Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come on.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Surprise. An ultimate episode of the Cowboys documentary on Netflix
is called Cocaine Cowboy, and it starts here. Michael Irvind
liked to party, guys. I had a routine.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
After you win the Super Bowl, you get about a month,
you cut loose half for a good time. In the
end of that, March fitth was the big party. And
my birthday happens to fall March fifth. They had police
(00:47):
go and see what's going on in the room. And
then they came and knocked on the door, and I
didn't want to let him in, and they pulled to
guard open the door.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Right now, serious allegations of cocaine possession and discussion of
cocaine use by Dallas Cowboys star receiver Michael Irvin.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Tonight, our hidden camera videotape reveal a man on the
brink of self destruction. Will Joe at least say they
discovered drug parapinelia, some sex.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Toys, along with substantial amounts of marijuana and cocaine.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
One bag contained the largest chunk of crack cocaine he
had ever seen.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
It was a huge chunk.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
We were talking about what is and isn't a puff
piece that depends on what your definition is is is
is thank you, mister Clinton. But the one thing that
they left out of this that they could have put
in that if they were completely i'll just say unbiased,
that they would have put in because I'll never forget watching.
(01:48):
And I don't even know if you guys know it exists,
but you know that footage they're showing that Padini put
the camera in the back seat. You realize on the
local news a kid walked up to the car and
Michael Irvin signed the autograph while he's holding like a
bag of cocaine, like it's some of the craziest stuff
you've ever seen. And it was on the local news,
and they clearly had the footage because they had the
(02:09):
Padini stuff in the back seat, and they did not
use that.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
The thing that stood out to me the most was.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
That, you know, here these guys are that are super
rich and it's the cheapest like motel.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
You on Walnut Hill. Wonder if that still exists. Drive
by there. So here's what the DA says to Irvin
once it gets taken in.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
Mike Gillette was my boss, and we were trying to
prove that the crack cocaine belonged to Michael Ersa.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Jerry set up a meeting between Mike Chillette and.
Speaker 7 (02:43):
I and there was a negotiation about what we can
do with this. We got this evidence. This is how
much time you could be looking at.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
But Mike Chilett was trying to say that I brought
the drug. I said, I didn't bring the John just
been on this, he said. The truth is what I
make is court wrong. He said, And personally, I think
you're a piece and you've used your fame and your
money to take advantage of these poor white goodness and
(03:11):
I'm a filady like a fish and leave you natally
his exact words.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Wow, well you believe that. I mean, that's the whole
thing is like what was really said? I don't know.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
I mean all I could sit there and think about
is why didn't they just say Alfredo Roberts brought the drugs.
I mean, the whole thing is so wild ass. But
I did not know the context of Michael showing up
in court with the mink was predicated on that. Like
we talked about it all the time, Michael Irvin showing
up at court and summer with a mink coat and sunglasses.
But I the way it was presented in this documentary
(03:44):
was that that was his rebuttal to the guy saying
what he just said to him on that.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Clip, Did you play right? And I believe the guy
said that, yeah, no, I too. You're talking about Texas
in the nineties. Sure, I believe that it's just this
does there's some parts of this it's like spawning away
to really make Michael end up looking good, Like the
idea that this mink coat. What's the point of the
mink coat? And I've got the clip here first, and
then let's guess what the real meaning of that is?
Speaker 8 (04:10):
Shock waves and Dallas is cowboys wide resouper. Michael Irvin
is induided on two counts of drug possession. He faces
up to twenty years in prison if convicted.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I'll show you tomorrow what it is when you get here.
And that's why I put on a meat coat in shades.
You want to show me up, let me show you.
Speaker 9 (04:32):
It was one hundred and five degrees Tuesday in Dallas.
The things we're really hitting up in the.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Court round, it's nineteen ninety six.
Speaker 10 (04:39):
It's one year after the circus, the debacle that was
OJ in Los Angeles, and it made the lawyers and
the judges' central characters in the drama.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Okay, so what's the point of the mint code.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
It's like he's showing up the assistant district attorney, who's.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Like a good plan. I don't.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
I wouldn't saying so, because you know what Ben and
I and all of our friends were thinking at the
time is wow, this is about as flamboyan a thing
as you can do. It's not the kind of thing
to win over a judge or a jury, but Mike's
gonna be the playmaker.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
He became personal.
Speaker 6 (05:14):
And I'm not saying he was making good decisions obviously,
but it became personal. And so the police officer was
making it personal, saying, hey, I'm gonna filley you like
a fish or whatever. And so he, you know it,
says this later too. You know, I'm gonna someone's gonna
go pay me a bunch of money to catch a football,
and you're still gonna have this crappy job. So he
was just saying, hey, man, I'm living the life. Here's
(05:37):
my fur coat, and I'm not worried about you. This
is how little I'm worried. That is so wild years.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
Yeah, Okay, it's also wild that in Texas you could
get twenty years for that kind of drug for sure,
because they you know, it's not like it was heavyweight.
They flushed a bunch of it down the toilet. It
was like residue and a crack rock, and you can
get twenty years from that. And that's what you guys
have heard the term mandatory minimum. This was the whole
war on drugs, and the guys who ushered it in,
(06:05):
by the way, were Clinton and Biden. They're the ones
who ushered in mandatory minimums. But a little crack rock,
because of the weight of it, could get you more
years in prison.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Coming on next, let's talk about what they found in
the motel room a little more. And also we introduced
a new character, Rachelle Smith Ben and Skin Show ninety
seven point one The Eagle. Thanks for hanging out with us.
Don't forget you know, we've been doing this all month.
If you have a special teacher that you'd like to

(06:36):
lucky teacher will win five thousand dollars for her classroom.
That's an awesome thing.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
All right, we've been talking about the Cowboys documentary series
on Netflix. We're on episode seven, the Cocaine Cowboy, and
KT has more.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, so there's a little more about what they found
in the motel room. And I thought this was kind
of fun. The two offers was testified today.
Speaker 11 (06:57):
They entered the motel room because they could strongly smell marijuana, smoke.
Speaker 7 (07:01):
And then a golf ball sized piece of crack cocaine.
Speaker 11 (07:04):
In Texas, we didn't put up with that stuff. People
were doing life sentences for possession of marijuana.
Speaker 7 (07:11):
But one of the strippers, Angela Back said and it
was herbs and that was critical as we were the
only our cakes. And one of my recollection is how
many strippers I talked to Rachelle Smith. I interviewed her
a lot of times.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
All right, yeah, you day apparently think whatever happened to
Angela Beck?
Speaker 5 (07:33):
I did wonder what happened to her? Do you know
that's what she get twenty years?
Speaker 2 (07:38):
I don't know. That's the whole thing is like, you
can't even just search it. There's a ton of people
out there named Angela Beck, uh, maybe, I mean maybe
try to find it for more time. But I was
just kind of that's the type of things I want
tied up. I'm being greedy about what I want this documentary.
Speaker 6 (07:52):
Because if she if he was going to Face twenty,
if she said no, I'll jump on the sword, I'll
do the time, But what do I get for it
that type of deal?
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Yeah, and I definitely thought she was the better looking whoror.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
You know what, I'll give you that thank you. I'll
give you that thank you.
Speaker 12 (08:09):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
This is the fixer that we talked about. A couple
of said the Cowboys had a little fixer on the squad,
And this is him talking about his meeting with Rachelle Smith,
the stripper.
Speaker 13 (08:20):
So one night, Michael gives me a call and says, hey,
can you come down Cobley Sports Cafe.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Okay, you don't have to meet at Cowboys Sports Cafe's.
Speaker 5 (08:29):
They did a lot of stuff there. By the way,
I don't think Dennis Padini is the fixer. There is
a fixer, but they didn't show him in this okay,
And I can't remember his name there and there. In fact,
they had a couple of fixers. Did Padini no no, no,
he's still around. Padini was the guy that just drove
them around and partied with him. I'm talking about dw No, no, no,
(08:53):
there's another one. It's a Mexican dude, and I can't
remember his f in name.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Damn.
Speaker 13 (08:59):
Anyways, col Sports Cafe and bring some stuff to detect
wires and stuff. We're often, you know, go meet Riselle Smith.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
We need to talk to her.
Speaker 13 (09:07):
She goes into the room with Michael and they're in
there for I don't know, forty five minutes or so,
going back and forth. And I hear Michael gilling A
hert why why do they call you in or what
are you gonna say? I'm I'm thinking to myself, this
sounds like it's a you know, tampering with a witness
or something.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
And I'm like, this isn't gonna end. Well, that's a
crazy scene too, that they would just go handle it
on their own like that, right. I was shocked by that.
What are we doing is such a bad idea?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
And then I he's yelling at her too. Doesn't look good,
but he's clearly agitated, not himself. Now, this is where
we get to the court and we have a suspicious
threat at the courthouse.
Speaker 11 (09:49):
Now, as the trial went on, the doors open to
the courtroom and income FBI and they said, we need
to get you out of here. There's a death threat
in the building.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
And somebody came. Men have said something to the judge
just arrested Johnny Hernandez, the police officer tilt.
Speaker 9 (10:08):
The murder for hire a Dallas police officer is linked
to a murder for Higher plot aimed at Cowboys star
Michael Irvin.
Speaker 7 (10:16):
It was clear that he wanted to Michael Irvin kilde
gets in.
Speaker 9 (10:21):
Pieces about the person Johnny Hernanez are slowly beginning to emerge.
He was born in Denver and that is where he
met Rachelle Smith, the woman who he says is his
common law wife, the woman who also has had a
personal relationship with Michael Irvin.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
Sources of say Hervin Brett and the policeman's fiance, which
infuriated the officer and set our murder for Higher plot
in motion.
Speaker 13 (10:43):
Johnny Hernandez pled guilty to trying to have Michael Irvin kilt.
Speaker 8 (10:47):
He was given sixty.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Years in prison. Hey, life senates for marijuana, but if
you try to get someone killed is same.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
So yeah, it's crazy that these things are happening. Like,
imagine that was happening now. Yeah, like how this and
this is just one of many different stories. Oh yeah,
in the middle of this big drug trial where he
might go to jail for twenty years, there's a murder
for hire plot from a police officer. It's crazy like
all and I guess this type of stuff just happened
(11:15):
all the time back then to where we were just like, oh,
this is the latest crazy thing. But this is after
they had won their third one, right, and so there's
no doubt that it's falling apart.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Like this is what all the headlines were. It wasn't
about winning anymore, was about this stuff. Yeah, did y'all
remember all this?
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Oh my god, yes, I mean this to Ben's point,
this is all any anybody talked about. I mean, it's
just and and you know, Andrea Kramer said it earlier.
We're a year removed from the OJ stuff, so we're
now used to seeing courtroom dramas on television all the time.
I don't mean drama like you know, I'm talking about
like real live stuff, court TV and all that kind
(11:51):
of stuff.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I was like not surprised I guess, but it's notable
how much national news footage they were showing on this
story in this trial.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
Dude, I mean, we all knew who Manny Alvarez was. Like,
the judge of the case was very well because of all.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
This is like if and I'm using his name just
it's like if Patrick Mahomes had to try it like it.
I mean, that's how popular Michael Irvin was, right for sure? Yeah,
for sure. It's insane. All right. When we come back,
Rachelle Smith does take the stand and then we find
out how Michael got off. Yes, So the America's Team,
The Gambour and His Cowboys is an eight part series
and we're on episode seven called Cocaine Cowboy. We told
(12:30):
you in the last segment that Rochelle Smith's boyfriend or
fiance at the time was a Dallas police officer who
is got caught in a murder for higher plot because
he was going to try to kill Michael Irving. Who
Michael Irvin.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
Sorry, but you guys know you understand why he tried
to kill him.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Yes, he yelled at her.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
I mean it's more than that. I'm gonna stripped down too,
didn't he? Yeah, he he I mean like they were up.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Well no, not just that.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Padina even said it, like he's basically tampering with a witness.
And if you don't think Michael Irvin threatened her life.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
Oh for sure.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Like I mean, I'm not saying the guys justified or whatever,
but this thing is so sordid and so messed up.
I mean we're talking about drugs, crooked police officers, hookers, prostitutes,
court cases.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Cleaners, cafe.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
I mean, it is a gigantic, disgusting mess.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Would you have breakfast at Cowboys Sports Cafe or Cracker Barrel?
I don't see a difference. Rachelle Smith goes to the
stand to testify.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Now, Rachelle Smith testify the she and Michael Irvin rendezvoud
on three occasions in February at a Dallas hotel and
shared cocaine and marijuana provided by Irvin.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Smith said Ervin chopped up the cocaine into powder, and
Urban would smoke cocaine lace marijuana. She also said it
was always Urban who brought the draw.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Smith, the girlfriend of the Dallas police officer accused of
trying to hire a hitman to kill Urban, says Urban
threatened to kill her.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
So that's what's wild too, is you know the guy
was not locked up. The police officer was not locked
up at the time either, you know, right, because he
would have to go to trial. Oh well, and how
the specific timeline on this, You know, they show him
on the documentary locked up and then she testifies. But
technically his case would have still been pending and he
would have got a fair trial.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
He may not have been able to. I mean that
sometimes depends. I mean, think about Diddy. Sometimes, depending on
what the case is, you can not have the you know,
the ability to be out while you're waiting on trial.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
It just depends. I don't remember the answer to that.
But she's what I'm saying. She's up there testifying knowing
that her fiance common law common law okay, common law husband,
his future's up in the air because he was going
to try to kill it. That's this is insane. Yeah, well,
we're gonna jump ahead there because we have to. And uh,
(15:02):
this is how Michael ended up getting off pretty scot free.
You're on TV buying coin. You've got to get out
on you. We're gonna win.
Speaker 8 (15:12):
I've done in development at the Michael Urban drug Trial today,
the playmaker scores a deal.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Very shocking to everyone in the court room.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
At about two this afternoon, it was announced Urban made
a polea markt agreement with prosecutors.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
Urban gets four years to herd probation.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
He pays a ten thousand dollars fine.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
I mean what, Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 6 (15:33):
I was wondering as I watched that, like, how how
did this happen? Did like Jerry help did powerful things
and the cowboys like make a deal right with power players?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yes, that's exactly what happened. Let's talk this through though.
Let's talk to sir. How does that happen? And how
does that go down?
Speaker 5 (15:51):
Jerry schedules a meeting allegedly how does allegedly this was
a movie?
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah, there will be the only of a football team, Jerry.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Jerry wouldn't be in the meeting. There would be an
in between, like and someone that's friends with Manny Alvarez.
Manny Alvarez is the person who hands down this sentence. Okay,
Manny Alvarez is the judge, the judge here who's in
the documentary, still a man around town, and so there
would be people that knew Manny Alvarez.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
The talking season tickets. What are we talking about here?
Speaker 6 (16:25):
I don't think we can talk it through. Yeah, I mean,
I mean I think it's too dangerous. But I would say, yeah,
it's just too dangerous.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
We're well, we're not hold on, hold on, We're not
implying that there was a bribe. I'm just saying that
you Jerry doesn't go sit down with the judge and say, hey, man,
I need Michael to have a You know, there's going
to be people in between all of that that know,
all the parties.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Well, it's Jerry's job to find out as much information
about the case as it can, so like it would
be in touch with them or people.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
And it's up to the district attorney, by the way,
to accept the plea like.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
But I think there.
Speaker 6 (17:04):
Would have had to have been pressure coming from somewhere
else to influence them to do that. I don't know
how that pressure is applied or how it's effective.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Does the OJ case have anything to do with this app.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
Probably not, just other than public discourse, No, I would
assume not. But because it was a almost two years
after that, well there's but but it is racially charged,
I mean er implied it earlier. Yeah, and so in
the in the the OJ thing was all about race
for America.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Okay, so when we come back, the Assistant DA is
pissed about this ruling. The Cowboys culture is out of control.
And then what happens when you take training camp up
to Wichita Falls and go get a haircut?
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Oh god, that's next. And then Skin Show ninety seven
point one the Eagle Man. We're having so much fun
discussing this cussing on part of our custom the Cowboys
five o'clock hour discussing the Netflix Docucrey. He's America's team,
the Gambler and his Cowboys. Now today we're talking about
episode seven. Tomorrow we'll wrap it all up talking about
episode eight. But today this episode is all about it's
(18:11):
the Michael Irvin drug trial and how it ties into
the end of the Cowboys dynasty. It was a really
compelling episode, and we're just talking about the Michael Irvin case,
being on trial for cocaine possession and all of that,
and it's time to wrap all that up.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
So Michael gets off clean here with just four years
of deferred probation and a ten thousand dollars Fine, here's
the Assistant DA talking about how mad he is about
it and it's happening now in the Eagle. I liked
them as a person there.
Speaker 13 (18:39):
I think just all this stuff that came out that
I can't really trust trust them three.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Like if a normal person leaning on the streets they
go to jail a long time.
Speaker 13 (18:49):
I just think that it just goes to show what
money can buy.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
The end was so perplexing.
Speaker 7 (18:54):
Michael Irvin gets probation and a ten thousand dollars fine.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
How the heck did we do all of this and
this is what you're offering? It was, It was unheard of.
It makes no.
Speaker 7 (19:05):
Sense to any experienced lawyer that she make the best
offer when you are winning, Nobody does that.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Well, I'll tell you if someone does. Nikoel Harrison, Well
that's the one. It happened. We were winning. I do
have Angela Beck cleanup. What do you got so Angela Beck?
After she pled guilty in nineteen ninety six, she got
(19:35):
two years deferred probation, a five hundred dollars fine, and
a one hundred hours of community service. That's good. That's
good research by you, dude. Since receiving her deferred probation,
she has not been in the public spotlight, so no
one really knows where she's at now or anything. She's
still dancing. Yeah, yeah, I certainly hope not two in
(19:56):
nineteen ninety six would make you about about one now. Yeah. Uh,
you know what, We're gonna go to Wichital Falls soon.
In this audio, she could probably be dancing in the
witch Falls. Never let anyone up there, uh, trust me,
I know.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
This is a little more on the Cowboys culture at
this time. You know, Barry Switzer's still in charge. Just
won the third, third Super Bowl in four years. Still incredible, right,
I thinks you're good.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
But we were losing a lot of good players and
we just weren't replacing them.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
The Cowboys signed only seven free agents in the Switzer era.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
They lost thirty one. Okay, that's I had to stop
it here. There's more so they signed seven and lost
thirty one players. That's insane. I've been looking at like
a few things about NFL teams this right, who do
they lose? Who do they get? Everyone loses a few
people in free agency. Whatever was Look at the Eagles
and the Washington who are in the division. It's pretty even.
Almost every team, it's like, lost five guys brought in
(20:54):
five new guys plus your draft picks whatever. So seven
stayed and they lost thirty one without being able to
recuperate it. And they weren't drafting well, we'll get to that.
We weren't drafting as good as we had been.
Speaker 8 (21:10):
Liz for me, in order the most important positions only defense?
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Okay, dude, anyone who says it's a Jerry puffbys you
have him in a room going what's the most important positions?
It's as bad as you can look. Yeah, it is
not a great clip for him. There's so many of
those though, where you're like, that's not a good clip
for him.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Even worse a Switzer looking out the window with his
eyes glassed over as Jerry asked that question.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
Liz, for me, in order the most important positions only defense?
Speaker 13 (21:44):
I felt like Jerry, you know, he was learning the
business on my time.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
What suspensions were Leon let his second seat, Hey Carver
and Clayton Holmes, UI rests for Corey Plumming, had Eric Williams,
When is enough enough?
Speaker 12 (21:59):
Switzer was arrested after security officers found a loaded revolver
in his carry on bag. Switzer says he placed the
gun there at his home to keep it away from
some kids and then forgot about it after packing his toiletries.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Keep it away from some kids instead his kids is
odd too.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
Yeah, man, I think that's one of my favorite quotes
from the whole thing, where Troykman says Jerry was learning
on my time. And that's that's why I think I
feel so bad for Troy Aikman watching this, because yes,
they did win three super Bowls, but how many super
Bowls could they have won?
Speaker 2 (22:34):
If you know, if.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Jerry had just gotten out of the way and let
Jimmy or even brought in another real coach besides Switzer
and Troy didn't have to be the disciplinarian and they
weren't making all these mistakes in the draft and free agency,
Like he could have doubled that total.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
He could have won six super Bowls.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Yeah, and you got to go back to to like
I guess maybe episode one where he basically telling tech
Shram he wants his job and he just doesn't have
any experience.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
And the other thing too, man.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
We've talked about this with head coaches before, when they
have a lot of success right out the gate and
then it's like they think they know what they're doing.
And so think about all the success Jerry had right
out the gate. He's the quote unquote gim even though
it's Jimmy doing making those moves, Jerry probably thinks he
already knows everything, which.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Goes deeper to where we are now, he still thinks
he knows everything. Yeah, and because he's on the TV
deals and twelve billion dollars to watching the value of
the organization go up to.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
You know what's interesting too is looking at how much
money they spent on that team that really only ended
up winning one more super Bowl. And then when they
show you the record like over the ensuing years, it's
like they did not get banged for that buck. They
got one super Bowl and then a lot of crap.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Yeah, this is when they move training camp to witch
Tel Falls. Now do you guys have memories of this
at all? Yeah? Sure, I know is very big deal
where I'm from, because my news sources were not NBC
five and Fox four and Channel eight. It was KFDX
Channel three in wichitall falls right there at Midwestern State University,
(24:09):
so it was pretty common. I remember with my parents
bought my cousins, we went a couple of times the
Cowboys practice, you know, nineteen ninety eight or ninety nine whatever,
hot so fing hot out there, and I remember just
like burning alive on those bleacher seats. But it was
the lead story. Every night was something Cowboys, whether they
just had a practice, We're here at Cowboys practice. And
(24:31):
keep in mind, growing up, I hated the Cowboys because
I was a Packers fan, and the Packers never beat
the Cowboys. I mean, dude, all those games at Texas
STATEIU and the Cowboys just stomped the Packers. So it
was very weird for me growing up. This story I
don't remember anything of though, and it's one of the
wailess Cowboys stories of all time. There should be a
full documentary episode on this.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
We would get a haircuts. Everett was a new guy
coming open. I say, I'm better than I'm next, you know,
to get a haircut, and.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
It was no next. What is how we do things?
Speaker 3 (25:03):
We're doing those things like that, and somehow I kind
of lost it, grabbed some citizens die and I cut
him so much blood came out. They rushed him to
the hospital. I went back to my little my blood
all over. I'm going to jail. That wait effort. I'm
so sorry, but but you know he sat down, I
know for you, he said, Michael, you know, I know
you love your kids. Man, he almost took me from mine. Yeah,
(25:26):
that was that was sudden to say.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
You know, and he was right.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Had he not handled it the way he handled it,
that was definitely going to jail.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
What a train wreck, Michael Irvin is It's insane.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
I mean, this is after almost going to jail for
twenty years and the biggest crack rock a Dallas police
departman I'd ever seen, and uh, you know, and then
the murder for a higher plot. Now you're trying to
kill a teammate over of the haircut line.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
I was just so go ahead.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
I just gonna say, I feel like the guy in
the mink coat really learned his lesson with the two
thousand dollars fine in the deferred probation.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah, I'd say it's not like Evert mccivy was a
rookie either. No, he was a veteran. You're six or something. Yeah,
he was a veteran.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
That was.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
They just signed him. They just signed him. That was
his first Cowboys camp. I just thought, now, this this
documentary is great. All the whole series are great. There's
just not enough time to get to all the stuff.
Two minutes on the evert McIvor stabbing is just not enough.
We needed ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
We need to find maciv I want to hear his
side of this, Like, I don't know that Evert McIvor
just said something like that what Michael said, Like I
could see that being a situation hypothetically where someone in
the organization stepped in.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
I was like, hold on everyting, well, don't they pay
to make those go away? And it's like, look, you're
gonna get all this money, but you can never speak
about it. That's absolutely what happened. And the thing that
was so funny is for chan Gaily to be thrown
in the middle of.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
All of this. I mean he was. He came off
like a little country bumpkin. It was.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
It was insane. But yeah, I mean that's that's what happened, man.
And I'm sure Jerry paid Everett mcgiver, maybe gave him
a piece of land and prosper I don't know, but
he made that go away.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
I mean the rumor, according to an article that I've
just clicked here from the New York times is that
it was a six digit figure.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Wow, So I mean, isn't that what happened when Zeke
broke that DJ's face. I can't tell you how many
friends I have in the DJ circles that old knew
that guy and all knew that he took a check.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
For sure, he got a check for this. So good,
So good. That was a good way to start off
training camp right there with a two inch cut.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
And it wasn't a cut. He stabbed him in the neck.
He stabbed him. He didn't slice him with open scissors,
open at a forty five degree angle. He stabbed the
dude in the neck with scissors. That's what happened at
a super cuts, No, in a dorm room.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Super good didn't have a lot places haircuts, which, well,
tomorrow we will do episode eight. Okay, we'll end this
marathon episode eight, which is a lot about Jerry Jones.
It's a this is where you could go, it's a
puff piece, I would say, but no, there's a lot
of stuff in there. Two where its not where it's
not taking shots out of him and Dave Campo was
(28:21):
wrong though. The one shot of Dave Campo in this
series is him on an airplane with his mouth open.
I leap with his mouth if you want to.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
If we have time too, we could probably hit the
end of Irvin, the end of Eight Men, in the
end of Emmett because they get into all that too.
All right, great stuff, KT, And it reminds me. I'll
never forget the time that KT as a little boy
went to cowboy camp and he walked up to Everett McIver.
He yanked a pair of scissors out of his neck
and he said, burn my tongue on a Texas twinkie.
(28:49):
And it really had a lasting impact. Christina're gonna stick around,
play some music. Yeah, all right, Christina is sticking around
till ten right here on the Eagle.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
There you going.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
You're wrong, So I'm gonna get some cheeks after this
horse power is drink
Speaker 2 (29:03):
God, bless Jesus.
