to nothing, but that
game was closer than people think.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
That game was fourteen to twenty minutes left in the game.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Did zach Ertz is his career over?

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Probably?

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, that was a terrible, oh terrible thing. His leg exploded. Yeah,
So some of.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
The questions needed that we gotta get solved by the
end of the year.

Speaker 6 (01:54):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Number one is Tyler Guidon the starting left tackle of
the future, and now I don't know if he's gonna play.
He's still hurt, so it might be Nate Thomas again.
That's the big thing about last Thursday night. Outside of
the Cowboys' defense not playing well and Clowny not being there,
no pass rush, Dak was under pressure all night long.

Speaker 6 (02:11):
Too, and it was from the tackles, Like the interior
of that line did their job.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
That both tackles were terrible.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
So Terrence Steele, We've had doubts about him for a while,
but I mean, if you got to lose another first
round pick, that's gonna be devastating. You know what I'm saying.
You've already lost Mazi. That was a wasted first round pick.
If Tyler Guyiten's a waste, don't I don't think he is.
And I think you've seen that Nate Thomas is not

(02:38):
anywhere near as good as Tyler Goeyiton even and Tyler
Goyiton is not great, but at least he's young and
has promise.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
I hope it's not over for him.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Yeah, he's just been hurt. He's had some good moments
this year. He just gets hurt too much.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
He probably needs to play right tackle, which you played
in college. And if you were to let go of
Terrence Steele in the off season after June first, I
would save you fourteen million dollars on the cap, So
it would make sense to probably do that and then
move Tyler got in there, and then you're fishing for
a left tackle again, which is not really where you

(03:11):
want to be. But they could also consider bringing Tered
Steel back and just rocking with it for another year.
I think you could be fine doing that.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
Let's get tiring out of retirement. Did you see him
the other day?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, he's got some story about the gym he was starting.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
Yeah, he was running sprints at a gym, and like,
even at his age and current condition, it was faster
than like most tight ends and linebackers in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Right now, let's get him back in here. Come on, great.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I mean, Philip Rivers is forty four, Tyron's like thirty four. Yeah,
Philip Rivers does a lot of blocking. Tyron's young.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah. Uh.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
What is Sam Williams's future?

Speaker 6 (03:47):
I'm oh, yeah, he You know, any of these guys
that had an opportunity to step up when Michael Parsons left,
they haven't haven't really taken advantage of it. The one
guy that has been better than the others is probably
as a rock. He's not exactly lighting it up, but
he's got a bright future, I would think.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
But anybody else, they've not proved themselves.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, I gez a Roku. Who's fine. I think he's
really good and gonna be really good.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
I like that he plays the run too.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Man.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Sam Williams has been good since he's been playing less.
Once they got clowny and he could play less, he's
been not as exposed. Feels like a good, good acquisition
for the Jets in the offseason.

Speaker 5 (04:26):
Agreed, some.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Savone, revel your cornerback? Can he get more playing time?
What's bad? Thursday night? Feel bad for him?

Speaker 6 (04:35):
He looks bad, But dude, yeah, he's been hurt. He
hasn't even had a bunch of NFL practices. All of
a sudden, he's just thrust into action. He's playing and
he's been out for a long time. So but I
like him a lot. I think he's got a bright future.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
I like him. I think he's a keeper.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
I have way more questions about Trayvon Diggs than I do.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
Revel.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
What if we're building to like Trayvon Diggs with a
get like a playoff clinching in her like things are
so weird with him all the time, and then the
Cowboys get so excited about that, and he stays on
his deal next year and he's here, No, he won't.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
He won't be here next year for sure.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Well, he's so wre's that knee brace too, It's very awkward,
Like he's not one hundred percent just a few games,
but it seem to get picked on like that the
other night, like their teams are going to go after him.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
Of course, a rookie with three games of experience.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
Yeah, and he also doesn't necessarily fit Eberflus's scheme like
his the skills that are he he's best at are
not necessarily what Ebraflus likes to do, so he's gonna
have to adjust to that too, like everyone is.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, of course, coming up next, let's ask a very
important George Pickens question.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
Okay, we're going to ask you that question, and it's
coming up next.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Ben and Skin Show ninety seven point one The Eagle,
Thank you for hanging out with us to day. All Right,
we're in the middle of our important list of questions
that need to be answered this Cowboys season, and here
to pick it up is Tizzle.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Thanks to the Dallas Morning News for the content. A
bunch of questions Cowboys need answer by the end of
the year. Can George Pickens improve his off the field antics?

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Improve his antics?

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, just like everything you know. Yeah, I mean, I
think it's more on the field. His off the field
stuff does not bother me. It's the on the field
stuff that bothers me.

Speaker 6 (06:17):
It doesn't bother us if he's late for meetings or
anything like that. Why do we care? It doesn't impact us.
It's how does he play when he's on the field.
And look, I haven't broken down film of him like
how he handles every single play, But dude, you can
put together a highlight montage from that Detroit game that
makes you scratch your head and go, I don't know
what was happening here? Was he not trying his hardest?

(06:39):
Was he depressed? Was he worried about CD? Was he
or you know, some people will say, well, if he
knows he's not getting the ball, he doesn't give a
damn at all. Ever, and so some people that watch
all this stuff all the time said what he did
in this game was no different than what he's done
all year. He just also mixes in incredible plays along
the way. I don't know enough to know, but I
do know that I'd be lying to you if I

(07:01):
wasn't a little bit concerned when in the biggest game
of their season so far, he's one of their best
players and it looked like he really wasn't that into it.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Kind of yeah, no, and they needed him to step
up at that point too with ceedee lamb out, and
that's where it's like, okay, man, we need you. You've
carried the load before without him, like what happened there.
The biggest off the field thing is just like being
late for a couple of meetings and missing the team
bus for a second, which Hayes did that in Pittsburgh,
Like you knew what you were getting.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I had no problem with.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
The Instagram post about Richard Sherman whatever. I know think
Cowboys probably ended up telling him to take that down,
But whatever, I have any problem with that. I do
think it's really good to get the full George Pickens
experience just from like a making decisions point of view,
like a front office point of view, to get all
of it and not just small little samples of what

(07:50):
he is, to get the whole picture, which they are getting.
The entire George Pickens experience is being late a few times,
being top ten and pretty much all the receiving yards
statistics putting your team in second and twenty five a
lot because of fifteen yard penalties.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, like one a game.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
It's he's gonna end up with like as one he's
gonna end up like eight to ten fifteen yard penalties
this year, which is it's the George Pickens experience.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
It's what it is, right and now you know, so
you can franchise tag me. That's the smartest thing to do.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Probably, no, you disagree, I know I disagree, But like
the thing that I do know about him, at least
I think I know about him, is that it's way
better when the team's good, and the team's probably gonna
be good if you got dak so I would do
it one hundred percent.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I would do it.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
But if you don't, I understand why you wouldn't want
to like do that. I do know that the pr
on him is gonna shift, Like that changes because we're
about to hit the off season and Jerry's gonna forget
who his agent is and like the hit piece begins
after the season.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Is what So you don't want to commit to him?
Now what changes after franchise tagging him? Like you know
what he is value risk?

Speaker 5 (09:01):
The risk is more.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
You're just committing to more years of it and if
he torpedoes you, whereas if it's just one year, your
risk is Okay, he might not even play for us
this year when we pay him twenty whatever million.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
He might realize too. I think it'll change his market.
I think will change because he had never what he's
doing this year. People act like, Okay, he was we
saw this in Pittsburgh. You do not see all this
in Pittsburgh. Just from a pure statistical output.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
He was not doing this franchise for receivers. What twenty
eight minute'll be probably twenty eight next year. Okay, so
you know four at one would be four years at
thirty five a year, and you're gonna guarantee uh, we'll
say one hundred and five of that.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
That's three years of that. Don't you think more like thirty?

Speaker 6 (09:44):
I don't just depends on his agent's known for squeezing
every dollar out of every deal.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
I don't think that.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Now he's got like he's ahead of Ceedee Lamb in
some categories only because Ceedy Lambs played more, mister or
four games.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Yeah, but like.

Speaker 6 (09:59):
It's a conundr, dude, It truly is. It's not a
no brainer. It's complicated. And you heard Jerry Jones on
the fan the other day scared to even comment on
his effort. He's a sensitive player in that area. You
gotta be real careful there. Yeah, to what he said,
something like that.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Well, and the difference here, though, is that twenty nine
other teams that will with cap space would have wanted Micah.
I think fifteen teams might want George Pickens. Probably fifteen teams.
We're not doing that. We've seen enough again the first
and twenty five, like the fifteen yard penalties every game.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Geez, dude, it hurts. Gotta stop.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
We'll see four more games to evaluate that. U is
Ryan Flinoy the number three wide receiver moving forward.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
I'm comfortable with that. I like him a lot.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
I think he's really good and this didn't just come
out of nowhere, like he's a guy that all the
people that are at camp watching him or like, dude,
this guy is legit. He's been doing this every opportunity
he's gotten. So I don't think it's a fluke. I'm
happy with him.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
You're not committed to him for very long anyways right now?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
No, I think he would be I think twenty twenty
six of his final years contract.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Yeah, he's a second year player.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Yeah, remember Mingo.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Now I look for big things from him, right.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Yeah, Mingo was, but we gave up a fourth for him,
So not that big of a deal, right, Uh? Is
Javonte Williams the twenty twenty sixth starter at running back?

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Nope? I will tell you now too. Nope.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
Yeah, they have not been They've not been great running
the ball in a long time. Started off really strong,
but they've not been good in a long time. And
I don't know if it's his fault or the line's fault,
but I don't know that I want. I mean, he
makes sense at a bargain, but if you have to
pay him a lot of money or whatever, no, But.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
I also think that there's a greater than zero chance
that his market has dropped from whatever it was five
weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yes, I think the eyeball test is showing that he's
kind of turned into Zeke.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
The explosion is gone. That was there, It's gone.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
There's some questions, there's plenty of questions.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
Thank Kevin, I heard all those questions. Sorry.

Speaker 6 (11:58):
Coming up next in music news, what are people listening
to at bars? We have stats we can tell you,
and that's coming away next, So don't miss it right
