“Is it possible to be too excited about an 18-year-old dunking on souls in Summer League?”In this electric episode of The Ben and Skin Show, the crew dives headfirst into the Cooper Flagg hype train—and let’s just say, the horniness levels are off the charts. Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray break down Flagg’s jaw-dropping 31-point performance, his soul-snatching dunk attempts, and why his “coconuts” might be the biggest in the league (metaphorically, of course). But it’s not all hoops and highlights—things take a hilariously unexpected turn when KT recounts the now-infamous Lumineers concert incident involving Mr. Met, a rogue tambourine, and a stage dive gone wrong. Was Ben secretly at the concert? Did Mr. Met survive? And why are tambourines the new baseballs?

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Now it is around the sports. Kgun Queens has all
the sports. Yes, yes, so.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It was a Summer League game number two for the
Mavericks and Cooper Flag and that will be the end
of Cooper Flag's summer league games for the rest of
his life. He had thirty one points on Saturday. Did
you guys take that in? Yes, you guys feel pretty
horny about.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
It, extremely horny about it. Could not feel better about it.
I thought it was awesome. And the level of competition
is not good obviously compared to you know, real NBA rosters.
These teams, players don't know each other, a lot of
them aren't going to be in the league. You don't
even know your teammates or you know, you barely met

(00:46):
them and all that. But you know, I think it
was important. You know, it's not massively important, but for
him to take that next step, it's probably a level
of competitiveness that not as organized this college basketball. But
you know, you're playing more talented players and it's a
different ball and just dip your toe in it and

(01:07):
you're good. And I'm glad he did that. He showcased
some extreme athleticism a couple of times. He tried to
dunk on people's souls. So I'm glad it came and went.
He had a nice thirty one point game, but man,
Summer League is brutal. Yeah, I mean, I've it's good
I got to watch him. It was fun.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Gave me a reason to watch Summer League. I don't
know how much more Summer League I'm gonna watch. Maybe
if I'm drinking coffee and they're replaying it on NBA
TV as I'm flipping around, maybe I'll watch a few minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
But it's fun.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's fun to like watch him play and imagine how
he's gonna fit in with the Mavericks and what he's
gonna be doing, and you know, just sit there and
watch that Summer League and then looked out at Instagram
and watch Clay D.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Thompson with Meg D. Stallion. Yeah, I man, there's a
there's a still fun photo of one of the dunks
he attempted. He missed the dump the dunk. He may
have had the dump, but he missed the dunk in
the San Antonio game, and it's one of the most
aggressive dunk attempts I've ever seen. If you think about
how long his arm is and how far he's reared

(02:15):
back to dunk that basketball. I mean, that's it's going
to be so much fun watching him play. He just
does everything pretty well. It's not as if he does
one thing mind blowing ly well maybe defense, but like,
he just does everything well. And the fact that he's
already this good and his coconuts are this large at eighteen,

(02:37):
I mean, it's why he's such a phenom and such
a bright prospect. I can't believe the Mavericks lucked out,
got out of purgatory and got this young stallion.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Is it bad that every time he was about to
make contact with someone or the rim in that case
on the dunk that I was kind of going, eh,
I not want him even playing, Like, I get why
you do it, but like, if you know enough about
him and to be a sure shot number one, I
don't even know it's necessary for him to be at
summer League.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
So I'm glad they're shutting him down. I'm happy. It's
pretty standard. It's just like the top pick.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
But just like the way luck has been going for us,
although we I guess we did have good luck. I
guess I guess it was, but it was, like, you know,
the way the season ended and all that, you're kind
of going, God, everything that can go wrong will the
Murphy's law of basketball.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
My favorite thing about Summer League so far is, you know,
it's pretty clear that there's a group of people that
cover the Mavericks and you know, cover changes over time.
And it's not even traditional media, it's you know, the
webosphere and social media. The people that have taken the
stance that I can't enjoy Mavericks basketball. Then they decided

(03:44):
to get all worked up over what Cuban.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Was saying at Summer League. Did y'all see much of
this where he said he thinks they're contender this year?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Did he say something? Did he say something about Lebron
or Jordan or something? Right, Well, I didn't see that.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I miss that if that happened, you know, talking about
Kyrie coming, he said, you know, they're a contender if
Kyrie's back. And then so then I started seeing a
lot of people getting upset about that.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Why would that be inaccurate? They are a contender with Kyrie.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Because if you want to let your emotion dictate your
reaction everything, then that's the way it's going to be.
But it's like Okay, man, isn't it fun watching Cooper flag?
But what should I get upset about because I've been
done wrong? But they were a contender last year if
everybody was healthy. I know that was a big if bomb.
But even after the trade, they were still going to

(04:32):
be a contender.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I think so.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
But I don't think other I think the people that
want to be upset over this and still want to
be upset over this, will not concede that until the
Mavericks are contending.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
I just think he goes not here anymore. I just
think that's not going to happen because it's they're going
to be successful. He's not going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
I think, like what I took out a Summer League
two in watching this is for the Mavericks. It's really
about getting through December. You know, once they get through
December depending I mean, all this always depends on health.
But then things start changing, guys getting acclimated, all those
kinds of things, And I think, is, you know, as

(05:11):
much as I don't love the player, just in a vacuum,
I mean, dude, DeAngelo is really important for this team
because you saw, it's just so much easier for a
guy like Cooper Flag when he don't have to bring
the ball pass time.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I mean, the dude was exhausted.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah, he was exhausted, and so that's why he was
missing free throws and his jumper was way short and
all that stuff. That you're watching a tired guy. And
so the less responsibility they can put on him and
just let him play, the more dividends are going to
get back in year one.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Because of that, right, and a guy who's always been
the entire focus of his entire team can just be
a role player to fit in where he's needed. Ah Man,
good good stuff. Yes, very excited about Cooper Flag in
Summer League, but it has come and gone. He won't
play again coming up in just over three minutes. A
lot of people are accusing me of being at a
Lumineer show. Was I there or was I not there?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Ben an Skin Show ninety some one point won the Eagle.

(06:27):
miss out on that today game never is podcast if
it comes up in thirty minutes. But now let's continue
our sports conversation with KT with an update from a
Lumineers concert.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah. Also, did you guys see the Rangers series win
this weekend? About it that stuff? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Suck it astros. Yeah, the Lumineers are playing a show
I'm guessing in New York because mister Mett was there, and.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Tell everyone who mister met.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Mister Matt is the mascot of the Mets. He's in baseball?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Has he been has he been around for a long time?
Do you know? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Okay, he's one of the legends, Hall of Fame level mascots,
something this town knows nothing about.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
So it's an old man in there.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
I hope so well, Actually, given the story, I hope
it's actually someone.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
It's the mascot. Then, is the Hall of Fame or
not the person inside that?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yes, I've noticed that Kevin talks about mascots as if
everyone's up to speed on the mascot world and following
it closely.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Mister met was there.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Yeah, you speak about it as if it's just common
knowledge and everyone knows all the mascots and they're not
the best dressed guy at the met gala is also,
mister Met, Right.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Two types of people in this world, people who like
sports and people who don't.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
That's a really good point because I hate sports. But man,
do I know about mascots.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I'm telling you, mister med is a legend. They even
worked in Missus Matt. It's kind of the you know,
if you want to comp for maybe your gamers out there,
it's the mister and Missus pac Man of mascots.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Okay, I can see that lovable fella.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Where's normal pants, work shoes, But he has the upper
body of a baseball. It's fantastic. Now, the Luminears apparently
I didn't know this. They apparently just launched tambourines the
whole show.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Is that right? They're tambourine heavy band. Uh they're throwing
them into the crowd or yeah, they're throwing them away promo. Yeah,
it's the guitar pick, except it's tambourine.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
There's a certain irony here that does tie into sports
because they stopped giving away baseballs because you can throw
them at people out on the field.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
I wonder if throw.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Yeah, dude, when did they stop doing this handing out
baseballs in the crowd?

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Come on, man, they still do it?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Really?

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, well, maybe I'm getting it confused with bat night.
I go to more baseball games than you do. Hey,
don't tell him what he does or doesn't do.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Ye At the end of the inning, the first baseman
makes the out and he throws the ball back.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
To Oh no, I'm talking about I'm talking about promo baseball.
Yeah no, I don't think they go in the stands
and rip the ball away from the fan.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
But if that honestly same measure of safety should be
taken into consideration, then yeah, maybe it only takes one
Josh Hamilton, does it throw the ball over the left
field wall? The one life is safe. I'm pretty saying
it's a it's an odd thing to do that we
kind of just allow.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I predict there will be a moment where the lumineers
have to stop throwing tambourines into the crowd.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
It might be well the thrown on the mister med
mister Mett obviously a mascot, and his hands aren't made
of you know, normal hand like hours are.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
He also can't see very much see.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Well, yeah, so they he's a blind baseball lead singers
of the Lumineers, Doctor Luman throws a h does a
tambourine at him and he falls to his knees, kind
of bubbles.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
It trying to find it on the ground, and you'll
hear that. But then he picks it up.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
And then mister med gets his strut on because he's,
you know, he's a little top heavy, and then he uh,
he falls off the stage and you're gonna hear it
very closely from what I think is Ben Rogers' cell
phone camera this concert.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
This something little that sounds like me.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
It also sounds like the follow up yell sounds like
Ben and the around the sports centro, Oh.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Long thigu about when I heard it your town is
about to be quarantined. Here's another angle of it.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Whe's the lead singers laughing because mister Met can't catch
the tamarine.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Like mister Mett goes down to his knees to try
to scoop it up.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I saw the owl hit the thing so is the
Lumineer's concert one long song?

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, it's usually the song titles are usually a girl's name.
Oh that song was good too, you Belong with Me?
Or did you know the Black Keys concert where they
opened for them?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Uh? Oh the one in Fort Worth? Yes, I didn't
make it in time to see much of the Lumineers.
Are the Lumineers the band you compared to the show
Biz Pizza It's they're same era, but it's that's Mumford
and Son.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
And by the way, Mumford and Son sounds like a
moving company. And they're back with a new record and
I'm sure it's going to be all over the Eagle.
The Lumineers are very big because of Mumford and Son.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah, okay, my daughter's into the Lumineers.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
They slid in right after the Mumford boom, kick drum, tambourine.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yeah, a lot of the a lot of the what
do they call the jo Hey music because there's like,
oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
They all of them have a canteen on them at
all times. Yeah yeah, they all wear suspenders, washerboards, washer
so great, and mister Matt can no longer enjoy a
Luminier's concert ever again, did he die? All right?

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Just got back in down from that all right? Coming
up next, Let's go around the beef. Why is BUCkies
beefing with Colorado? That's next,
