"Can you have a valid opinion on sports if you’ve never played professionally?"That’s the fiery question at the heart of this explosive segment of The Ben and Skin Show, where Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive headfirst into the escalating tension on ESPN’s morning show Get Up. The crew breaks down the awkward, uncomfortable, and wildly entertaining clash between insider Peter Schrager and former NFL players Ryan Clark and Dan Orlovsky—who seem to believe that if you haven’t taken a hit across the middle, your opinion doesn’t matter.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Been in Skin Show ninety seven point one. The Eagle
Dirt Novitski joins the show at five point thirty. Today
he's got a huge event. We'll tell you all about it.
Don't miss our time with Dirk at five point thirty.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
But right now it's time for this, okay.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
So there's a guy who used to be at the
NFL Network named Peter Schrager and then he went to ESPN.
His bit was kind of insider guy. But he was
also on a show on NFL Network called Good Morning Football.
But you know it's with that cute gal Kay Adams. No,
she's doing her own thing now. She was on Good
Morning Oh yeah years and yeah, yeah yeah, back in
the day for sure. Him. And there's an actor named

(00:44):
Kyle Brandt who's on that show. And then they have
football players on, so you know he's probably dealt with
the dynamic of being on a show with football player.
So now he's on the ESPN morning show Get Hard.
What's it called Get Up, gett?

Speaker 4 (00:56):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
It's called Get Hard something like that, and Mike Greenberg's
the host. And then you got your former players, and
you got like an old coach, and you got maybe
a front office guy. And then Schrager just signed a
big deal to go to ESPN, like you left in
the f ON network to go to ESPN's I had
a big contract. So they're putting him on. They're gonna
get some mileage out of him. The problem is if
he's got an opinion on Ceedee Lamb dropping some passes

(01:20):
but actually playing a pretty good game for the Cowboys.
Four players are not gonna like that, so you're gonna
hear him getting cut off a lot by dan Orlowski.
And then Ryan Clark is the former Steelers safety who
has made so many enemies lately, like RG three, and
it gets pretty tense on the set of Get Up
and Down, Go for It.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay, you look at A J.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Brown, which is this number one wide receiver who got
one target all night and then you got Cedde Lamb.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
But that's when that's the target was the one I'm
saying you could have way four seconds up in the
game on second and eleven. It was the one target.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
He runs the wake up this quarter they got Brown
had a better day than CD Lamb.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
But you know what to wake up say? I know
A J.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Brown's team is one and oh of course like again.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
But the thing is this though, and and we shouldn't
do this on TV, and so.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I apologize if people think this is rude, that's.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
The non player.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Oh stop, that's no that lam.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Let me tell you why I'm not saying I'm not
the Fantasy Football Ryan.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I'm not. Don't don't don't belittle me like that.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I could come in and say, as three ex players
are saying one thing and give an alternative perspective that
maybe Ceedee Lamp did play well.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Admit either. What I need you to do, what I
need for you to do is not get mad and
let me finish for one.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Okay, it wasn't about you. It was going to be
about me.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Okay, as a.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Player, pretty tense, right, as a player, Yeah, this is
this is not new. I mean, look, you can play
the game and have a good opinion. You can also
have played the game and have terrible opinions. You could
have not played the game and have good opinions, or
could have not played the game and have terrible opinions.
Just because you play doesn't mean that everything you say

(02:58):
is right on point. Yeah, and here's the one thing, Like,
whatever you think about all of this, this is almost.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Universally true with NBA players or NFL players or baseball
players whatever. When you didn't play and you talk, they
tune you out like they just do.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
We could say that's fair or not fair, whatever, but
that is very much the mentality. And like that's also
you know, a lot of those guys think that coaches
in front offices are one way until they interact with it,
and then they look back at the way they used
to think and it's different. But they very much think
that they're in an exclusive brotherhood and if you're not
in the brotherhood, you just don't know. That's the way

(03:39):
they feel. Do you deal with that all the time? Yeah,
all the time. And you know, this is what I've said.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
It's real.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
It's it's and I get it.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
That's their perspective, but it's it's to me, it's about
how you view the world, because then I could just
cut them off. It's like, what do you think of
that restaurant? Oh, you've never been a chef. I don't
care what you think. Like, you know, it's like you're
getting it. One. I can't experience what you've experienced. But
the idea that you only see the world like this

(04:07):
tells me that you're not a particularly deep thinker, and
so that's what that is. But like all those guys
almost to a tee, they're like, Doug, you don't know
what it's like to go across the middle, so I
don't want to hear from you.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, But here we are just trying to do a segment.
And that's where I think, like it's a no no,
like you can't play that card playing. That's early in
their relationship over at ESPN. It's like, okay, you're doing this,
now are they supposed to last?

Speaker 4 (04:33):
So it reminds me of this thing on I Think
You Should Leave, which I love the show on Netflix
where the idea is. Tim Robinson has this political debate
show m M. And he's like, I go toe to
toe with the toughest opinion makers in politics and sad
da da da da. And he's like, and if I
start to lose the debate, I just go on my phone.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
And he's in a debate.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
With someone and they're like, hey, yeah because of this,
and he's like hold on.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
He's looking at his phone.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
He's like, are you just hold on? I got to
answer this. You know, it's so good, just totally all right,
I can't win this. That's what's saying. You didn't play
the game, And really that's what the whole bit was
with Bacon and Bronson. Yes, you don't know the difference
between a three four and to a four to three
because you never played the game.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
But you know what though, just listening to that, I
didn't watch it, and they're yelling at each other in
the morning, I'm thinking this is exactly what ESPN wants.
Like ESPN has put a lot of time and energy
and money into highlighting Mina Chimes and Ryan Clark just
dumped all over. But that doesn't mean that she's not good.
There's a lot of people that identify with Mina Chimes

(05:35):
and appreciator and listen to her. I mean, this is
what they want. They want people attacking each other's credibility
because that pulls everybody in.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I have a ten second clipper. This is Kyle Brant,
Peter Schrager's former teammate at the NFL Network. He got throw.
They threw it to him in the studio before one
of the games yesterday.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
It's great to see you, and it's great to see
everybody around the country today working there especially on.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Set in Los Angeles, and a special shout out to.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
The non player today.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
We see you, we respect you on our set and
on several others.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
In the meantime, leag it.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Okay, let's go get this boy's backs. I love it
is fantastic. All right, there you have it. Coming up next,
it's the News Quickie why you should never piss off
your bartender. And don't forget it's Dirk Day on the
Beninskin Show. Dirk joins us at five point thirty. Do
not miss it, but the News Quikie is next.
