Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, kids across Dallas Fort Worth are headed back
to school today, and Ali they probably got it wrapped
up by this point. It's five o'clock, probably home bitching
about how bad it sucked to be back in school
today already. Well, because kids went back to school today.
Coming up at five thirty, we'll take a look at
the best high school movies of all time. Here in
(00:20):
about ten minutes, we'll find out if gen Z is
picking money over love. But right now, it's time for
this Cowboy.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Surprise. All right.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
So there's been a poll that went out to check
the temperatures of football fans across the NFL. With the
new NFL season quickly approaching, fifty four percent of football
fans admit that they are super nervous about their tea
and wondering how they'll perform this year. Now, among the
teams with the most nervous fan base are the Dallas Cowboys,
(01:10):
you know. And so there's only two parts to this survey,
and that is they've got they pulled all these different people,
and what they're talking about with each team is the
percentage of fans that are feeling nervous about the season.
And then another number, which is the percentage of fans
that think their team will reach the Super Bowl. And
(01:31):
so if you look at those, those should be an
inverse relationship, right, m you're nervous. If you're super nervous
about the season, you shouldn't have high expectation that your
team's going to reach the super Bowl. And if you're
not nervous, you probably have a pretty good team and
you feel like there's a good chance they reach the
super Bowl. Some of the teams that their fan bases
(01:51):
think they'll reach the super Bowl the highest.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Baltimore Ravens, all right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I like that especially well, I don't know the AFC
is tougher than the NFC.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
The Eagles.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Eagles fans are ninety percent sure their team's going back
to the super Bowl, especially since the NFC kind of sucks. Yeah,
that's interesting. Chiefs eighty three percent because they're always there. Yeah, right,
and the new Taylor album, right, and you got a
factor that in. And so for Dallas Cowboys fans, you
would think that, okay, since they have a percentage that
(02:23):
is among the highest that they're nervous, their fans are nervous.
Seventy one percent of Cowboys fans are nervous about the
upcoming season. That ties Atlanta Falcons fans for being the
most nervous.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, the Falcons are a mess too.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
It's because we have a brand new coach, right, and
a very fragile quarterback. So what Christina did, Ben was
she just tried to be logical and reasonable about it,
when all you really have to say is they're Cowboys fans.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
They are so.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Shell shocked on three decades worth of getting their hopes
up and getting kicked in the crotch. You made two
valid sports points, thank you, But it's just Cowboys fans. Man, Like,
how many times are you gonna fall for the banana
and the tailpipe trick?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Well, they're falling for it a little bit.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Tennessee Titans fans only thirteen percent of them think they're
going back or they're going to go to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
They're the tight Titans.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Only sixteen percent of Saints fans, Patriots fans, these are
the worst teams in the league. The Jaguars, right, the
Colts and the Jaguars fans only five and eight percent
of their fans think they have a shot of going
to the Super Bowl. I get it, and so you
would think in Cleveland Browns are in their sixteen percent,
you would think that the Carolina Panthers nineteen percent.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
So what are Cowboys fans? Right?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
They're seventy one percent of them are nervous. Well, that said,
they're not anywhere near any of those other teams. Thirty
eight percent of Cowboy fans think they're going to the
super Bowl. That is a higher number than I would
have thought. But we are the kool Aid drinkers down here.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, you wait till halfway through the season.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
That'll change.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
And then the revolt happens. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I mean I'm looking around and I think there's only
like seven or eight teams that have a fan base
that with a higher expectation. I do think it is.
I do think it's not a mutually exclusive thing. I
do think there's a kind of person that's like naturally nervous,
but like hell yeah, let's go, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
I mean that's kind of part of the whole fandom thing.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, And I don't know what you can take from
these preseason games. I don't know what to take from
them because nothing like the Cowboys. I think I think
their defense is going to be horrible, Like they're not
gonna be able to stop anybody from running on them,
and they're gonna give up so many points. And I
don't really have a lot of confidence in their running
(04:46):
game unless Jayden Blew and Jayden Blue ends up being
the guy because just running another retread out there. So
I think the Cowboys are going to be losing and
having to pass the ball a ton. So I think
they're gonna be fun to watch as long as their
passing game as a they're able to get something done
that they should be able to to me, and it's
a different defensive coordinator. Dan Quinn was great at this,
but it's all gonna come down to can they create turnovers?
(05:08):
Because that just changes the complexion of everything in football.
And a couple of years ago, they were really good
at creating turnovers and it hit a lot of weaknesses
And that's like the number one thing in football is turnovers.
It's the most generic stat. Did you win the turnover battle?
It's always true, and it's true. And they are like,
if they get Micah Parsons signed and he plays, they're
(05:29):
gonna be good at rushing the passer. Even without Micah,
they're gonna be good at rushing the passer, so that
can lead to interceptions that can lead to fumbles that
can create problems. They're not really gonna be good defensively,
but they will get after quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Absolutely, Uh you mentioned Mike Parsons. Let me give you
a quote right quick from Dak. He says, at the
end of the day, it is business. Talking about the
Micah Jerry thing, we can't make something business personal. I
think when you do that, that's when the division comes.
Once that business deal happened, you can move forward and
(06:02):
kind of speaking on the idea of hey, is this
reparable and all that, And we've talked about that. The
second Jerry and Jerry's gonna give Michael what he wants.
The second he does, I think it's all good. It's
all gonna be good. He's gonna be richer than he
ever dreamed he could ever be. Yes, and he's gonna
be here for a long time.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah. All right.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Coming up next, just over three minutes away, it's the
weekly weekday Update. Gen Z apparently is picking money over
Love That and the best high school movies of all time.
As the kids head back to school, all headed your way.
