Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fellas Cowboy.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Surprise.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
So the Cowboys that played in the second preseason game
against the Ravens of the Night didn't go great. Cowboys
lost thirty one to thirteen. The big story I think though,
is they let Joe Milton play a lot. Joe Milton
is your backup quarterback. They traded like seventh rounder for
him or six round for him, and that's you know,
after letting Trey Lance go to the Chargers last year,

(00:38):
Cooper Rush was the starting quarterback for the Ravens. So
Joe Milton went nine of eighteen for one hundred and
twenty two yards, had an interception, took a couple of sacks,
including one which was a safety. From the first drive
of the game.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
It's a good way to start it.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
And it was so bad that the Cowboys weren't getting
first downs, couldn't even possess the ball. People were kind
of going, Okay, we're gonna have to get the other
quarterback in there, Will Greer, just so we can get
a look at these wide receivers. We need someone to
get the ball out. So it's very wild ask with
Joe Milton. They couldn't run the ball either. I mean,
that's part of it. Although you're starting lineman Cooper BB

(01:15):
and Tyler Booker were great, so not good for Joe Milton,
and he'll probably get another chance in the third preseason game,
but there's now big questions about is this year future
backup quarterback or are we going to do something else.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It's all I hear, Like when you go buy a
sports talk radio station, all you hear is talk about
Joe Milton and how he's such a project and he's
not ready right now, and you know, there's so much
to like about him. He's got an absolute bazooka, maybe
one of the greatest arms in the history of football.
Like he can throw the ball eighty yards and he

(01:52):
can run, He's super fast. I don't think they're letting
him run right now. I think they're asking him just
standing there and throw the ball. Biggest knock on him
is that he just doesn't have a lot of experience,
and he holds the ball too long and he's not
really accurate. He's just throwing darts all over the place.
But I like, like, you can definitely see upside. You

(02:13):
want to him to stick around, and he's probably more
of a third string quarterback project and you'd want a
guy like Cooper Rush who you just lost, to be
your backup. But I don't want a guy like Cooper Rush.
And I love the fact that Joe Milton's not ready
to be a serious player because if Dak gets hurt,

(02:34):
I think you should tank, Like I think they're probably
gonna tank involuntarily. Anyways, I just think it's gonna kind
of be a lost season. Your only hope is if
your defense is just getting a ton of turnovers. You
give up a ton of yards, you get run all over,
but you get some turnovers, you sack the quarterback and
you throw throw the ball, and so it's gonna be
a fun season to watch if that offense is getting

(02:57):
cranked up and you're in those games. But if you
lose Dat, I don't think there's anything to fight for. Like,
if you lose Dak, I don't think you were like, God,
we only had a veteran quarterback. Like, I know Carson
Wentz is out there, would you want Carson Wentz? So
here's a guy who can win three out of five
games in the stretch and keep your season alive.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I'd rather lose all five of those.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Games and officially bury the season, because I just think
they have too many, whole, too many areas of weakness.
And so this is the earliest I've ever been thinking
about tanking. I'm not saying tank week week one. I
hope they're fun, I hope they're in games. But if
Dak's hurt, I don't want a competent placeholder quarterback just
to help them win meaningless games.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
That's what went wrong last year. I need an answer
to a question. Is Joe Flacco available?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
He's gonna be starting for the Browns.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Probably, he is going to start for probably unless they
make a wild thing and make sure they were the starter.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
The Joe amazing. If you never could end up being
the starter, he could be if they decide to go.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
I mean, I think they're gonna do Joe Flacco and
then in week six be like, okay, should have just
got hurt too.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
So this wasn't the athletic quarterback Tiers thing. But there
is a different one. I saw a few weeks ago
and in the top forty they didn't have a Browns
quarterback and they have five quarterbacks in the roster. Trey
Lance has been good for the Chargers. He's gonna be
the backup and for the Chargers, which.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Whatever, I'm not doing the.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
We should have kept Trey Lance.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I think that's a horrible take, but I do think
they should have embraced him. I do think they should
have said, oh, we did get this guy, no matter
if you're on board or not, and actually try because
Trey Lance has a way.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Higher ceiling than Joe Milton ever did.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Trey Lance was actually, even though a Division two, a
good college quarterback and was wronged in San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
He was a top five pick in the entire draft, He.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Was wronged in San Francisco too. So like Joe Milton,
played one good game against the Bills backups and now
two bad games against the Ravens backups and whoever we
played the Rams backup? Me?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Like, was he a six round pick? Six or seven?
So very very weird.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
But also it's preseason, like this team's not supposed to
be good without CD or Dak or Micah.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
How much does Zak play on their on Friday?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
None? None? Oh none?

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Exactly after Romo got hurt, he hadn't played a preseason
snap since twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, is that I think that Romo thing scarred? Yeah,
that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yeah, the Romo thing, that's exactly what it is, which
he should never play for sure, shouldn't have been in
that game.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
All Right, There you have it.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
There's cussing the Cowboys coming up in just over three minutes.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Chuck E.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Cheese is trying something new and they're doing it in Arlington.
