Speaker 1 (00:00):
Game day.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
That's right, Dallas Fort Worth, your Dallas Cowboys are in
Detroit playing the Lions tonight. We're super excited about that.
We're gonna talk a little cowboys here. We'll get back
into it at five o'clock. We'll cuss the Cowboys and
we'll get you ready for the game tonight by making
you laugh hysterically as we get closer and closer to
the end of our show.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
But right now it's time for this. Nowdays around the
sports k tod puns as all the sports.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Now coming up in the five PM hour, we'll give
you our pick to click for tonight's game. I'll tell
you what's going to happen there. But one thing that's
been happening all year long is over at Fox four.
Despite their grieving loss of Hannabata and treating her loss
like a funeral with giving Evan Andrews the weatherman Noah,

(00:50):
they have been doing a bit all year where they've
got a dog named Poppy, and Poppy basically goes up
to there's two bowls and they put the logo of
each team on the bowl and put some food in
there and just see what bowl he goes to. So Poppy.
He or she Poppy makes the picks real Golden Retriever?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Poppy? What what are we looking at?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Uh? It's not a Golden Retriever. It's a little it's manuel. Yeah,
I'm not good with dog types. That's right, that's what
a dog guy? Yeah, it's it's a coot little dog.
In fairness to you, you were attacked by a dog? Yes,
so I totally respect your take on this. It's somewhere
like I think it's like a golden Lab.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
How do I even so?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yet?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Hybrid? It's a good looking dog, but it's not a
Golden Retriever to me? Does it look friendly or does
it look like a dog that would attack you?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's so cute. Uh, here's a good picture of it.
If you can tell me what's a song by Gene
Autree by the Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
That is a Golden Retriever Retriever that's a gorgeous No, No,
it's a yellow Lab. It's a yellow lab. Yellow Lab,
that's what Harry, Yeah, exactly longer so Poppy.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Uh, well, I've been following this all year long, and
Poppy's pretty close to what the Cowboys record is.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
So here it is. It's time for it. Do you
have the audio?

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Hope, here we go, and now it's time for Fox
Sports Poppy the Puppies picks for the Cowboys and the Lions.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
Bobby the Bubby, he been skin Kat and Strin and
k Ray, little baby corn Bread, Bobby the Puppy. I
got Detroit Lions meeting the Dolls Cowboys, Yes, denied. Gonna
be a little bit of an upset rooting for the Boys,
but the Lions A're gonna take it home.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
This has been another edition of Poppy the Puppies Fox
four picks Dressed.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
In peace Hannah Botta. Wow, Okay, so that's yeah. I
didn't expect Poppy to sound like that. Yeah, Poppy is
you know, it's not a young pupp anymore. I guess not.
How do they know what the dog sounds like? Is that?
Is that Doucy doing a dog in person? Oh it's
the dog. Oh it's the dog.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
They put the microphone up and made the pick. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Called an upset even though the Cowboys are the underdogs
that I do.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, getting three on the line.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, he doesn't know, he doesn't have thumbs, he can't
really look anything up.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I have one more thing I want to play and
then I want to talk about a significant injury that
could help the Cowboys this year. But this is a
new new segment as well. Yeah, it's time for a
segment that America has become fond of calling.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Wait what Josh Binds has been coming all night long,
but then he pulls out and man, it's just hard.
Got five inches on him, but just too much.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, and somebody's going to get that gobbler at the
end of this game too.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I think it's just with the tip rechiever.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
Coach has been blown away by crab trees hands, his
ability to suck in these balls because the wide receiver
who is powerful from a waist down.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Oh, that's a big load needed to thrusholds to get
it in.

Speaker 6 (04:06):
Their big guys in there, Lucas Patrick come over on him.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Digg's coming right behind him. Inside. As I said before,
Zimmer has a nice package on Dak Prescott. He starts
to come and then he pulls out.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
The feeling is the Cowboys probably coming right down their throats.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
I think he's been fine.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
I think their d has really probably performed above expectations
coming in.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
It's been a while since he's seen a hole that
big folks didn't know what to do. I love good
football announcers.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
That's great, but definitely Herbie and al Michaels give us
the goods tonight.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Oh that's awesome on Amazon.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Uh So, Jalen Carter is the impact player of the
day of du jour for the Eagles. He's the guy
spit on Dak on the very first play of the season.
Remember the guy getting hurt on the opening kickoff, then
again out for spitting.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Arguably their best player in their entire roster.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
So he's having some proceed done on his shoulders and
he is going to be out for Monday Night's game.
And there's a stat that shows that the Eagles are
with him on the field, are the third best defense
in the league. When he's off the field, they are
the worst team in the league.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
That's like that Micahs stats Kavitall had right, the Mica stat.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
It's the maybe there's a Quinn Williams stat that we
start to say, I've seen since Quentinn Williams have been here.
The Cowboys gone from the thirty first defense to the
twenty first ranked to defense and like.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
For the season.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
So I wonder what their defense has been like just
in the last three weeks or whatever, so.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
I guess, I mean yeah, But to go from thirty
one to twenty one tells you, yes, you've made huge jump,
huge jumps because if you can just be middle of
the pack, as with this Cowboys defense, you're going to
be good because the offense is stellar, They're.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Gonna be good and I feel good about it.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Get a win tonight if Justin Herbert can go play
and the Eagles lose, and then it's on and then
you're really regretting that ceedee lamb drop those balls in
a week one O.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Man, all right, I have a I have a wild
theory about the Mavericks, and I'm gonna give it to
you here in just about three minutes, So don't go anywhere.
The second half of Around the Sports is next. Oh yes,
you're listening to the world famous been in Skin show.
Here we are on a Cowboys game day, Cowboys Lions tonight.
Exciting stuff. Cowboys six five and one, Lions seven and five.
The Cowboys got all the momentum and let's see how

(06:23):
that carries over tonight into Detroit.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Again.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
We were just talking about Frankel and Frankel if you're
involved in a wreck, that's not your fault. Call the
Frankels two one four, three three three thirty three thirty three. Uh,
they're very good at what they do. They handled my
case as I've broken down many many times. We love
these dudes, good friends of ours, very very good attorneys.
Two one four, three three three thirty three thirty three
for the greatness of Frankel and Frankel. All right, for

(06:46):
part two of Around the Sports, I want to turn
our attention to MAVs basketball. MAVs got another win last night.
That's three and row.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Nouh.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Right, Yes, they've won three in a row. They beat
the Heat and that is not a game I expect
them to win. But I'm telling you what, it is
so much fun to watch the Mavericks. And we were
talking about this, maybe the Mavericks are a little bit
like the Dallas Cowboys because their offense was just terrible.

(07:15):
For the Cowboys, it was their defense being terrible. But
the Cowboys got Quinn Williams in a trade. Overshown came
here and got healthy and he's back out there. And
for the Mavericks, Anthony Davis got healthy and he's back
out there and Ryan Nimbhart is playing out of his mind.
And suddenly you look at the evolution and growth of
Cooper Flag, how comfortable he looks out there. You look

(07:38):
at nim Hart and how much better the Mavericks are
when they actually have a true point guard out there
running things. And then their best player, Anthony Davis, who
everybody's but heart about because of what you gave up
to get him. I get it. It was a terrible trade.
It was not fair at all. That's not Anthony Davis's fault.
Maybe the bigger thing is that he just can't stay healthy.

(07:58):
But he is healthy, now what I mean to his credit,
I mean, dude, he is good. Last night, Anthony Davis
had seventeen points, seventeen rebounds, Cooper Flag had twenty two.
He's incredible in the clutch again, Cooper Flagg nine of thirteen,
Ryan Nimbhart again kick an ass He had fifteen points
and thirteen assists.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
And it's just unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
And you know, maybe maybe look, if another team's not
going to step up and give the Mavericks a decent
offer for Anthony Davis, then unfortunately it probably doesn't make
sense to trade him like you could trade him this
offseason and probably get a better deal. His teams can
you know, prepare for that type of cap space to

(08:40):
go after him, and really to get a fair return,
he's gonna have to stay healthy the rest of the
way and show he can stay healthy. And I think
he's playing with some pretty badly injured fingers and he's
fighting through what he's trying to He's doing his best
to fight through it.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
But anyways, it.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Might make sense because if no one's going to give
you a fair deal for Ad, don't trade him. And
if Ad is gonna be out there, you can't tank
because he's too good. You're gonna be too good if
he's playing to go get a good draft pick. And
so maybe the thing you do is just go win
a bunch of games and see what happens when Kai
comes back.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
I think that's where I'm at now, because I think
it's it's kind of like too late to tank almost
if you look at like the teams in the league
who are really like living that life, the Pelicans and
the Wizards at three wins, I mean, the Mavericks already
have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven teams in
front of them who have won less games than them. Yeah,
I guess the Jazz have lost less games, but the

(09:35):
Maverickers still behind them. Like there's a lot of teams
like the Mavericks can easily pass. So that's where I
kind of look at it that way too, because Kyrie's
coming back to and if you're gonna end up tanking,
then that's a whole difficult conversation where Kyrie might be like, well,
I don't want to be here, then I'm ready to play.
I'm not just gonna sit out so you guys can tank.
I'm not getting any younger, So like you kind of
have to go this route, which is relying on Anthony

(09:55):
Davis to be healthy. Okay, and we all know, like
you try to have this discussion without even saying you
know anything about the trade, but like it's the choices
were made and here we are and it's what it is,
and it's a tough thing.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
But like you're now seeing that they're.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Good, Okay, but they're good now because AD's back, but
also because they have a point guard out there. They
were trying to play without a point guard and it
was Jason Kidd's decision. One of the greatest point guards
of all time to roll the Mavericks out there without
a point guard. And dude, I got a crazy theory.
This is mine, Ben Rogers, me alone, my theory. I
wonder about this because I was talking to somebody about

(10:30):
this and they were like, why did Jason Kidd try
to play without a point guard? I mean, you saw
Ryan Neimhar, you saw he was good, he could run
the offense, but you didn't even really start playing him
until recently. And one theory is that, okay, he was
trying to put the final nail in Nico's coffin. All right, Now,
what we've heard is that Jason Kidd is now the
closest guy to Patrick Dumont, and he's maybe hedging his

(10:53):
way to try to be the VP of Basketball Operations
or the GM. And by getting Nika out of the way,
he got closer to Dumont, He got the guy above
him out of the way, and the path is clear
for him to go. But this is the greatest point
guard ever, maybe or one of them, Jason Kidd, and
he was playing without a point guard. He knows what
a point guard does to the offense, but he chose

(11:13):
not to have one. And they look terrible and now,
oh my god, we're playing a point guard and everything
looks easy.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
You know what I'm saying, Dude, does that makes sense?
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
This does not take a look like this isn't for me.
This is one of those conspiracies that I'm willing to
go with here because you know, it would have normally
driven him crazy to see D'Angelo Russell just dribbling out
the shot clock before a possession starts and like, okay,
so what's he doing over there with his hands in
his pockets? Like is he just allowing this to happen? So, yeah,

(11:45):
I'm with you on this. That's that's not hard for
me to believe at all.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Again, Ben Rogers, that's me. It's just me and my
crazy theory. It's not you know, it's probably not true,
but I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Because why also, why die on the vine? That is
Nico Harrison?

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Yeah, Like, there's really no reason for anyone like you
could still like the guy and just be like, man,
I still have the decision you made.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
I need to I need to probably distance from what
you did. You know, it's just a smart thing to make.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Everyone should and people are just assuming he wasn't in
on the decision.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
I call BS on that. Of course he was in
on the decision.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
I mean the owners just started to get away from
it as well, you know.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
All right. Anyways, there it is there tomorrow night. It's
probably a lost that they're fun to watch. There's so
much fun to watch.
